This still isn`t as bad as the dumbest human associated with politics, Sarah Palin, claiming that Obama`s health plan is going to kill her son because he has Down`s Syndrome. I think she has seriously flipped out. She has gone from irrational to paranoia. Come to think of it, she prolly made this pamphlet.

"Seriously, is there something inherently wrong with Republicans?"

Maybe, but the guy who produced this pamphlet, Lyndon Larouche, is a Democrat (in the same sense that David Duke is a Republican). Parties cannot control who claims membership.

Comparisons to Hitler and the Nazis are always considered to be out of line because we always jump to the singular evil of the Holocaust. This is unfortunate, because it prevents us from learning the lessons of how the Nazis rose to power. They may have ended up being insane mass murders, but that`s not how they started out, and that`s what we should be looking at now. If we compare Obama not to the Hitler of the 1940s but rather to the European Fasçists of the 1920s and early 1930s, we can see a number of similarities that should give us pause.

It`s too bad that any attempt to study this history causes such hysteria that we may be doomed to repeat it.

    Old Ollie:

The problem there is that you`re committing an entirely different fallacy. The only reason to compare people to the Nazis is the negativity of the holocaust.

Personally I don`t really care if there are "striking similarities" between Nazi hairstyles and his, nor any positive healthcare reforms, nor in taxation policies.

    Are these evil things? No.
Do they lead to genocide? No.
    Do they matter? No.

Unless the similarities are that he`s putting his least favourite ethnic group into gas chambers, your point is moot.

Unless of course your point is "First minor healthcare reform, next it`ll be genocide" in which case your point is moot on entirely different grounds I`m too polite to go into.

Baalthazaq, you completely missed my point. The question is, how did the Nazis acquire so much power that they could then launch WWII and murder 6 million+ people? They didn`t campaign on that platform. They got power by promising to give the people everything they wanted; then they used their mandate to acquire unprecedented powers to the central government including nearly absolute control over the private sector.

Now, does that mean Obama is going to start throwing CEOs, investment bankers, and insurance executives into ovens? Of course not. He already has them trembling in their boots ready to do whatever he asks. If they don`t play along, he will cap their pay, raise their taxes, or simply have them fired. Or maybe he`ll just send a few busloads of hired thugs from SEIU and ACORN out to their houses to harass and threaten their families.

Granted, there are a few right wing nuts using the term Nazi, but not elected Republicans. Elected Democrats, though, use it all the time.

Only ignorant fools who are incapable of their own thoughts would be against a government health care system. The republicans are the party of NO! and NO! is what got us into this tremendous problem. I pay 4K a year for my health insurance and had to fight them to cover my two doctors visits last year for a combined $278. Anyone who thinks that is good, must work for UHC

Alright now I know I may sound like an idiot to some because I don`t pay much attention to politics but can someone please explain to me what Obamas idea for health care is?

I have tried looking it up myself but all i get is crap about Palin calling it Evil and Drug companies backing it or something. I just want to to know WHAT it is supposed to do and what exactly it is. I don`t want any biased opinions like or people telling me it`s a good idea or a bad idea i just want the straight facts about what it is.

    Please.

"Only ignorant fools who are incapable of their own thoughts would be..."

Most tired expression used when it comes to politics. You know that saying can be used both ways, right, LordNick?

Look, I really don`t have anything to say one way or another on this issue, but when people start blurting out these kind of stupid phrases, I feel compelled to lash out.

It can`t be that hard to actually come up with a compelling argument, can it? Is IAB doomed to turn out like IMDb`s message board? I shudder at that thought.

It`s from Lyndon LaRouche. Let`s just say he`s an idiot who wishes he was anywhere half as insightful, clear, and intelligent as Noam Chomsky. At one point he was on the left side, but now he`s so corrupt and self-interested that he`ll do anything for mainstream attention (which is usually not something either insightful, clear, or intelligent).

Oh gosh. Look, I respect some republicans. SOME. I respect some democrats. SOME. But honestly, both parties increase the size of government, end up taxing us more and more, and shave away what is left of our civil liberties. C*ntbag republicans like Sarah Palin & "the government is the answer to all our problems" liberals only make things worse.

Actually verinon, we like helping poor people. We volunteer, we donate, ect. What we don`t like: Taxing people who work hard for their fair share and having that money given to people who don`t work at all. Sure, there are some people who really need it, but there will be many who just steal from the government. The same with welfare.

People who are in that situation don`t go out and get jobs and stimulate the economy because they don`t have to. Why go out and work when the government will give me free stuff?

Universal healthcare will create government run hospitals that have people don`t care about their job. They won`t give attention the patients deserve.

