Isn`t that really dangerous because it gets gas everywhere? And for the ones who were driving and didn`t notice, didn`t the tube ripping make a loud noise?

... How do people end up doing this? It`s so simple...
Distraction. Probably were talking on their phone at the time.

I have to confess - I did this once: drove off with the nozzle still in the fill tube. Don`t remember the details, other than I was having a bad day, and obviously distracted (but not on the phone).

Good thing it had an emergency breakaway connector installed in the hose. Made a pretty good noise when it popped loose, so I noticed right away. No damage to anything, and no gas spilled. I was able to simply click the hose back together.

In Australia, the nozzles that you can click on and leave to pump the fuel are illegal; you have to be squeezing the handle the whole time to get fuel to flow. I guess that makes it a lot harder for this sort of thing to happen here, cause you can`t forget it. But still, if these people can forgot a simple thing like taking the hose out, how safe is it to let them use the road at all? What if they forget which color traffic light means stop, or which side of the road to drive on?

PS knowing which side to drive on is easy to remember in Oz - the LEFT side is the RIGHT side, the RIGHT side is the WRONG side. See? Easy!

I totally did number 9... only it was the front end and it really messed up my truck. The headlight points down and off to the left and part of the bumper had to be cut off. But the piece of garbage still runs, so I can`t complain too much.
The accident was, of course, due to my poor judgement. I left the house without coffee.

here in canada, well in british columbia anyway, u have to prepay for your gas. but, you have to pump it, like push the button on the handle the whole time anyway...so the gas will go in... so i just dont understand how you could forget to take it out. how is that possible?

maybe the gas station attendant if you get full serve...

nope. i still dont see it.

btw, have u guys noticed that the people driving the nicest cars are the crappiest drivers...life is crazy

That`s not how it works in the states, Shellie. Here, we slide our card through, pump the gas, and sometimes wait in the car until it is done pumping. That`s where you get mucked up. Haha.

    yeah, it doesn`t make sense...

I`m a very forgetful person, I`ll get up and walk towards the bathroom and forget where I was going and go sit back down and not remember to go again for 30 min to an hour, also get up and forget what I wanted to get and go back...its tough being me.

but even then, I have NEVER forgotten about gas pump is in the car. I have never lost/forgotten the gas cap.

then again, I do know some brain dead idiots (mostly girls) who WOULD do this. one tried it with me in the car...good ol` emergency brake :)

Yeah but all the cool peeps get the fuel cap and stick it through the handle so it keeps the trigger pushed in. Mind you, I never managed to forget that the pump was still in the car though and I can`t even remember what I had for breakfast this morning o.O

... How do people end up doing this? It`s so simple...

Distraction. Probably were talking on their phone at the time.

I have to confess - I did this once: drove off with the nozzle still in the fill tube. Don`t remember the details, other than I was having a bad day, and obviously distracted (but not on the phone).

Good thing it had an emergency breakaway connector installed. in the hose. Made a pretty good noise when it popped loose, so I notice right away. No damage to anything, and no gas spilled. I was able to simply click the hose back together.
