"This looks pretty poo to me... am i the only one?"

Nope. And if the voice recognition is anything like that Fandango bitch you can bet I will not be the only one to dispose of my Xbox via Nuclear explosion.

The idea of using this with fighting games is neat for a second. Remember all the trouble with people destroying TV`s and fragile furniture with their awesome new Wii remote? Lets replace the remote with a foot and see how fun that gets. Microsoft will have to put a big ass sticker on the box saying "If you put your foot through your TV its your own dumb fault".

I seriously doubt there would be offline multiplayer fighting but can you imagine how that would play out? Online multiplayer could work tho and would be hilarious. Of course some dumb kid will take it too far and attempt an Guile like Somersault kick and break his neck. Same with skateboarding game.

The video from before with Milo or whatever was somewhat impressive. This is not

And this is simpler than the regular controllers... how?

CAN`T YOU PEOPLE SEE!? They are trying to get us to move and exercise! don`t be blinded by this fancy stuff, you can`t just chill out on the couch anymore with a bag of chips, you hafto be moving around all the time. wtf is up with that!?

I think it will be great, but most people won`t buy it. requires to much space and moving around.

We could just aswell "game" outside seeing as this is what they are leading us up to.

"introducing the new wii basketball! now a real ball! dribbel around in the local courtyard! invite friends over the telefone or just ask them directly! purchase now and get an extra ball incase you wear it out!" no one else see this coming?

@DertMerchant
Technically, the PS2 had the first thing like this when the Eye Toy came out. And ideas for projects like this have been around for decades. Microsoft came in late with the idea, but you don`t need to go around saying(screaming?) that xbox is trying to push nintendo off the market. Thats ignorant and completly uncalled for.

(IAB needs to get a reply system on the comment board)

so this is just an accessory to the Xbox 360? I thoguht it was going to be a whole new system. And I doubt that it will work as well as that shows, nothing ever works as well as the preview ad shows. But still, it could be enormously cool if it works

Everyone who gets overexicted because of those new controlers need a reality check.

REALITY CHECK 101

Does those new motion controlers perform better then the normal controlers that everyone are used to?

Answer is "NO" and you know it.

Don`t be total tards and stop paying attention to this sort of hype.

I think PS3 is in the lead on this motion sensor game. I`m a bit bias, slight Sony fan girl yeah. But the two component we see here between 360 and Wii are Camera and Internal Motion Sensors. PS3 uses both rather then relying on one or the other.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwTvTenC0...

Natal looks to have a few lag issues and Wii is known to be choppy, granted I haven`t seen much on Motion Plus so they may have improved it more then I`m aware of.

I`m more of an RPG person regardless. The motion gimmicks are neat but I want to see some ridiculously crafty applications before I`m seriously impressed.

Perigee: well think in a broader scope than just what the demo shows. Imagine something like the wii nunchuck (a one hand controller with a stick and a few buttons) to compliment the body input and all of a sudden some pretty nifty things could be made. Most certainly nothing close to reality will be made with it, in the main i think we`ll just see casual games.

I`m glad to not be the only skeptical person here. If it`s based on what a person can do with their body then doesn`t that slightly limit what kind of games you can create with this? One of the great things about games is the ability to do things that in the real world ARE NOT POSSIBLE.
The whole purpose of Natal, it seems to me, is to put the real world in your living room so you never need venture outdoors. Well, possibly not in the case of Godzilla, but as soon as I saw that I felt it was ridiculously limited: yay! you can stomp and hit things! but you can`t turn or look around! hurrah!

Camaleao: See what you fail to understand is that Natal is not just a regular camera. The damn thing captures and utilizes 3d data, not just images. You can do things with the Natal (if it works well) that could never be done with the eyetoy and because of that it is indeed new and innovative, not just an improvement on some already existing concept. You may not like it, and that`s fine, but don`t make up silly reasons to rip on it. There`s no denying that this technology is completely new for a gaming system.

