"cant they just put up a fence"

can`t people just climb fences? it`d be a waste of money.

"cant they just put up a fence"

It`s been out of the scope of the current fiscal allowance for bridge maintenance!

haha supersmash said jumping from this bride

I think the golden gate bridge is the one they made a documentary on about people jumping from it, and they actually had people on tape doing so, they would then go and talk with the families about it. the documentary was called the bridge I believe

The consequences of jumping from this bride are fatal and tragic...for you, but probably good for the rest of us.

Not sure what to say about this. I`m pro-choice, of course.

The bridge has been so cold and insensitive since it`s breakup with this woman,

I think it would be more effective if the sign read, "The consequences of jumping from this bridge are pain and more pain."

Afterall, to say the consequences are fatal is like saying, "Yep, you`ve come to the right place."

Oh, and I`m pretty sure you`d be a douchebag and a complete waste of life to prank the crisis center. How that would be funny, I don`t know.

"Toronto`s happy time bridge used to be The Bloor Danforth Viaduct.... until they put this net thingie on it."
Now people jump in front of subway trains. No offense to anybody, but that`s just more depressing, because it makes you late, and the whole time you`re waiting for the delay to pass, you`re just thinking `Somebody probably jumped.`

"I`ve seen two people jump off that bridge and known two others who did. It`s not a pretty thing. It`s equivalent to hitting concrete, except after your fleshy body pops, it sinks into the water for a day or two until the decomposition bloats the body and it washes up in some random spot in the bay. I was on the Sherriff`s boat when they picked up a floater. It was one of the most disgusting things I`ve ever seen. "

My day is ruined.

Agree totally. Offer a bang-up meal and a hooker to any potential jumpers, provided they jump nightly at 7 pm on the dot, open a restaurant with a view and view platforms, even a special jutting-out platform for the jump, and you`d have a major dollar spinner and tourist attraction.

Typical - I live in the SF Bay area and this doesn`t surprise me. They put sign up after another person threw themselves off the bridge recently. The authorities believe it just isn`t good for tourism to have people launching themselves off our famous bridge. I say, if ya wanna kill yourself that badly, make an appt. - we`ll have lots of tourists there for your final moment and take pix and everything - most of the tourists would love it. I`ve had some ask me if I`ve ever seen anyone jump!! People are strange.

I fond it funny they actually have a sign on the first place. If I was ever suicidal, I wouldn`t do the Golden Gate bridge anyways, one - I would have to go to America, and two - it`s so cliched. I`m goin out in style baby.

With its classic, world-renowned beauty and spectacular setting, the San Francisco Bay`s Golden Gate Bridge is a magnet for would-be suicides. The turbulent waters at its base, the Raccoon Strait, are feared by mariners, so success in killing oneself is virtually guaranteed.

The 67-metre fall from the bridge takes four seconds, and jumpers hit the water at 120 kilometres per hour. As of 2006, only 26 people are known to have survived the jump. The official suicide count ended in 1995, when the number approached 1,000. In the eight years preceding 2003, there was an average of one suicide jump every two weeks, which brought the unofficial total to more than 1,300 suicides.