That is my rant of the day thank-you and goodnight.

Btw that pic is totally wrong. Even though I don`t like Obama`s policy`s that doesn`t mean you can treat him like that. He`s our president for goodness sake.

    xx8sic9xx,

I am sick of hearing about the "racism" of everyone who opposes Obama. His administration is destroying America as well as the freedom of american citizens and businesses. He has said on several occasions that he supports nationalized healthcare, and he is willing to overtake the ENTIRE SYSTEM to make sure that every citizen- including illegals and those who freely chose not to pay for insurance- gets healthcare, no matter the quality.

I am also sick of hearing W being blamed for Obama`s mistakes. The truth is this: Obama has QUADRUPLED the national debt and risen unemployment to 9.5% plus, and plans to dump another TRILLION into healthcare.

I could elaborate on each one of those points further, but I choose not to because, closeminded as you are, you would ignore every one of my legitimate concerns about the man and his intentions and continue to call me racist based on the sole reason that I disagree with Obama`s socialist ideals.

    Also, CNN? Really?

This pamplet IS RACIST and also a desperate attempt to scare POOR uneducated people (who would benefit from health care reform)and liberals into thinking that Obama is some kind of a monster.

It`s shameless and wrong. People are dying because they can`t afford good health insurance and a lot of people don`t care because they are selfish.

France, U.K., Switzerland and Canada have good health care systems. The U.S. is the one of the few 1st world countries that is still so BACKWATER on this issue.

Anyone who opposes this reform is a SELFISH IDEALISIC PIG!!!

And another thing, taxes will be raised for those who make over $ 200,000 so unless you and your spouse earn six-diget incomes don`t even bother getting into the whole `taxes` hype.

So to all of you haters: Stop trying to scare people. Sadly, illegals won`t benefit and also the health quality will absolutely NOT go down the drain but that`s wayyy to long of an issue to get into. >:p

Yup, that`s why the rich from those countries pay there way into the U.S. for, you guessed it, U.S. health care.
I`d rather not be able to pay for heart surgery, than to wait for a year to get it. At least I`ll live then.
And health care quality will go down the drain, because Sally IStubbedMyToe is going to be sitting in the doctor`s office instead of putting ice on her toe.

I`m not saying a national health care system is bad, just what Obama is doing is asinine.

    @Zokeman...

Sorry, but you don`t quadruple the national debt and rise unemployment to a 9,5% in less than one year if the former president didn`t screw up big, big time. I am not saying that Obama is a saint, or that he is doing the best, but he is pretty much dealing with the economic poo that Mr. Bush left behind. Same as the rest of the world, actually.

Also, trying to make a National Health System (I admit that I lack precise details, so I will have to do a bit of searching) seems such a good idea from my european-middle-class-can`t-afford-a-trip-to-the-States-to-pay-for-one-of-those-wonderful-doctors point of wiew than I do not see why people opose it so much. "Will someone explain it to me, please?"
Already done, look down the comments page at FlamedNight`s rant. Primarily, what will happen is that, since the government will be paying for healthcare, doctors will get paid no matter what, they won`t care about their work, and suddenly the good medical services the United States currently has are no more, in addition to other things. If Middle Class Americans now don`t go to the hospital because they can`t afford it, just think of how well of they`ll be when the government MAKES them pay for that hospital visit whether they go or not.

Obama also promised during his run for office that the Middle Class would see no tax increases, and has already gone back on that promise. Just because he`s saying the same thing again now doesn`t mean it will be that way.

    riotDX... Thank you.

I don`t share your point of view, though. Might be because I am asmathic and had to spend a week at the hospital some six years ago. I got good treatment, several test to verify that everything was ok (including a TAC, zilions of blood tests, lung tests...), and I did not pay a penny for it, since I pay every month in taxes from my payslip (I live in Spain). A public health system is (at least in my experience) not the "doctors doing nothing because they will get paid nevertheless" scenario that you describe. And if you don`t like it, you still have the chance to go on a private insurance and pay for private doctors so you have more options to choose from.

I still remember my american flatmate at the time asking with eyes wide open... "But how are you going to PAY for this????"

RiotDX, the mid. class who can`t afford HC WILL visit hospitals again when COSTS GO DOWN you retard!!!

HC quality won`t go down because doctors will make more money if their patients get HEALTHIER and NOT by the number of tests they "DO NOT" perform (in order to save the insurance companies money) anymore.

Taxes have RISIN because we`re in a recession and due to the RECESSION there will be more uninsured. We need REFORM!

