It`s just struck me that any theist who makes the "gaping void" argument is actually stating that their own religion is wrong and being too irrational to realise they`re doing it.

The argument stems from the assumption that their religion is right and of immense importance. That is why they`re saying that people who don`t follow their religion feel the gaping void of the lack of it. If it wasn`t true and/or wasn`t important, the lack of it wouldn`t leave a gaping void.

So the fact that there are many people who don`t follow their religion and don`t feel this gaping void proves (*according to their own argument*) that their religion is false, unimportant or both.

America`s problems are because of our depenceny on foreign oil, not religion. People start blaming each other instead of working together to make better energy supplies that would not just help America but the whole world.

They should have been using that money that was used to air that show to research things like Perpetual Motion Machines and Tesla Technology.

im not sure i agree with the way he`s coming across, but i do like the general idea of
eternal unity.
but who wouldnt want that, right?

i think everyone wants to live in a stable and successful country, but i dont think religion has to do anything with that.

if anything i think it should be the population looking past things like religion to help each other, thereby helping with the whole eternal unity thing? Dont all religions mostly revolve around that ideal? Looking past how one sees or treats you and accepting and giving love? I feel the issue of religion has only become a warped version of what its supposed to be.

idk, just thought i`d throw my thoughts out there.

"but he doesn`t understand that he has no valid points, merely sprawling generalizations. Lol kairobert."

I`ll give you points.

USA has had more resources going in than out for over 200 years, just like Imperial Britain.

USA has gone to war with almost all socialist countries, emphasizing on that "the commies" were the cause of the atrocities that occured, not the already present chaos in the region. They did not go to war against them to bring "democracy and freedom" to the region, if they had at all been worried about that, they would not have supported the hundreds of tyrants, that even though were brutal and unjust dictators, were friendly towards the United States. They went to war because socialism put a country out of the axis of unjust trade. It made a country not send all their resources to the western world. It was like a slave rebellion that had to be put down.

This man is exactly what I hate. I don`t put my faith in anything. (FYI I`m athiest)
I strongly dislike his arguments. Because of course, putting your faith in a non-existant, non-physical being that has no evidence of ever existing is a great way to use your time and your brain.
And what was funny about his evidence for the songs, those weren`t religious at all, and actually were supporting our country. Yes, one was to the tune of "Jesus loves me" (if i recall correctly) but was NOT religious. If he has an issue with patriotism he has another think coming.
And it`s even funnier whenever someone refers to God as "Him", because you cant prove God is any sex. There is no evidence to support such a factor. To make it worse, he isn`t any sex anyway since hes non-physical.

And also, exactly what I was thinking Souladdict22. At least in some countries their "God" may be their leader, who at least exists...

"Top link is a cliff notes version of mosaic law, second link is the cathecism of the Catholic church and their view on moral law...fun reading"

The first article states that Christians don`t have to obey any of the OT rules. It references your own holy book. It is, therefore, theological evidence AGAINST the position you`re claiming it supports.

The second article is some statements in which the Catholic church decrees that whetever they approve of is natural moral law, blah blah. It`s just typical circular reasoning - it`s natural law because we say so, we say so because it`s natural law.

It also states that the "old law" (i.e. OT rules) is replaced by the "new law" (i.e. NT rules).

So the second link completely fails to provide any theological evidence for your claim and at least partially undermines it.

The "ritual" and "moral" distinction is made up to create a fake support for pick `n` mix obedience of OT rules.

Ignoring the fact that this guy is a complete moron, he did specify one good point about 1:35 in. He said those who claim no religion are the fastest growing denomination in the US In saying this he is combining atheism and non religious, which is just ignorant. You do not have to follow a religion to believe in a God. Maybe that fast growing sector of people are just realizing that religion is nonsensical, hypocritical bullpoo. Maybe people like to come to conclusions about what they think is right or wrong through thought and experience, not by what someone tells. Then again, death panels...

That was my point all along in a sense--that religion is not the real evil, but it enables people in a way. Most people have to take the conscience issue--but God can offer creative interpretations for reality, and thus give one the gusto to go out and kill for him.

It`s not because of God--it`s because of the ability to rationalize it. Something is irrational as that, can be used to rationalize a lot of things that are inhumane or psychotic.

