The pilot of this helicopter must have nerves of steel--nice save, captain.

"I`m just curious as to why those people are ducking to climb into the helicopter?"

Because that`s the way people do it on TV.

That`s a Eurocopter EC-350 helicopter. I build those! REPRESENT BABY!!!

I`m just curious as to why those people are ducking to climb into the helicopter? The blades are like nine and a half feet in the air.
MORONS!

Wait, why did he climb out of the canyon? Was it just so the pilot wouldn`t have to bother sending someone down? If so, said pilot is a dick.

This was fake...just like the lunar landings.

They used a green screen. Notice the blip when the helicopter takes off?

"Angilion, you dont know poo."

I`m willing to accept that you are more acquainted with faeces than I am, DeathDefy877, but what does that have to do with this video?

If you think I`m wrong, feel free to explain why.

I agree that the cliff that looks close to the rotors is actually probably further back... but hey, I wasn`t there. Good job, either way! Nice save.

"The cliff walls are the dangerous part here, but it looks like the pinnacle he`s landing on drops off to the right, and the cliff that looks like it`s near the rotor is actually several hundred feet behind him.
Landing a helicopter on a pinnacle like this isn`t all that hard, I`ve landed on smaller ones and I`m just an amateur. The key is to keep your power up, such that you only put about 50% of your weight on the ground. At that point you`re almost in a hover, and the ground is steadying your skids. This way, if something slips or starts going wrong, it`s easy to pull out of it. (Of course my flight instructor was in the right seat at the time, which also helps a lot ;) "
Thanks for the advice...everyone here knows what your on about! :P

I would not doubt it the chopper was actually as close as it appeared. These pilots are bad ass. I have seen them land with only feet to spare in less urgent situations.

That is an extremely lucky hiker! Can you imagine what it feel like to believe you`re going to die alone and miserably and then seeing a helicopter coming to save you?

Having said that, rescue helicopter pilots are extremely skilled and brave. Getting your rotors within a few inches of a cliff goes over the line into "stupid". So I think there`s actually more clearance than this camera angle shows.

I doubt if it`s as close as it seems, because that would have been too much of a risk for not enough reason. Air movement by cliffs is not entirely predictable and can move a helicopter a little. You wouldn`t take one that close to a cliff to rescue uninjured people who were safely on a flat area at least 30 feet wide and long.

Balls of Steeeel!
When I was in the Navy, in subs, we would listen to the Coast Guard saving all the stupid rich people who didnt know how to operate their boats. People should be careful.

I don`t think the rotor blades are as close to the rocks as it appears, I think it`s an optical illusion...

See? A rubber dong to the teeth doesn`t knock all of them out, but falling down a cliff does.

That pilot is definitely hanging low. I`m pretty sure I wouldn`t have the testicular fortitude to even attempt that... Even if I could fly a chopper.