BTW, if you don`t earn a salary of over $60,000 then YOU ARE NOT MIDDLE CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just because you own a PS3 doesn’t mean you are.

DONKEYboy87, a few rich, hypochondriac people come to the U.S. for HC because they want the extra attention while A LOT of people from the U.S. go to Canada and even Mexico to get the HC that they can`t get here because IT’S EXPENSIVE.

If you don`t like the national Health care plan, stick with your private. 8sic9 has a point, Rich yuppies trying to buy a porshe are the ones who are whining.

Ok, so people think that the health care plan would raise all kinds of taxes... for one, raising taxes is the only way this country will EVER be able to pay off it`s massive dept! And for two, it won`t be that bad. Even if taxes are raised for the purpose of health care, isn`t it worth is... so that everyone can visit their doctor or simply go in to get a simple clean-up from their dentist.

Oh, and to the people that say... doctors won`t care anymore because they won`t get paid as much.
Canada has universal health care and you don`t hear their doctors complaining! if our doctors complain or don`t give people fair treatment it is because they are greedy and should not be doctors.

lizbian: Everyone CAN go visit their doctor today and get quality health care, they just have to pay for it. Or they can get seen by the same doctors with medicaid. We don`t need to let the government take over health care to allow to do what we already can.

Doctor`s are greedy if they complain about the government forcing them to accept lower and lower rates?! I really hope you`re kidding. Doctors are in business and public service, not JUST public service. They need to make money just like everyone else. How about you go to school for 12 years and incur massive debt and then work for a pittance as you are suggesting? Anything else and you would be "greedy."

Good god you have no clue. I know doctors in Canada and they are suffering. Their salaries have taken steep dives. But of what concern is that to you? They`re just there to serve you right?

If this health care plan passes, yes, everyone will be able to go in to see their dentist for a checkup. After sitting on a waiting list for months. And when they finally see the dentist, if a disease is discovered the dentist will be restricted to using treatments approved as cost-effective by the federal government, whether or not there are more effect more expensive treatments out there.

I do not want government bureaucrats making decisions for me instead of my doctor when it comes to my treatment options. I don`t trust the government with my life.

Yep that`s right bikenut, we should just let men in suits in Washington pass whatever bills they want regarding our daily life because we really can`t predict the future.

Except for how bills spell out in words exactly what will happen. And analysts and economists tell those of us who don`t see it ourselves what those bills will mean for us.

The democratic plan will create a public "option" for health insurance. Because it is bankrolled by the government, it will be able to set premiums lower than any private company can. Millions of employers will naturally switch to the gov plan as it is cheaper. Soon private insurance will be forced out of business. Everyone will be in the gov plan. And then the gov has a monopoly and will bully health care providers into using only the drugs and treatments they deem cost-effective. Care is rationed and quality decreases. Americans lose any choice in health care.

    That`s what`ll happen

The simple fact is, we don`t have money to pay for this.

The United States has an aggregate debt of 53 trillion dollars. That means if Americans were to try and pay their debt off TOMORROW each person would have to pay something like $100,000 and each household would have to pay $400,000.
By 2020 we will barely have enough money to pay for medicare right NOW let alone social security and the federal bills ...Not to even mention this new health care plan.

The simple fact is we can`t afford it. I`d like it, hell I have serious health issues that I can`t afford (insurance companies have shelled out millions of dollars for all my procedures/surgeries and treatments. I`m not bragging.) But free healthcare in America isn`t feasible. Even if we took all the money from all the rich people away...we wouldn`t have enough to pay for our current bills let alone pay for a program like what is being suggested.

madest how can you possibly know that? I agree with Obama on some issues, but for the most part we disagree. I agree with him on Afghanistan for example. And I definitely wasn`t for everything Bush did. I`m not a blind follower. I just have conservative principles that guide my opinions, and Obama does not base his policies on the same principles. So we disagree for the most part.

But I still evaluate every position of his with an open mind. Please don`t try to discredit me like that.

Bikenutt: Hasn`t health care in America always been privatized?

The point is that this health care plan will lead to a majority of Americans being shunted into the government plan, which will eventually become the only plan when private insurance goes out of business. Then the government will be in complete control of our health care.

I live in Wales, (a little country in Britain for those who haven`t heard of it) and I wouldn`t say the healthcare plan is brilliant but it means that people are treated pretty much equally, their not divided into class or salary. You walk into any surgery in Wales and you will see old people, young people, middle aged people, lawyers, shop assistants and unemployed people. We all have an equal opportunity to try and be as healthy as we can because of the NHS.