It`s not religion that is the problem. It has never really been the problem in the first place. Religion never struck someone down. The people behind it always have been the perpetrators.

I find it pointless to blame religion. The people should be held responsible--not their beliefs. But sometimes I wonder if some beliefs are too dangerous to hold, or too irrational or crazy to exist in this world that we all share. You have to remember that. We are all sharing this planet together. This isn`t just my life. It`s all of ours.

Religion has nothing to do with the downfall of anything. Humanity is to blame of ALL of the atrocities we have done. You can argue without these religions we wouldn`t have the violent history we have. Again, no. Religion DOESN`T KILL ANYONE. Mankind interprets it, forces it, oppresses it, distorts it. Humanity is the reason and humanity is the cure, if that makes any sense. Again if you don`t believe me, then why are there groups of people who follow the exact same religion but do NOT promote violence of anykind. Why do these two camps exist? One who oppresses and the other who is peaceful? America isn`t falling because God is not present, America is falling because humanity has not made itself present to the "true" God. That`s the issue.

Look at it this way, America overcame racism (kinda) but thats different, it`s not hard to overlook a physical appearance. On the otherhand most find it impossible to overlook somebody who disagrees with your beliefs. Anyways, thats all I have to say.

Lack of religion is not the reason for the problems in America, religion however is.
The fact is, however much we believe in God, we still need to do things for ourselves, hence the need for government. Don`t be so daft you American whom I don`t actually know.
Also, learn that Americans (unless you are an Indian/Native American) are not true Americans.

Yup. Once an idiot--always an idiot. It`s those kinds of people who never FIND a reason to lose their faith that scare me the most.

I mean, I know why I don`t believe in God. It`s just not a productive use of my increasingly short time on this planet. I`d rather spend it with friends, and loved ones, and good times than in under a steeple. That`s just how I view it.

I know deep down that God is a fairytale, and that most people will not accept it, and it doesn`t bother me. I just don`t want to be subjected to it, and I want my country to live up to its own ideals. I want separation of church and state--we shouldn`t be favoring one belief, or one lack of belief. We are a united country. Atheists, gays, blacks, whatever. We are one country.

What do I fill the "void" with as an atheist? Myself, my family, my neighbors, my fellow man. Don`t look to your imaginary friend to fix the problems. We have a responsibility to ourselves, our fellow man, to inspire hope and goodness within each other.

I don`t do good things in hopes that I get into God`s little after party. I do good things for the sake of making life a little better for myself and those around me.

That is what Fox news does most of the time. Most forms of press, at least here in the states, shows what they want to portray the "news" in a way that shows you the view they wish you to see. The abundance of modern media outlets led the FCC to rescind the Fairness Doctrine. While some news is unbiased it has become a rarity.

If an individual wished to pray on their own time no one is saying they shouldn`t. I am saying that if any activity such as praying, smoking, getting a blow job, smoking a joint.....the list goes on, disrupts the flow of work then your beliefs or activities are being pushed on others. If some kid wants to pray in school so be it but that action should not take away from other students time. This is the reason school sponsored prayer is fought against so much. As for intolerance I wasn`t even going to start on the historical points of injustices caused by certain religions or to them for that matter. The intolerance i speak of is that of the Abrahamic religions which have an inherent intolerance towards those who have not converted to their particular conception of god.

And before ya` start on the "religion is intolerant, causes *them* to kill, pushes *their* beliefs on others, etc." every group has extremists...even YOURS. When you tell people they cannot pray aren`t you pushing your standards on me then? Where is the tolerance for my beliefs?

Smoking or praying in the work place are both fine as long as you do it in your free time. I have smoked most my life and only smoke while at work during allocated free time such as breaks. I believe in hiring anyone who can perform the functions of the job and not wasting company time. If an employee disrupts the flow of work by stopping to pray they will be terminated just as the smoker who sneaks of for a drag.

