Hanson;
Im american, I guess I`m undereducated in the art of faggots. Here a faggot is considered an openly homosexual person.
And that is polite terms.

@Angilion

I completely understand what your saying. Its true. However, and it may just be me, having "a bundle of sticks" in west country sauce still doesn`t sound appetizing to me.

"Who in hell named this? They need slapped. Hard."

It predates the use of the word `faggot` to mean `homosexual man` and it`s in a different country. `Faggot` still doesn`t mean `homosexual man` in the UK and has only done so the the USA for less than a hundred years.

"British aren`t known for their fine cuisine."

There is a lot of fine British cuisine. National stereotypes are often inaccurate. If they weren`t, then the only food in the USA would be burgers with ketchup, hotdogs with a yellow slop that has a slight taste of mustard and grits. Whatever grits are.

England in particular used to be noted for fine dining. The problem was that fine dining here was associated with a social system that rapidly disappeared. The fine dining vacuum that was left was filled with French cuisine instead. But fine British cuisine still exists.

This has probably already been said, but faggots are just big meatballs. In England, a common name for cigarettes are fags, perfectly normal.

"Seriously what the hell is west country sauce? cause it sounds tasty"

Honestly despite coming from the west country i have no idea what westcountry i have no idea what it is, faggots just come in gravy. I`d guess it involves cider and cheddar cheese though.....

My mind isn`t working properly today... OK, once and for all, I have written how the swedish meatballs are spelled, now, for the pronounciation bit, which I realize won`t be obvious: Fishmanjo, you well close.
Shutbullar I guess would be close, and if you want to get picky, there`s the frenchy "eu" again: Sheutbullar. So there. I shall put an end to this stream of comments from my one account... For a while.

...and now I can`t spell. Sorry for the triple post, but here it is: Kottbullar. With the o pronounced like a frenchy saying "eu".

Male 2,552
Aw crap. It would appear that IAB isn`t able to display this character. Ok, so replace the wierdy letter bits with an "o" with to dots over it. So it`ll be kottbollar, but with dots over the o`s. That`ll be pronounced similar to the frenchies "eu".

>Fishmanjo
Oh dear. "Swedish meatballs" are spelled "köttbullar", although I guess I`ll let you pass, as you probably do not have direct access to the letter "ö".

Yeah these are 100% real, almost certainly made before people used the word faggot to refer to homosexuals.

And yes, I still giggle everytime I hear someone shout "DO YOU WANT FAGGOTS FOR TEA?". They taste quite good though.

in america faggot = every one
britain faggot = food
american fag = every one
britain fag = cigarette

(americans using the term as a gay person fag/gay makes no real sense but meh)

I am from the UK and have seen these many times and they make me giggle every time. Faggots are a normal and accepted form of food, however all homosexual connotations aside the word is not particularly attractive. Couple that with the brand name of Mr Brains and I don`t think you have a very appetising looking packet of food. Does nobody think it is possible that this could be the reason for this being funny rather than some joke on the word faggot?!

Reading through the comments more thoroughly, I have to say this: will you lot grow a bloody pair? It`s just a joke about a stupid name and differences in American and British culture, not some sort of declaration on society. If you actually manage to start a forum war over pork faggots in a west country sauce, it is probably time for you to question your current lifestyle.

Or lack of.

Also, I have to say that I`m english, and even I think they`re stupid. The thing that jumped out at me the most was that they`re apparently made by "Mr Brain."

I mean, what the hell?! Why would you mention the word "brain" on ANY sort of meat packaging?

"More brain-flavoured faggots, anyone?..."

I`d like to think that the humor in this post is not that the "dish" is actually offensive, but that we`re laughing at the cross-cultural confusion.

Not bad for my 700th post!

A brown gravy, peppery, quite salty and thick as well. Pepper seems to feature a lot in the west country Cornish Pasties a full of it. I digress- faggots are offal based and the dish needs to be well seasoned, but plain if you know what I mean?

Faggots are an english form of meatball, and yea We english sometimes get the wrong end of the stick aswell take "Fanny" for example us English use it as slang for female genitaila, as you american use the word to mean an Arse/Bottom.

Please just slightly think before posting and don`t jump to conclutions that everyone is out to insult everyone, cos to be honest they`re not
