I actually would drive 50 miles or so to go to Priority One Computers in Sepulveda, Ca (#1) because they had the best selection of Commorore 64 and Amiga accessories.
I still have my Amiga 1000 from 1985.
Spent $3500 for the system with an Epson JX-80 color printer.
*Sigh* Sweet memories.

It`s amazing to think that we`ve gone from those... Those THINGS... To what we have now.

God I love the advancement of technology. And, on the plus side, we no longer get those creepy Microsoft adds... *Shudder*

The big problem with those older computers was the common phrase used in programming them "Press Any Key to Continue". Damn noobs kept hunting around their keyboards for this elusive "Any" key, never could find it.

I think the Bill Gates pictures are why Microsoft and Windows got so popular, and buying out every company...but anyways, man, I feel like buying a Commodore 64 now...

Old? I OWNED 2 of these. And yes, that`s Bill Gates, holding floppies by the access hole which would have wrecked them and made them unreadable.

As for HD costs, I bought a 10 meg SERIAL HD in 1984 for $3,600 - equivalent to paying about $35,000 for one now. Why would you do that? Because we were DTPing with PageMaker 1.0 which had a Program Disc and a Data Disc, then there was the System Disc for the computer and the Fonts Disc, and the Job storage disc - just booting the program and opening a document took 138 disc swaps and 28 minutes.

Concetra, actually, it would cost ya over $166,333,333 dollars!!
$166,33 per MB...

1TB = 1.000.000MB

166,33 times a million.....

$166.333.333!!

(oh and yes, i like math)

------

actualy a TB is only 1000000MB in SI. in binary terms its 1099511627776 bytes (1099515MB) which costs $182882329.95.

We had a Commodore 64 and an Atari when I was little. We also, at one point, had a computer that ran games from what looked like the old audio cassettes, but I have no idea what kind it was. My older sister used to spend hours playing games where you had to type in your actions, like "go west" or "open door" and you could only use simple phrases that the game recognized. Ahh, the good ol` days.