Now, as for atheists being whats wrong with the country, well that`s a common belief among christians. In many church settings they pass out their propaganda portraying atheists as dark and sinister types who will stop at nothing to turn your children away from god. Abrahamic religions (e.g., Christianity, Judaism and Islam) are the most intolerant religious practices when it comes to others beliefs or lack thereof

i don`t think religion should be taken as seriously as much as i think spirituality and someone`s personal relationship with God should be taken seriously. what so many christians forget is that the Bible says to work out YOUR OWN soul`s salvation. It`s hard enough in today`s society to live a good Godly life yourself without trying to also makinjg sure everyone else is too. i think peole like Glen sometimes just neeed to look in a mirror and if he truly believes what he`s saying then if he believes in God then thats all that should matter. live and let live.

If I state that all flowers are red, the discovery of a single blue flower will prove my statement to be false. Therefore:

Hypothesis: Atheists are to blame for all of America`s problems.

Falsification method: Identifying one of America`s problems that wasn`t caused by atheists will disprove this hypothesis.

Statement: The terrorist attacks of 9/11 was and is a problem for America.

Statement: The terrorists involved in 9/11 were self-identified radical Muslims.

Conclusion: 9/11 is a problem for America that was not caused by atheists. Therefore, not all of America`s problems are caused by atheists.

Don`t forget that there are enlightened people all over the world who are balanced in rational thought, take careful steps in approaching and discussing a topic, and are also open minded to the opinions of others.

Also note that none of these people ever get any air time because the loud, obnoxious, and rude ones tend to get all the attention.

But I also think that it is hypocritical of you to claim hypocrisy. How about, double standards? Now that sounds a little warmer to me. Double standards are bullpoo, and I don`t support them. If we can`t display who we are, then we should all be forced to wear white jump suits all the time, and paint all of our houses black. Might as well kill everybody`s identity all at once, you know?

I guarantee that she wouldn`t have gotten in trouble for telling a Christian to stop praying; I bet she would`ve been rewarded for that. This is why I can`t stand you "tolerant" liberals who hate Christians."~wrexsoul

Don`t just assume that everyone in here who is "liberal" hates christians. I don`t hate anyone, because personally, I think it is a waste of time. I might go to a lot of concerts you would probably find taboo, but I don`t hate any one group of people. Now that`s out of the way. I do

As for objecting to pray-ers at work, consider the average smoker instead. Hard to put a definite figure on it, I googled (average smoker lost time per day work) and there were varying results on the first page...

lost productive time per month = 20.8%
Smokers spend 8% of their work day in smoking activities
The average smoker takes 40 minutes per day for smoking breaks
can account for one lost day per week
total of 30 minutes is lost to the smoking ritual each day

...but its fairly certain smokers are lousy employees AND take more sick days than non-smokers. Being a pack-a-day smoker AND a businessman, I`d hire a religious zealot over a smoker any day.

> On Homosexuality: The Bible mentions homosexuality about as often as it mentions eating shellfish. Yet people such as Westboro interpret it as being the only unforgivable sin.

Weighing in on this (why the He...ck not), the Bible is fairly specific that its a bad sin, but yeah, where does this "only" or "worst" attitude come from? The Core Ruleset, as it were, is The Ten Commandments, and its not mentioned there. If any are to be considered the "worst" it has to be those 10, by definition, because they were the first handed directly to Man by God (apart from the prohibition of eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil), the first written down, and the basis of all future law.

Also: BLB, yeah, you PWN.

I was going to say about Pascal`s wager, that it gives you an idea of what theists think of religion and what atheists were brought up thinking.

If religion is taking over your entire life, and you`re not a priest, you`re doing something wrong.

I think it was Madest saying he wouldn`t hire someone who needed to pray 5 times a day. (OMG, 5 times!)

All 5 prayers, in total, take up ~17 minutes. Only 2 of those prayers are during working hours.

The average American spends 4 times this long watching commercials. It also means they`re getting up at 6am to do them, which means they probably have an ordered schedule they work by.

It also means no hangover sick days, and no groggy pre-coffee hours of the day.

But I`m sure your hiring policies are all revolving around your missed 7-9 minutes, and nothing to do with prejudices.

"My question is, why can Christians spout their nonsense and try to convert someone but if I, as an atheist, does it. I`m a bad person. Hypocrites!"

Because no-one ever complains about people preaching. It`s all OK. Nobody makes fun of the JWs. Also, atheists never preach and get a lot of crap from it, especially on sites like this.

Adding on to my point earlier. The behaviour you dislike from religious folk, does not change when they leave religion. The preachyness, the holier than thou attitude, the "if only my beliefs were the only belief" mentality.