But I must say, doctors in general aren`t as good as they used to be, community wise. They are often impolite and inconsiderate, and unfortunatly, lazy. I`m not by any means saying this is how all doctors are, but from what I, and others have observed, NHS doctors seem to care more about their salary than they do about their patients.

No, health care was not always privatized, at least not to the extent that is is now. In the sixties a Nixon administration official who was involved in lobbying for the drug and insurance co. brought to attention the fact that A LOT of money could be made if insurance Co. were made the official go-between for patient to doctor care. So, one of the most disgraced presidents in history is mostly to blame for this mess...big surprise huh. We have some of the best tech. in the world to help people be healthier except for the fact that over fifty-million Americans have little, if no access to it. I consider this a problem. So did the lady who died in the waiting room as security watched, so did the lady who lost her husband, while she was fully insured and worked at a hospital. Her health plan just did not want to pay the bill, so they "decided" to not cover him and let him die. My advice is to do some research and travel a bit, see how other countries run things.

Mrwnt, you`re not even old enough to vote yet. And although you are allowed to have an opinion like everyone, you haven`t lived on your own yet. You don`t know what its like to be between jobs, pay rent(or mortgage), support a family, etc.

If your umbilical cord ever gets cut I`m sure you`ll understand why a public option is so important.

If the public option (which btw rewards doctors by the health improvement of their patients and not by the amount of money they save the insurance companies) turns out to be not so good then people with your means will stick with their private options, which will be cheaper anyways and will not cease to exist as long as people(like you) demand it. A public option is NOT a big deal, many first world countries have it.

I get the feeling that you want Americans who are in between jobs to go untreated and die out there on the streets. How do you sleep at night?

I have had health emergencies in at least four different countries in the past and even the health care in Mexico (fell off a three story building as a kid) was more organized. mrwnt: If you want to argue a point don`t bring a lot of assumption and conjecture to the table. Moonpervie: The public option will certainly be cheaper than private plans. The public plan will be bankrolled by the entire US government, meaning it doesn`t have to obey the normal laws of economics. It can survive years of deficits by simply adding to the federal debt.

Employers WILL switch overwhelmingly to the public plan because it will be CHEAPER. It`s common sense. Then nearly everyone will be under the control of the government.

Americans do not die on the streets today if they get themselves to an emergency room. Hospitals are required to treat everyone with an emergency, regardless of ability to pay.

87% of Americans are satisfied with their health care. Why should we jeopardize theirs to provide health insurance to the meager 5% of the population that doesn`t have insurance?

Bikenutt: That`s not "assumption and conjecture." That`s economics and the content of the proposed bills in Congress. And your life exp = anectodes. Anectodes are nice stories but pro

Still trying?...I admire your persistence but perhaps you should save the righteous indignation for us old farts. Try losing a friend or relative to our flawed and antiquated medical system. Wait in the hallway on a gurney for ten hrs with a compound fracture caused by a drunk guy on ski`s because you were young w/ no insurance....you have no idea. I am through discussing this. You have obviously led a sheltered life....naive one might say.
When you have lived it and not just talked about it...come back. be warned, it gets much more complex....and a lot weirder. Good luck with that attitude.

Bikenutt: No one said our system is perfect. No system is. But US healthcare is the best in the world, if you can pay for it. And even if you can`t you still receive a pretty damn good level of care relative to the rest of the world.

What is your solution? You are so outraged by the current situation. What you do propose? European-like high taxes so we can all have a utopian type of health care?

*Sigh* Give it up Mrwnt and get your facts straight.

20% of Americans don`t have health insurance. 80% is a number that opponents use to bolster their position against HC. Actually, 3/4th of Americans are unhappy with the costs of HC. So that figure is wrong.

Most of that 80% did not use their health care for anything serious or life threatening this year. A better survey would have been one asking people who ARE CHECKING OUT of hospitals and doctor`s offices.

Its so WORTH IT to risk the current system for those 5% and even more so for the actual 20% something and rising.

This country is CACA compared to other European countries, so mentioning them doesn`t help your argument.

People die waiting in ER`s. Thinking that they get good HC despite not being insured is just naive, wishful thinking. Please try to keep an open mind kid, you might not find a full time job straight out of college. What happens then?

    This was fun. :D

I have a qyestion for all the debators (but I`m not going to lie, mostly twards the anti-health care people.)

How can you be against it (or for it), if you don`t even know what`s on the bill?

But I`m still for universal health care (not saying that it`s going to be, but I think it would be nice if it was). And how can you not? I really don`t get why people are against it! Sure, I`m not as old as most of you, but I still care and have an opinion.

Oh, and the media (Fox News, CNN, ect.) all suck. They only report crap news. :)
