If you"re going to make a political claim against the President, misspellings kind of lessen your claim.

It`s a case of bad grammar not spelling. And failed wordplay.

Commandeer and Thieve is an action and it`s Commander-IN-Chief not AND.

Commandeerer-and-Thief would be a clever bit of wordplay on Commander-in-Chief but in this case they did fail but not because of their spelling skills.

I don`t get what`s wrong with it. Commandeer is a word! If would make more sense if it was "thief" instead of "thieve." Oh well, it`s not *that* bad.

The only thing that I see wrong with the sign is the `Commander and Cheif.` I see alot of people who are confused as to the second one.

comâ‹…manâ‹…deer
/ˌkɒmənˈdɪər/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [kom-uhn-deer] Show IPA
Use commandeer in a Sentence
See web results for commandeer
See images of commandeer
–verb (used with object)
1. to order or force into active military service.
2. to seize (private property) for military or other public use: The police officer commandeered a taxi and took off after the getaway car.
3. to seize arbitrarily.

And Thieve is obvious. This sign is not that idiotic.

The only thing wrong is that it should be "Commander-in-chief," but then the second part would make no sense seeing that it`d be "Commandeer-in-thieve."

This picture makes me wonder if there`s anything republicans are not hypocritical about. Against spending when they`re not in charge. Preach moral values whilst bragging of sexual conquests. Voting against gay rights whilst cruising for men. Against end of life counselling unless you`re Terry Schiavo. Claim to defend the constitution whilst spying on Americans. Have they no shame?

And I am a typical republican, besides being a registered independent. I was against Bush`s economic policy, disagree with some of the views of the tea-party protesters, and acknowledge the failing of numerous parts of the U.S. government. I also give credit where credit is due, understand that decisions are difficult and not always black and white.

Yep, just your good ol` back country Republican. I`m gonna go attend a rally and watch Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck rape poodles.

Continuing, the wars did increase the deficit, but the CBO has reported that Obama`s stimulus, omnibus, proposed spending, and additional bailouts will more than double the current deficit, a mighty hefty price tag. England tried to fix a failing economy with more government spending, you may want to see what happened there. Congress would be wise to do it too.

And finally, I assuming you don`t know much about Penn State. We have the highest IN and OUT of state tuition of ANY "state-appropriated" institution in the entire country. We hardly see any federal money, and our state legislature has abandoned us for years. Mind you that it is a Democrat who is the current governor of this state and he has missed the deadline for the state budget by about 4 months.

WE ARE, for all intents and purposes, a private university. The only thing connecting us with the state is the land-grant we were given back in 1862.

Heureux,

I know that Bush was the first to push the bailouts. I said that in my statement, and personally I disagreed with them, because I had a feeling they would be fruitless. Obama pushed a second round of bailouts though, preaching that we could not afford to have GM and Chrysler go into bankruptcy. Then as soon as they filed, Obama said that bankruptcy was necessary for both to begin to heal and get back on their feet.

So why did Bush and then Obama pump in billions of taxpayer money saying they couldn`t fail, and then once they fail, Obama touts it as a necessary evil. The billions of dollars could have been skipped easily, but now its wallowing in bureaucrat hell, and who knows when it will be repaid in full.

Dookie, I was unclear on the czars having their power extended. Some people believe it could happen at any time, as I was pointing out. I don`t believe it to that degree. I believe having that many is a bad precedent, and while unlikely, they could have a growing influence that could go beyond their original intention. Again, unlikely, but not crazy to consider.

As for the tea-party protesters, it can look hypocritical, but they believe it was justified to spend on the wars. The problem is, the wars can stimulate the economy, let`s face it the defense sector is strong. Now I did complain when Bush was pushing his bailouts, because I realized, especially the auto companies, were going to have to go into bankruptcy anyways. Bush`s bailouts were unnecessary and Obama`s second round was equally unnecessary. The wars, I felt were justified (not for WMDs or finishing the job), but managed badly. I would get into the value of these wars, but I think it would be a little pointless.

The interesting thing about Republicans is that the accusations they make about others always indicate exactly what they would do if they could.

The nonsense `commandeer in chief`, while completely inaccurate when applied to Obama, does fit the way Bush commandeered legislation, repeatedly, with his signing statements.

The claims about fascism and socialism - no one has brought this country closer to either, than Republicans, from McCarthy to Helms to Reagan and both Bush`s. Now lowest common denominator of conservatives are actively adopting the bully strategies that fascists are known for, all the while falsely accusing everyone else of being fascists - yet it is only the conservatives who insist that only their idealogy has any place in society - which is what fascism is all about.

Dakkar

The U.S. `acquired` GM because conservatives insisted that GM could not be allowed to fail.

As for Obama`s budget - the largest expense is the wars that Bush started, and our military complex in general, which has consistently inflated with each Republican president.

You attend a public college - it is a bit hypocritical of you to complain about the government financing public anything.

What possible proof do you have Dakkar that Obama`s "self-appointed Czars," as the rightwingers love to call them despite the fact that many were actually confirmed by Congress, can, at any time, expand their advisory roles to whatever you are suggesting? In any even, many of these people showing up at these teabagging circle jerks are doing it solely because Fox News tells them to. One can merely see many of the other home spun signs to get a sense as to how stupid some of these people are as well as how clueless they appear to be. Where were all these folks when Bush was lying us into a war and spending billions, if not trillions, on his criminal escapades? Many of these folks are I am a pretty pretty little girling hypocrites who are too little too late at a time when Obama doesn`t have much of a choice in grappling with the horrific legacy left to him by the previous administration.

Buy a clue for once. Or would these teabaggers rather let the cards fall where they

If you really want me to dumb down my comments and use a lesser vocabulary, I will see if I can accommodate your needs. Otherwise, I will use the extent of my vocabulary as I see fit, and in political discussions, I like to sound just a bit better than an average internet user.

And also, please note that I was interpreting what this man`s message was on his poster. No where did I say that I supported or disagreed with his claims. I acted solely as a third-party interpreter to clearly dissect and present the message as I saw it.

Evidence - U.S. Government has acquired GM, and with the bailouts started with Bush and carried on by Obama, there is a chance that other corporations can be also be acquired. This fact is generally accepted in the political community. It may or may not happen, but the possibility definitely exists, which is what I stated.
-Obama has employed more czars than any previous President before him. While their power is not well defined, the currently have no checks or balances from the legislative or judicial branches, this is known. Currently they are in an advisory role, but this power can easily be expanded.
-The Congressional Budget Office has clearly stated that Obama`s spending is unprecedented and will increase the deficit dramatically. Economists have stated that it will only be reduced once spending is cut back and taxes are raised. Please note the CBO is a non-partisan organization.

No, commandeer AND thieve is perfectly acceptable and is in all likelihood exactly as this fellow wanted it to be. He is suggesting that Obama has commandeered the country/economy, i.e. `dissolving` checks and balances, ignoring his bipartisan message, employing a literal ass-load of czars, and has put himself in a position for the U.S. government to acquire private corporations (ala GM).

He is then thieving because his spending will undoubtedly raise the deficit, will in all likelihood can only be reduced by raising taxes on later generations. And taxing the richest 1% won`t be able to make a significant cut into the deficit, the middle class will have to be taxed. But Obama will be well and gone by then and everyone will blame the President that is forced to raise these taxes. Therefore, Obama is thieving from later generations and effectively framing a later President.
