osirisascend > I`m pretty sure I couldn`t withdraw that much. Or if I could, the limit would be something like $10k. But then its not your typical request is it? Its not like every other person is cashing $10k every time they visit. But this 10% fee you mention is brutal. And I mean REALLY brutal. Even among banks, yours sucks. I`d recommend switching.

what sort of drugs was this man on to actually write all those zeroes? i mean seriously, no amount of idiocy or ignorance could possibly provoke a person to REALLY believe that would work.

let`s take a field trip to the first grade and see how many kids think that ploy would fool the bank. Ooh! good idea, let`s actually do that!

*gets on IAB bus*

@ LazyMe484: Yes, they do suck. But ALL banks have policies that benefit them over their depositors! Next time you`re at YOUR bank, ask them how long it would take them to process a $20,000 withdrawl if you had that much on deposit with them, and what penalties there would be for doing so.

I think you`ll be surprised at the control they arbitrarily take over YOUR money.

I think you`ll

Wow. Your bank REALLY sucks. I mean I though I disliked my bank, but now I`m kinda glad.

@ obhwfgirl: I have other investments including a stock portfolio, that goes without saying. My point is that in my opinion, banks are no longer trustworthy institutions. Therefore, as opposed to trusting them with my liquid assets, I will take the responsibility of keeping them secure myself by buying gold, which is easily converted into cash without a bank being involved.

At this time I have no use for any bank services other than a small checking account anyway, and I, like most people am disgusted at the restrictions that bank put on my access to MY money.

I don`t need a different bank, the banks need to stop holding their customers hostage.

Next time you`re at YOUR bank, ask them what procedures you`d have to follow if you wanted to withdraw 10K of YOUR money right there on the spot. I think you`ll be horrified at how they are able to restrict your access to YOUR money.

@osirisascend

You need a new bank. Ask them about their loaning policies. If they`re a concervative bank, then they won`t take risks with your money. Also, look at your bank account. If your account isn`t highly variable, then take the cushion and put it into a high-interest closed CD.

You just have to know that banks WANT you to save money. You put money in their bank for 3% interest, they loan it out for 12% interest -- they pocket that 9%. No savings, no loans.

A new level in stupidity.

Most bank branches have less than $50,000 in cash on the premises at any given time anyway, and significantly less than that within an hour of the close of business that day.

In fact, if you wanted to withdraw a substantial amount, say $10,000 you`d have to call the bank in advance, and then they`re going to tell you that they have to order the cash, which can take them two or three business days!

My bank won`t allow me to withdraw more than $360 a day from an ATM, and I just found out that if I wanted to withdraw more than $4000 at once, they will charge me a penalty of 10% of the amount withdrawn!

I will now be taking ALL of my money OUT of the bank except for a small checking account, buying gold coins with it, and burying those somewhere on my property. They`re paying me less than 2% interest on a sizable deposit of cash, all of which they get back from me in "fees" anyway, plus a little bit more.

Banks SUCK.
