Actually, all three holidays Last_Ninja listed are bastardised forms of various pagan holidays which originated in Britain. All the Christians did was paste their mythology over a pre-existing one. But, hey, what do you expect from a god who`s actually a surreal mixture of about five judaeo-pagan deities.

On a lighter note, I find this picture very amusing.

halloween was brought here from the Irish, during the potato phamon. In there land the time of fall was a sign of death and they thought that the dead had extra powers during this time. so they would put out skulls not jackolanterns and they would dress up "like the dead" to fool them. It is a pagan thing, but on that note for pagans it has to do with the change of the seasons the period of death "fall". more then fooling the dead.

actually, halloween is one of several pagan holidays, easter and christmas are about the same time as some of them. in itself, it`s not really that pagan-y

Halloween is just an excuse to get dressed up in something rediculous, and eat candy, what`s wrong with that?

Ohh my. People going off about Halloween is ridiculous. I celebrate it & I`m a Christian. :( Can we enjoy festivities and stop always trying to be politically correct?

"Silly old bat, why didn`t she switch the top clipboard to landscape?"

Most practically minded comment I`ve seen on IAB.

She probably also thinks that clothing with zippers is witchcraft and that the television box is full of little magic midgets and leprechauns... "How on earth did they get in there must either be little people or could it be SATAN???"

I had a friend once who went on a rant like that because he thinks Halloween is Satanic holiday.
It pisses me off when people say Halloween is Satanic. It`s PAGAN.

Oh get over it, you old bag! So you had a bad experience with some cranky, stressed out demon and he spat ground up corpses at you - that doesn`t mean they`re all bad. Also, the whole not funny thing is totally unnecessary. 7 out of 10 supernatural comedians are demons and that`s a fact!

yeah, i don`t "Get" that. I mean, if she wants to bring people closer to jebus or something... she`s doing a poor job. If anyone mentioned the "Good word" ie bible for ANYTHING relating to halloween... It`d just piss me off. GG convert attempt. I wouldn`t feel the slightest urge to go hit up a church unless they had candy and/or I had a few rotten eggs and some TP.

Halloween was also a tradition from the druids where they left sweet foods for the spirits that walked the earth. So kids dress up scary (like spirits) and we give them candy (The sweet food) And they go away (like the spirits).

xD Though I most say. Demons and children are the same thing most of the time...

*replaces demons with kids* ...There, makes more sense.

Yeah, well she can have fun with her Bible, and I`ll have fun dressing up as zombie Jesus whilst getting hammered at a Halloween party, thankyouverymuch.

"Halloween is actually an old tradition supposed to drive away demons."

Actually, Halloween was based on All Hallows Eve, the one night of the year when spirits could walk the earth. People wore costumes because they believed that the spirits wouldn`t possess them if they believed the humans were other spirits.

This is from where I live! How weird xD
This lady is always sat in town with different signs. I used to see her sat on the bench outside of college warning students about various evils.

this is awesome! She`s from Exeter, in Devon UK, she`s always out with signs like this! The end is nigh, repent! That sort of thing!
I`ve been using IAB for years and only just created an account just cos I was amazed to see something from home on here when it`s mostly yank stuff!
