Forty-six percent of all poor households actually own their own homes. The average home owned by persons classified as poor by the Census Bureau is a three-bedroom house with one-and-a-half baths, a garage, and a porch or patio. Seventy-six percent of poor households have air conditioning. By contrast, 30 years ago, only 36 percent of the entire U.S. population enjoyed air conditioning. Only 6 percent of poor households are overcrowded. More than two-thirds have more than two rooms per person. The average poor American has more living space than the average individual living in Paris, London, Vienna, Athens, and other cities throughout Europe. (These comparisons are to the average citizens in foreign countries, not to those classified as poor.)
Ah, I got you now, Davy. If we reform the healthcare system, though, it will be accessible to everyone, not just those 45 million.
Yeah, well, there are 307 million Americans total. What I was talking about was the 45 million Americans estimated who can`t currently afford heathcare in the US. I made no typo.
I wonder how many people ever know who Karl Marx is nowadays. :\"
Was he the one who couldn`t speak so had a bicycle horn instead, Slade8?
That`s because they are pro-Obama my little pickle, this is called "Sarcasm" or sometimes "Irony" or "Paradox". Bless your little innocent Canadian cotton socks though.
Really interesting how many Americans don`t get this, I guess it is a reflection of their beautifully direct, simple and honest outlook on the World. :)
First, you don`t understand how the US economy is designed to work and how it`s been allowed to become flawed, through people thinking they can "change it for the better"
Capitalism is supposed to be "economic inequality" This is supposed to make people work hard to acheive what they want instead of having it handed to them.
Second, this phrase "slavery that happened literally seconds ago in the grand scheme of time." made me laugh out loud. Look up the word Literally in the dictionary please. I believe you were looking for the word "Figuratively".
And getting stuck in debt. Anyone can find a way out of debt, if they work hard. Unforunately, many people believe they should be helped out of the debt they got themselves into.
I do however believe a college education should be standard education. If everyone has to pay to go to college, pric
*declares Ballaerina champion*
If you`re going to be condescending, at least do it with the intellectual capacity of a 30-39 year-old.
I agree that reform needs to happen, but I think Obama was prematurely pressured into addressing it -- I think he was more focused on bringing the economy back to stability, but try backing down on it when you have families who are going bankrupt because one member has a major health problem.
Definitely a very complicated issue.
It`s actually more like 450 million people. Kind of complicates matters.
If you`re gay, you can`t marry. If you`re an Atheist, you cant hold public office.Drugs are illegal. The death penalty exists. Most citizens are armed.etc. etc...
Regardless of this, they`ve still got the highest GDP and most advanced military. So hats off for that.
Call me an idealist, but surely no-one should lose their life savings/house/family/job/go bankrupt just because they rolled the dice and ended up with a roll of "Guess what! You`ve got Terminal Cancer! Tough love!"
Frankly I`m stunned that there`s even a debate in the country that markets itself on the world stage as being the freedom guys, your motto being "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness."
As long as you`re rich and don`t get cancer, that is.
You guys are weird.
Best Regards,A European.
Centrism for instance?
Actually no. I hate centrists. Bunch of wusses they are.
He`s a Stalinist.
Either way, drat `em all. I`m a Rothbardian for life.
Dem euro-peons surely have no idea what racism is... They definitely never went through something similar to a holocaust.
The points you make about racism don`t even relate to Obama`s race, just his religious orientation. You are an embarrassment. Go wave your flag, chug a beer, and continue with Nascar.
I wonder how many people ever know who Karl Marx is nowadays. :\
BTW, what does "om nom nom" mean? call me a n00b, but i dont get it"
Om nom nom is the sound someone makes when eating like there`s no tomorrow. At least you spelled N00b right. You have been redeemed.
BTW, what does "om nom nom" mean? call me a n00b, but i dont get it
"it`s progress, therefore it`s scary"I judge by your avatar you`re 14 years old? Do you have any idea what comes with it? I`m all for universal healthcare, but what`s in the bill is NOT progress.
and the guy on the right is lolicious (no homo)
I don`t spend every moment of my short life looking for this pooe. ( well maybe just a bit ) How else would I have stumbled upon IAB
It is nice to see the kid on the left supporting some sort of grand old party though...
Have you seriously never heard of LemonParty?
TubGirl, LemonParty, Hai2u, MeatSpin, and Goatse are collectively known as the "big 5"
Meaning that anyone over the age of 16 and capable of using the internet should have heard of them by now.
If an American demands to know how health care will add more entitlement to the budget, or add to the projected $10 trillion deficit, it`s because he must be a racist.
If an American worries that new mandates and regulations will drive up the cost of insurance for middle class families, making it even costlier than it is today, it`s because he hates n*ggers.
It`s such an easy "gotcha" when replying back, you don`t even need to know the facts of the debate...
Take a look at the humor of everybody elses poster around her (I seriously doubt you consider LemonParty a legit political website), and I think you`ll see the sarcasm.
"So the third guy over`s inference is that only white people have a problem with Obama?"
No, his inference is that the protest they are making fun of has about 98% white people.
LRN UR NEWZ.
Rabble rousers.. LOL, I`m going to try and use that phrase at least once today.
