listen to a real tech.. we normally tell people to wipe their system, re-install, and ADD MORE RAM!! Most of those things i wouldn`t tell people to do because its beyond the scope of your average commenter.

"OMFG GRadde, you mean you haven`t reinitiated your processor bus`s secondary dataflow facilitation manifold by bypassing the kernel shell I/O subroutine with a latent LAN ping buffer lately? How the hell is your computer still working!?"

I don`t recommend doing these, unless you are somewhat computer savvy. A lot of these could permanently drat up your computer.

I`m sure that these are great, but I don`t get them. I am a computer-illiterate. Most of these, to me, sound like: "Fix the [something] setting on the [something] for extra speed." or "Make this faster to make you computer faster."

I`m sure they work. I just don`t understand it.

I should have know better than to ask an avid PC user to look at actual facts when blind faith and ignorance serves so well.

"
... Who cares?
Can`t everyone just get the computer they want and stop nagging everyone else about their choices?"

All that really shows is that you liek to waste money and know nothing about computers, most people will overspend on crappy computers, and won`t properly maintain it therefore causing them to waste money on another computer, so on and so forth.

actually wait 99% of people who use computers don`t even know binary nevermind. i won`t waste my time

@ Lionhart2

I stand by my answer bang for buck wise a PC is beter. How many games can you play on a Mac and what are your upgrade options down the road? Also how many servers do you see that are Macs?

> Tip to Make your MAC faster. 1.) Get a PC

Your ignorance is astounding in this day and age. Sure 20 years ago people were that stupid about the "Opposition", but have you even bothered looking up REAL facts in the last 20 years?

And your advice fails anyway, because Macs ARE a PC, they`ve had BOTH chipsets in them (NOT emulation) for at least 6 years. In fact, my $800AU MacMini runs XP and Vista faster than my $4000AU Dell T7500.

See, lists like these are soooo dangerous for people like me - me being a semi computer illiterate ie; I know enough to cause more problems! These hints sound so fun and challenging to me that I wanna just blaze thru and try them all (`cept the Vista stuff - I no gots Vista, only XP). Then I would turn into my alterego: UberBitch and wonder why my dam computer quit working and then take it to my favorite tech friend and say "I don`t know what happened, I turned it on and that`s what I got, I swear!" As she slowly pounds her head against her desk, saying `nonononono`....heh heh my friend loves me lots....

Some of the information regarding changing your bios and such does not sound like a good idea for the average computer user. I`m just lucky to live in silicon valley, the nerd capital of the world Just about everyone I know is proficient in Tech. which is a good thing since I suck at it.

I love how everyone is saying use firefox. While firefox is better for many reasons it is not the fastest. FF has a huge memory impact and one of the slowest Cold start and load times.

Even Mozilla browser was faster. If one seeks speed with out the bloat then they should use Opera and Chrome are tied but opera takes up resources.

most of the list is complete crap.

This is one of the worst lists I have ever seen. I would never recommend overclocking to just anyone as a way of boosting performance. Updating the BIOS? Anyone with real tech knowledge will tell you to avoid doing that unless there is a good reason. Speeding up your PC is not a good reason. Not when a failed update to the BIOS will brick your motherboard and void the warranty so you can forget having it replaced once you goof it.

The best way to increase performance for an average user is to simply keep the machine cleaned up and defragged.

i couldn`t agree more. but since i`m not the avarage user, i can say im happy with my 30% overclocked P4. }-)

"IE sucks, if anyone on here is using it you don`t deserve to have access to the internet..."

Whats so bad about it? it works fine for me. I tried firefox to see what the fuss is all about and it takes for ever to load up, constantly trys to updates but never manages it

"None of this happens on a Mac btw. They just don`t get slow. My old Macbook is 5+ years and it still runs as fast as when I first got it."

That`s because they run slowly to begin with.

also, about macs going slow (twigglepuff), you must not use it for anything other than checking email or something.

for 7 months i used brand new specialized macs for audio engineering in a $300,000 recording studio, and almost every day i found some new area where they can`t compare to my 5 year old HP desktop.

they crashed whenever i had anything more than itunes open, and on a good day i would only get the beach ball once.

right now i have itunes, chrome, sonar 6 pro, pro tools 8 LE, Limewire, photoshop, bitcomet, steam, and the oregon trail opened and my computer is still running faster than kenyans. (and yes, i only opened these up so i could say theyre up)

i don`t want to say anything mean like "macs are a joke," but it`s hard to disagree.

Perhaps, but I like to do stuff when I use a computer. I don`t like just sitting watching a glossy styled button graphic.