As for the fanboy thing, just let your posts do the talking. If you feel a need to defend yourself from being accused, there`s probably something there. "Ok, i`m no fanboy but MS drating sucks!" yeah, real neutral there buddy.

ok, so if i say something bad about MS i am a sony/nintendo fanboy, and if i say that i am not a fanboy that just proves that i am? good to know.

and just saying that i dont like microsoft(which is true, but who really likes MS anyway?) doesnt change the fact that the whole thing has been there before. especially that fighting thing in the beginning-eyetoy kinetic combat.

im not saying that the system itself sucks, this is a promotional teaser, and therefore shouldnt be used to judge natal. MS says it will be awesome, but well, they said the same thing about vista and so on.

what i criticised about it is that they promote it as something completely new and innovative, even though it is just an improvement of something thats already there(if it works out as MS claims)

Sigh...
It was either a Wii or an Xbox when I was gonna buy a fancy new thingy. I bought the Wii for the motion sensor gimmick. Now this thing comes out and it`s like the Wii to the power of 42. Anyway it will probably will be poo.(wow, this is like my longest comment ever)

Camaleao: Like i`ve already said, how about you actually do some goddamn research before saying that it`s eyetoy? The Natal will do something unseen in videogames up to this point, end of story. Besides, even MS themselves say that what`s most revolutionary about the Natal is not the hardware, it`s the software that they made to go with it. So just stop projecting your incorrect bullpoo because you happen to dislike MS. (the line about not being a fanboy...such a fanboy thing to do :P)

ok, great thing, but i dont really see why this is a new thing. this is eyetoy, has been around for quite some time. movement capturing is great in the promotional vids, sure, better than it is in the eyetoy games, but this is promotion, and promotion is usually only loosely based on the real world.
if it works as good as MS claims, nice. i doubt it, given the usual xbox hardware issues.
even if: it is nothing new. i just hate it when they claim "hey, we have created something completely new, innovative, its going to change the world", ignoring the fact that they simply took something thats been around for years, tweaked it a bit and changed the name.

and no, im not a fanboy, i hated sonys world-changing sixaxis controller, and nintendos never seen before, all-new motion controller, which has been created before as an additional controller for sega dreamcast.
i dont see any problem in taking a good idea and improving it, but claiming to be the inventor of somethi

I`d much rather Xbox get their act together and fix the effing systems before even thinking of releasing this. I`ve had my 360 for a month, it freezes on every game, and this is a replacement for my year old console which had a terrible defect. -.-

This is real, but it`s still in the prototype stages. It should be up to par with this video by late 2010 but as of now is reduced to a few demos. If it works out, it will be awesome. If it doesn`t and microsoft makes it suck, I will disown them and buy a PS4 (They`ll be out by then). There`s some videos on Youtube now about it. They show how it works and the kinds of games applications it can have.

Dragosal: so first it`s that with nintendo everything works no matter when yon get it, and now that that`s disproved wii is the best console of the three from an unbiased point of view? Do you even know what unbiased means? The wii moves most units, does that mean it`s the best? Best for who? It has a lousy attach rate, I`d wager few actual gamers like it much and it`s a piece of crap hardware wise. AND you need a peripheral to make the controller work. Wii is great for casual gamers and that audience happens to be the largest, ergo it`s not unbiased to say that Wii is the best console. It`s just stupid.

MrBowserpuff: How is this tech a ripoff of either the wiimote or the eyetoy? The eyetoy is a camera and the wiimote is a remote with a gyro in it. It`s not even remotely the same. It uses cameras yes, but that`s about as far as it goes. Way to go on picking that image as well, cause it`s not like you`ve just sought out the goofiest part available, you also sped it up about 10 times :

@Megido i have no clue what your even trying to say. the battle for the best next gen console in every unbiased list u see is wii, xbox360, ps3. xbox and playstation dont fix the shortcomings of their systems for a really long time if at all. but nintendo fixes the VAST majority of the glitch`s and yes they do release peripherals usually but they arent usually to compensate for poor performance or anything. its to allow the system to do new things they may or may not have considered during the original conception of the system

Male 275
Its a rip-off of both Sony`s eye-toy and basic wii controls. They should have waited to put it as the main controller on their next system. Because of this, it will be expensive, not many people will end up buying it, and it will be hard to develop for. And anyone playing will look more retarded than when playing Wii.

Dragosal: I don`t even udnerstand what you are talking about. All the three hardware manufacturers have approximately the same lifespan for their consoles and no matter if you have a xbox, Playstation or Wii, a console purchased at launch will play all the games for that specific console. Always. Nintendo, however, is the only company that realized that their original controller wasn`t up to snuff and released a peripheral to correct it, so out of the three current gen consoles nintendo is fail according to your own argumentation.

LexiLeet: Seeing as how Ballmer let slip some info on a new xbox in 2010, i would guess that a new 360 model with a built in natal is hitting shelves next year. Possibly slimmed down in size as well, but that`s just me speculating.

