i saw this movie yesterday. im going to be perfectly honest. the audience (much like reason #5 in the link) was comprised primarily of teen girls, who reacted more to the 1 minute long TWILIGHT TRAILER than the actual movie. no joke.

Wow....that actually amazes me that people do that kind of stuff. What amazes me more is how big fans say it was "the best movie ever!" when in reality that movie seriously sucked. I saw it opening night with my GF, Got there 2 hours early too. After the movie I went to the manager and asked for my 10 bucks back.

I went to the midnight showing, dressed up as a hogwarts schoolgirl. I`m completely in love with the series. but I`m not hurting you. :) so be a bit nicer please?

"reacted more to the 1 minute long TWILIGHT TRAILER than the actual movie"
oh and by the way, that trailer came on, && there was a lot of booing. It made me happy. :) haha
the chicks who cheered are idiots though.

HP is way better than effing Twilight!

Harry Potter is a mediocre novel and movie series with charming characters and an interesting but convoluted plot and no real educational or academical value. There, someone had to say it.

Im a big fan, but not a stupid senseless one...

i wont go to the cinema to see it just yet, im gonna wait a few days till its at least a little less packed, i want to enjoy the film, not be the first to see it, and then not be able to pay attention cos of all the kids throwing popcorn and talking through the whole thing.

ive read all the books more than once, i know the story well, but the films still rock :)

i got to see it in an empty cinema the other day. friend of friend knows the manager and let us have our own private screening. was the largest screen in the cinema too.

Although its not like i care much about the film, bit long and got a bit tired of it. but the effects were good and couple bits were freaker

At least it gets kids READING, when the competition for their attention includes video games, TV, Friends and family, sports(for those that actually get off their ass), I`m probably missing a whole slew of stuff.

woa even the comments on the list were too serious.
I find trying to make a connection or intellectual argument using fiction like Harry Potter, because at the end of the day it is just fiction where a kid is abused by his legal guardians than put into mortal danger at school, but he has a whole bunch of money and can do magic, but doesn`t better his living situation or finds any girl at his home to date.

I do like HP. A lot really, until book 7 happened. (Ok I hate book 7 XD).
Good literature is not meant to have educational value, it`s meant to stir your imagination and give you the chance to live lives that are not yours. It has to give us the oportunity to walk the path of heroes and heroines. If this books speak to people and move them to do all those crazy things, good!! At least they are passionate about something, they are not being cynical about life.
That is why this books are so good. They let us be someone else, for a few hours.
That is a WIN. Even when I hate book 7. XD

Also a lot of the people in these comments are a but judgemental. Maybe if you guys picked up the books you would like them. Everyone`s entitled to their own opinion and who are you guys to mock it? Get off the pedastal you put yourself on, geez.

I haven`t read the books but I like the movies (and so do my kids). However, I`m also a Star Wars/Star Trek fan and I can say I think those fans can be WAY more obsessive!

Also, if Quidditch became a real sport someday with technological advances every other sport would seem dull.

I love Harry Potter. I`ve read all the books a billion times over, but I don`t even find myself that obsessive.
When my friend found out that the Harry Potter movie wasn`t going to be released in November, she was seriously depressed for two weeks.

I agree with the author of the article, on the subject of Quidditch; if technology doesn`t enable actual and agile flight, it is utterly and embarassingly pointless.
