Nice pic though..
if humans can be stupid enough to elect Obama, i`m pretty sure falcons can be stupid enough to try this...
But think of it not as a fail, but as a very nearly impossible win, making victory oh so much sweeter
I would`ve liked to see what happened two seconds later...
Jokes aside, a thought for all the troops out there risking their lives everyday. The cause might or might not be just, this is another question.
So the entire 600 year old medieval sport of falconry, where the Falcon is trained to go catch rabbits, pheasant etc, is a huge urban myth?
No actually you`re almost right, they PREFER to attack things in the air but they do hunt ground prey too. Difference between Hawks, Eagles and Falcons.
Seems every single falcon I`ve ever seen (& I`ve seen quite a few) has failed to get that memo...the ones that used to live near us were particularly fond of mice & rabbits...& pet chickens if they could get them.
I`m really sad now!
He`s gon` rip that sh** off.
Man, I am SUCH a loser...
Now consider the tortoise and the eagle.
The tortoise is a ground-living creature. It is impossible to live nearer the ground without being under it. It`s horizons are a few inches away. It has about as good a turn of speed as you need to hunt down a lettuce. It has survived while the rest of evolution flowed past it by being, on the whole, no threat to anyone and too much trouble to eat.
And yet the eagle will sit for hours on the crag and survey the kingdoms of the world until it spots a distant movement and then it will focus, focus, focus on the small shell wobbling among the bushes down there on the desert. And it will leap...
And then the eagle lets go.
And almost always the tortoise plunges to its death. Everyone knows why the tortoise does this. Gravity is a habit that is hard to shake off. No one knows why the eagle does this. There`s good eating on a tortoise but, considering the effort involved, there`s much better eating on practically anything else. It`s simply the delight of eagles to torment tortoises.
But of course, what the eagle does not realize is that it is participating in a very crude form of natural selection.
One day a tortoise will learn how to fly
It doesn`t effect Ground Tortoise.
you were the first to say it. have fun cleaning up.
