I think those rigs generate electricity to charge small devices. Cellphones, mp3 players, etc.

"Gives a whole new meaning to having a "3rd leg" LOL"

Not really, it adds a leg on each side... so 4?

I`m thinking about getting metal legs. It`s a risky operation, but it`ll be worth it.

What do you mean TalcumX? You could jump 50 feet into the air with less energy. That would be awesome. I could see some very creative suicides happen with this device.
Why would I want to jump 50 ft. into the air?
Less energy than what?
Creative suicides? you need help

Paraplegics today, but also for firefighters in the future. If there`d be a similar construction for strengthening the spine and arms, you`d be able to lift tons, which can be very useful. This could well be used to magnify input physical strength to more than people who have medical problems walking. About the muscles atrophying (I think I know what that means...), I am sure they woill be able to work around that. Give them time. I just hope this doesn`t make humans into complete superlazy slobs.

this is a device to help you walk MORE while using less energy.

Uh , if you`re using "less energy", aren`t you burning less calories? Your muscles would also atrophy due to the lack of resistance. I could see where a paraplegic could benefit, but other than that, nah.

No worries, as soon as we get nano tech a bit further we`ll all be looking like bodybuilders even if we eat mcdonalds "food" for breakfast, lunch and dinner ;)

I did a small research project on these. The robotic suits were built with healthcare and the military in mind. People with muscle disorders can move and soldiers can carry massive weights that would normally be too heavy for a human.

The way these machines work is through a network of sensors throughout the "legs" or "arms". When the user`s leg, for example, exerts pressure on the sensor, the robotic leg moves away from the source of pressure and thus we have the movement.

"I predict Japan will soon pass America in highest percentage of obese population."

This would make people walk more instead of driving. Especially with all that traffic.