It doesn`t go away. It`s just more evidence that much of the doucheness that you associate with religion, is associated with being a human being.

85% of which happen to be religious.

On Homosexuality:

The Bible mentions homosexuality about as often as it mentions eating shellfish. Yet people such as Westboro interpret it as being the only unforgivable sin.

What you are saying here, is that even though it is not direct interpretation. Even though these people have chopped and changed their beliefs, even though they REQUIRE aberrant readings and forced interpretations of several verses to justify that position, it is the fault of the original text.

In Islam, the stoning of homosexuals is the ONLY case where Hadith is used to overrule Quran. It`s the only case because it is expressly forbidden to do that. Yet they do. They go directly against their religion in order to enforce this, and you think if they didn`t have religion it wouldn`t be enforced?

A loophole does not create the abuse, it allows it. The idea that abuse would end if the law was thrown out completely is not wise.

I don`t want to argue the existence or nonexistence of God, but what I will say is this: As a Christian my quality of life has NOT declined since `conversion`... or whatever you want to call it. I don`t `get` to sleep around, but I`m really happy with my girlfriend. In my case, I feel like my faith has demanded a higher work ethic out of me, which has had a positive impact on my career. Getting drunk is costly. I have a lot of great friends in my church who would take a bullet for me. A little less fun? Probably. A waste of my precious time on earth? Not the tiniest bit.

Everyone here is so hypocritical. Why is it so bad for Christians to pray in school, but it is taboo to tell a Muslim to take his turban off? Both are displays of religion in public, yet the Christian gets all the flak. Remember that link about the girl who got in trouble for telling that muslim girl to take off her headdress.

http://weblogs.sun-sentinel.com/news/spe...

I guarantee that she wouldn`t have gotten in trouble for telling a Christian to stop praying; I bet she would`ve been rewarded for that. This is why I can`t stand you "tolerant" liberals who hate Christians.

I am kinda offended by this i am an "atheist" but that does not mean i have a gaping hole in my soul. You don`t need a god to know what is right and wrong. The reason I am an atheist is i don`t want to be associated with something that sparks hate and discrimination. I have nothing against anybody who believes in God. Ive seen all these things about kids singing about Barack Obama and I think its creepy. I also think its ridiculous to say kids cant sing Christmas carols in school. I remember i was in elementary school when it started to happen and I thought it was ridiculous.

You are telling me that I am wrong, but you have no proof. Show me proof as to why there is no God. I thought you science lovers thrived on proving your hypotheses with evidence. Well then, chop chop, present your evidence.

What I am saying is that I believe that there is a God. You are saying that I am wrong, but you present no evidence. It is impossible to prove it one way or another with physical evidence, so why is it such a crime for me to hold my beliefs? Are my beliefs directly harming you? No, they aren`t, so why do you care?

Freedom of religion is great. All the religious people can do whatever they want. In order to respect that core aspect of American society, the government should not endorse one religion over another. You can pray as much as you want in school if you are not disruptive but school officials should not lead students in prayer. You can carry a copy of the ten commandments around with you and tell as many people as you wish about them but the city should not put them on display. That would be advocating one religion over another. I don`t understand why people have such a problem with that. You are free to practice your religion as you see fit. Beyond enforcing that religious freedom for ALL religions, why should the government have anything to do with it?

First off Angilion, its important to know the origin of all the statements in the Bible. Example, Mosaic law isn`t followed because those were a set of laws intended for moises and his people.

Hey TypicalJerk, you got it. I am making it out that God gave us our government. Have you noticed that moral corruption and forsaking religion are inversely proportional to the effectiveness of our government? That is because he is taking away our divine government by letting people like Obama destry it. Everyone says, "Lets become like Europe. They have such a better lifestyle than us." Well, I say that is crap. Our ancestors came to America to get away from Europe, so why would we want to go back to being like them. I mean, lets see... where did WWI and WWII happen? And the Cold War (partially)? Yeah, that is what I think of Europe; just a bunch of people that make problems for everyone.

Man, why do you atheists have to be so outspoken. I mean, you are only 15% of the population (of America), so it would make more sense if everyone was bashing you and your beliefs.