Really, they wouldn`t be announcing it now if the release was THAT far off, the hype would die before they had shipped it.

this just looks like to much trouble for a video game and also given the fact that theres a fair chance that even after release it will be glitchy as heck b/c both playstation AND microsoft have a big problem about releaseing trash then fixing it after the fact. nintendo has done the same on occasion in the past but they still have a better track record then the other 2. so if nintendo puts sumthin exactly like this out i will buy that one first. tho they will prolly just load it down with a bunch of kids games :(

Discobiscuit: aside from the avatar spazz and some latency issues the demos shown at E3 seemed to work just fine. The big thing for me is the latency, i really hope they address that issue before it`s released. But then there isn`t even a date set for Natal yet so i guess they have time for improvements. I suspect the avatar spazzing out is due to the avatar not really being meant for use with the natal. I just have a feeling, or a hunch if you will, that for something like that to work well with Natal it`d need at least some special treatment.

Krabkat: like i just said, there`s no release and the stuff shown in this promotional video are just concepts, nothing real. There hasn`t even been any real games announced for it yet, so hold your horses before you decide that you NEED one :)

Oh and yes, like i said earlier, it`s a peripheral for the 360. I think that should answer all of your questions :P

also, it would be used in like, 3 months for super-hardcore porn.

I do not like this. Kids do not need to be "gotten off the couch" by something like this. Taking things like this away would be a better solution.

I foresee many broken household items and even more kids getting distanced from reality. I love technology, but it tears us apart as much as it "brings us together"

The saddest part about this whole thing is that I would rather sit my ass on the couch and play with a controller. I only hope they don`t completely stop making decent controller based games.

The how moo is pretty simple, its like motion capture for films, aka Gollum in LOTR, only players wont be wearing skin tight body suits with sensors on them.

That being said, movie studios can produce 1-to-1 motion capture with those suits and state of the art equipment. A commercial version should have flaws and loose clothing could hamper the detection.

I won`t buy it though, not a huge fan of the 360. I`ve got my Wii and I will play with it until it becomes chaffed and broken.

Project Natal does look neat and all, but the new motion capture poo from ps3 is gonna own the day here.

I mean, haven`t we ALL been waiting since our first video game for this...

Uhmm, If I could even ride a skateboard safely again why not actually ride the skateboard instead of fake it in front of a TV?

Full body motion capture may sound nice, But somehow I don`t think it`d be as fun as the real thing. If you can even do the real thing, Honestly I couldn`t do a back round house kick decently for the life of me.

1. How?
2. Why?
3. What if you dont have a big living room?

and on a side note, that kid had a skateboard, why does he need a skating game?

first of all, the dad looks way too happy, secondly, sometimes a lot of fun comes with having an actual controller, especially in driving games. remember that controller that was entire dashboard? that was sweet.

I can`t see this reviving the 360 from its slow descent. It would need some good upcoming exclusives to entice people.

For instance the PS3 has Fat Princess, The Last Guardian, Massive Action Game, God of War 3 etc. all in the pipeline. The 360 doesn`t have many upcoming exclusives, especially with the size limits of DVD.

Alternately they could just make xbox live free. I`d probably buy one if they did that.

Haha, I`d like to see this work. I guess there`d be a few games like the Ninja thing, but definitely not the racer. how would it know when you`re shifting? And what gear!?

The Dashboard part looks awesome, especially flying through the movies and being able to control your avatar. The Soccer part looks like it could work and be very fun. The Skateboard thing is already set to be on the market or something so I hear...

I don`t understand how you;re supposed to just put a peice of clothing on a picture of you and it fits perfectly...

Yeah, all I can think about when seeing this is the massive amounts of flaws. But it will be pretty cool if it works.

"Chew on that, Wii!"

That sentence made me a little sick with embarassment/hatred/laughter,

"wont this be really annoying, like the Wii became? "

Of course not, microsoft are making it so it`ll be 100% reliable and perfect and the bestest thing ever.

it looks awesome but i have a feeling it might be hard to use. Like what if you are playing at a party and the noise is loud. it would be hard for the system to recognize your voice. Or if there`s a lot of movement in the background it might be the same. I would still like to try it out though!

it`s neat but too bad it`s just an advanced playstation eyetoy/eye.

and you look pretty stupid doing half those things (like holding an invisible steering wheel, weeeeeee).

the sony motion controller kicks this in the ass (the new one)