I did not ask you to define "moral" and "ritual".

I did ask you to provide any evidence *from your own religious book* to support the distinction between moral rules and ritual rules *within that religion* and the claim that the former must be obeyed and the latter ignored.

You can use any "algorithm" you like to present evidence that the distinction has a theological basis and is not simply made up to justify whatever pick `n` mix of rules you want to make. If you have any evidence to present.

Where to begin? There are so many errors in his logic its hard to respond to them all.
What’s controversial about the ten commandments? lets see 1. I am the lord your god 2.thou shall have no other gods 3.thou shalt not take the lords name in vain 4. remember the Sabbath.
If having 15% of the country as atheist is a problem then what is the proper percentage 10? 5? 0? what about Buddhists and Jews what’s the proper percentage for them. And who should solve the problem and how? The government? Maybe we can send them all to camps. Further more he presents no evidence that atheists favor one form of government over another. FYI Charlie Rangel is a Roman Catholic not an atheist. Oh and by the way the reason the founding fathers put separation of church in state in the constitution is because they came from a country that recognized the greatness of God. Any one ever hears of the Church of England?

Rights are no more handed down from God than they are given by a government. I will never think that a government has "given" us rights, because rights are not given. Do I think rights are given to us by God? No, because God could take them away for whatever reason the sick f*ck wanted to.

But Glenn Beck sounds like an idiot when he says that without God you are left with some "hole." Yeah Glenn, we are left with a hole. It was previously filled with bullsh*t, and now we`re going to fill it with friends, family, and the reality of this universe.

Evil Eye, I have no problem with atheists. What I have a problem with is people telling me that my beliefs are wrong and trying to take them away from me. My church says that all men/women are entitled to their own beliefs and that we should allow everyone to worship how, where, or what they may. I let everyone believe what they want, but I can`t stand it when people get "offended" because somebody displays a religious value or belief in public. The first amendment guarantees freedom of speech, yet people absolutely hate it when they see a poster that says something like, "Jesus loves you."

It should be obvious to anybody sane that the clips shown are an extreme, that America is not, by law or by vast majority, a Christian country and that from God is not where we derive our values from, ostensibly. Our values are derived from free enterprise and the 6 constitutional principles taught in most high school government classes, none of them saying anything about a deity.

As for linking atheists to the messianic worship of Obama, that makes no sense. A-theist, without a god. Worshiping a human as a god is not atheism...

What about...well, you get my point. Religion does not do good. People do good. Religion is a tool, or an instrument for some people to exploit--and others to use for good.

It is the people that matter. Not the religion. Or the beliefs. Because people can espouse whatever they want--it`s what they do that matters.

Do not hold religion up on a pedestal. It doesn`t deserve it. Neither does atheism. People should be held accountable. Not their belief systems.

They killed a lot of drating people. Which has NOTHING to do with atheism. If you can even compare an atheist to a Nazi then you`re fu(king sad. You`re a sad sad person.

Atheists do not go out and rally up together--it`s kind of stupid. Atheists shouldn`t even exist. No one should believe in hocus pocus bullpoo. They shouldn`t believe in the fables of morons living in caves who didn`t wear underwear.

You should believe in the informed and empirical evidence that is before you. And the Big Bang Theory is based on things we know about the universe. Such as the expansion of space. Oh and in case you don`t know. Big Bang is constantly questioned, tested, and argued among scientist. Scientist don`t believe it, it`s a model they are trying to prove. Until it`s proven, they don`t hold it as fact. " It`s also used to prove other things. It fits very well with the idea that all the elements were made during the big bang. So far, most of the calculations are looking promising. The problem is since no one was there, we can not undeniably prove it. It`s looking promising though.

Six. Thomas Jefferson, at the greatest stretches of the imagination, was a deist. Otherwise, a Christian.

I agree with every statement I have read from Jefferson on his opinions of religion. *I* could have made those statements. I am not a deist (or a Christian), but I could make all those statements and still be one.

Jefferson: Religion

"Also, to all you scientists who think you know everything and reject religion because you cannot believe blindly in something, tell me exactly how the big bang happened. How did the universe suddenly spawn and what caused it"
That`s a very stupid and naive thing to say. One hundred years ago you could say "Why does the spectrum of hydrogen only have a few specific colors."
They wouldn`t know. Now we do.
We may NEVER know answers to many things, including things like how the big bang happened (which there are theories about, for the record), so that`s just a poor statement.

Lionhart2- He isnt saying that you automatically assumed evil if you are `atheist/other religions`. What he believes is happening is that Atheist have the intention of growing in numbers and taking over government. People will not be seeking God for a void they have. .but government. Which is BAD. No sh*t right?

I am never one to say that Barack is communist. But looking back at the history of other nations that happen to be communist, they brain wash people early in their childhood with "your leader or fuhrer" will save us all - praise him - yada yada.

This whole forum would be sh*tting bricks if it was children singing and people praising McCain.

Got it?

I have two points to argue. First of all, why is everybody so against religion. News Flash! We do not live in medieval Europe where the Catholic church oppresses its people. We live in free America where religion does nothing but good. For example, various churches help poor people with food and basic living supplies. They also provide disaster relief to people in need. The US government dreams of doing this. Churches donate time serving people. The government takes your money and does not provide the services they said they would. Religious people are very nice and try to help others. The average New Yorker is best at saying "f-you" from experience. Why is religion such a bad thing and why do the outspoken athiests feel the need to remove it from everything?

Second point; who says science and religion cannot coexist? Scientists do not know everything, so how do they know that God does not operate under the laws of science?

Religion has started lots of wars, but seriously...NO CHRISTMAS CHORALS, WTF do you think that will help, I`m not atheist nor am I any religion but religion and LACK of religion is a problem of fighting, religions fight each other and atheists, and vise versa use logic but religion is okay.(I just don`t take it seriously)

Glenn Beck is right. The reason our country rose to greatness was because of God. Christopher Columbus says himself that he was inspired of God to sail across the Atlantic Ocean. In his dairy, it says,

"It was the Lord who put it into my mind,(I could feel His hand upon me), the fact that it would be possible to sail from here to the Indies. All who heard of my project rejected it with laughter, ridiculing me. There is no question that the inspiration was from the Holy Spirit, because He comforted me with rays of marvelous inspiration from the Holy Scriptures."

As people have pointed out, our forefathers were all Christian including George Washington (he prayed at Valley Forge). The principals of our constitution are based on Christian morals.

Also, to all you scientists who think you know everything and reject religion because you cannot believe blindly in something, tell me exactly how the big bang happened. How did the universe suddenly spawn and what caused it

However, what people on this forum don`t understand, is I`m more often than not, not irritated by Atheists claiming to be scientists (Look at me I`m clever), but by them being poor representatives of Science.

I support science. I support religion.

When a jackass is being a jackass on behalf of religion, or against religion. It peeves me.

When a jackass is being a jackass on behalf of science, or against science. It peeves me 1000 fold.

When you`re sitting there going ALL OF MY EMOTIONAL BELIEFS ARE TRUE, FOR I AM A SCIENTIST! You do not make your beliefs look good. You make science look bad.

You are taking something that has taken eons to develop, stripping it and using it as a shield to protect your own (often incompetently, hastily thrown together) arguments, where it simply does not belong.

Stop it.

Same goes for the next 40 odd people who claim they are filling their void with logic.

Logically, this suggests you have a void. Is this accurate?
Logically, this dissolves the oft repeated argument that "Science can`t be a religion, it`s just a method", as you`re putting the two on a comparable basis. (they fit the same slot, they are mutually exclusive, the fulfill the same needs)

All of this plays directly into your opponents hands. All of these things are things denied a thousand fold on this forum.

Are you really thinking about what you`re saying logically? Scientifically?

It pisses me off when people like LLef down there make silly remarks as a representative of religion.

Glenn needs to read his Bible, the atheists/other religions are totally innocent.

Colossians 1:16 - For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him.
John 1:3 - All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
Romans 11:36 - For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.
1 Corinthians 8:6 - Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things.

If you do everything right, you become the god of your own planet! I think I`m sold! This has nothing at all to do with Obama. This has everything to do with jackasses like Beck trying to peddle Jesus and and cult that follows him. This Shiite makes me sick.

Lizbian:
He didn`t say atheists fill the void with "buying stuff".
He said they fill it with "Stuff. Things. Power. Careers. Money. Celebrities. Politics. Government."

If you assume a generic term is a specific term, you clearly aren`t filling your void with science.

If you admit you have a void you`re playing into his hands.

If you think the two cannot coincide you are, despite your comment to the contrary, deriding religion, and in a way that mocks all analysis of history over the last thousand years.

What kind of scientist does that make you exactly?

Glenn Beck suggests that because Atheists don`t tolerate the ten commandments, i.e "Thou shall not kill", then that somehow means they believe it`s okay to kill...I don`t understand how people think Atheists are not moral. I`m Atheist and I am very moral and kind to people--I don`t need a religion to tell me what is right or wrong, it`s common sense in most cases.

what he is doing is pointing out the religious like worship of obama that so many of you seem to have. you dont question, you dont rebuke, you just believe obama and big government will lead america to the promise land and that obama is the answer to all of your problems.
what he was saying is that many other people who dont blindly believe in obama (or any one person) already have something to believe in. we believe in ourselves, our neighbors, God, humanity.. and we dont believe in a system that does nothing but breed corruption.
people seem to believe obama somehow came out of chicago politics as the most kind, gentle, honest, righteous man ever to walk the earth.
wake up people. question obama like you question beck and vice versa.

I totally agree with Glenn Beck. And I`m not Republican either.

He makes a really striking point. So many people claim they`re atheist these days, and I am all right with that other than the fact that they, as he says, "fill the gap" with money, power, politics, and sometimes even the government. Glenn Beck isn`t pushing Religion so much as he is pushing the idea of divine law, the idea that one should not put their faiths into people or politics or the government, but instead into what he calls the "divine truth" that isn`t just in the bible, but the Constituion as well.

Thank you for your life changing insight, now I don`t have to keep following that pesky collection of fairy tales. Whew!, now time to go break all of those "laws" Christians follow.

Wait, wait,.....no (as I stated) the information you referred to is not the reason for my Faith and can itself be argued into bits.

Funny how people have mindsets to bash what other people like and or believe (religion/politics/style/appearance/intellect/etc...) all with no particular reason.

And, don`t try to bring up the ole "look what Christians did in the past" worn out argument. Opinion is a personal matter and you can`t personally know everyone.

Best of luck.

You know, it almost like he wants a theocracy instead of a republic. Thus he`d fit nicely in `A hand maiden`s Tale` (at least i think that`s name of the book & movie). And I`ll admit that didn`t watch the whole clip, but he is predictable and moronic to boot. If Americans don`t wise up the average middle class individual will lose everything to fools such as this idiot. Regardless of what political strip that one carries, the loss of your freedoms, rights and privileges are happening slowly. The "show of force" in Pittsburgh is just a rehearsal for what the `average Joe` is going to seeing when the "poo hits the fan".

Two things about this video I guess.
1 - Glenn Beck is a retard, and most people blaming "all" of our problems on one sect of people are wrong.
2 - Idiots are responsible for all of our nations problems. a year or so ago I heard two of my sisters friend`s talking about the upcoming election. One of them said "This is a historic election, I`m voting to put in the black man with a woman vice president, because I think it will change the world." I died a little inside, they were both of age to vote.

And in closing, though not directly about the video, America was founded by Christians under a Christian moral system. If you disagree, you are dead wrong. As time goes on, America extended her protection to all religions, creeds, races, sexes, etc. Why oh why does protecting people`s beliefs always end up in name calling and derision. I can think you are wrong all day, but I don`t blame all of my problems on you. You know who else did this kind of thing? Hitler. Th

Also LOL at: ""What do they fill the void with?"... Um, scientific fact?"

Why not just say AWESOMENESS! Seriously, is your self congratulatory praise really worth all that much?

"Also, does he know that many of the founding fathers were atheists?"

Probably few to none.
Despite efforts to demonstrate otherwise.
E.g. Dawkins tells us John Adams said:
"This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it".

The quote in full tells the opposite story.

"Twenty times in the course of my late reading have I been on the point of breaking out, `This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion at all!` But in this exclamation I would have been as fanatical as Bryant or Cleverly. Without religion, this world would be something not fit to be mentioned in polite company, I mean hell."

The same is true of Madison and Jefferson.
Washington is the only unknown.
