What I don`t understand is how the right-wing doesn`t collectively sit back and say "whoa...we`re just....wrong". I think most people with any intelligence have at least once changed their views on a major issue or belief, and yet these neandrathals just keep their heads in the sand, and plow through. So much for evolution, eh?

OK, well, Number 1: Elizabeth Hasselback is a moron. There is definetly no arguments about that.
Number 2: Jesse Ventura has crackpot theories about 9/11 (and the building 7 conspiracies) that would make most people hate him.
Number 3 As far as tortue and waterboarding are concerned: It doesn`t work, it is illegal, and it is immoral.

While Jesse may be a crazy, ex wrestler/9/11 conspiracy theorist, he is 100% correct about tortue...

    Go pens!

My views on "torture" are this, in afghanistan and iraq, they arent our citizens, and they wouldnt follow the rules, they go out and capture torture and behead our troops, they dont have laws and im more than positive that they would waterboard us, to me, they torture us, and then murder us, why cant we torture them, but still keep them alive, but gain information to save people, sorry if i have offended anyone, just posting my opinion

Jesse Ventura is a total douche bag, but then so is everybody else on that panel. The reason you don`t waterboard criminal suspects is that if you do, you can`t use the information in court. When we waterboarded KSM, it wasn`t to build a criminal case against him; it was to extract information about future terrorist attacks that saved 1000s of innocent lives. That`s a FACT. Of course, facts and logic are useless against hate.

    I totally agree OldOllie.

Legally information under duress can`t be used in the court of law. However, it can be used to protect against further loss of life.

People always want to think we can play nice in war. War is an ugly thing, and there are certain necessary `evils` that need to take place to put an end to things.

If anyone is against waterboarding they should ask themselves a question:
Would you rather 50 people be waterboarded or watch hundreds if not thousands of people dying on both sides of the conflict? It`s not about who`s right and wrong it`s about survival.

You`re providing false choices. I might as well as say make up a random, difficult counter scenario:

"Would you rather torture and kill 100,000 babies to save 1 million people?"

There are ways to get people to say things without torture. People like you anger and scare me.

    >>"Would you rather torture and kill 100,000 babies to save 1 million people?"

There are ways to get people to say things without torture. People like you anger and scare me. <<

Simply saying "theres another way" doesnt do poo when lives are on the line. If you can come up with better, actual answers, then you can open your mouth. Dont just say "theres other ways! Someone think of it! Cmon!"

And your analogy is valid as well, even though ludicrous. But still valid. If you were forced to torture 100000 babies to save millions, would you? Or would you let millions die? These are the kinds of choices people have to make. You dont have to make them. You get to sit in your mothers basement with the AC on blast while you type up a 10 page thesis on why Transformers was terrible because Bumblebee wasn`t some Volkswagen beetle.

Its easy for you to sit on high telling others that they are wrong. Its hard to actually come up with the answer.

We don`t want to "hurt" our enemies by waterboarding because it`s wrong, yet, some don`t think twice about what Tiller used to do to full term babies? Does anybody else see something wrong with this?

    AnwarNova

How exactly is that a false choice dumb ass?

Torture 50, save 100 or more.

    - 50 is a realistic number of people tortured before actionable information is gained

-100 + people is a realistic number of targets for anyone attempting the classic one event, great terror over an entire country thing.

You need to think before you actually say something. Or instead just don`t say anything at all.

So how exactly do you propose to extract information in a timely fashion without some form of torture?

Then you have to define what torture is. To a retard like you torture is probably raising your voice or cursing. But to an extremist it might not be torture unless you cut off an extremity. It`s not black and white.

The only thing I can agree with in this whole thing is this; don`t be a cheerleader or hack for either political party. Turn your back on any of them, they`ll stick it in.

Geneva Convention says that enemy combatants not in uniform can be executed without trial. I think we`re treating them a little better than Jesse says we are. I don`t think that a country that provides these bastards Korans, prayer rugs, and three squares a day are shoving bamboo shoots up their pee holes or the other sundry things done at the Hanoi Hilton. Even if they were, I`d have no problem with it. The lives of my loved ones are more important to me than whether or not we`re "torturing" captives.

Torture has never given America any actionable intelligence. That being said Jesse Ventura is a 9/11 truther and as such loses all credibility.

To goingpostal: Your logic is flawed because abortion is legal in America and comparing a fetus to a living breathing human is ludicrous. George Tiller performed a service for women in need. You don`t believe in abortion then don`t have one. Oh yeah you can`t you`re a guy.

Ok first of all we`re not dealin with Judgement Day or North Korea here, we`re dealin with low budget, small grouped "terrorists" who can barely get there hands on mortars let alone cause an "immediate threat" to the US. We could have prevented 9/11 but we thought Al-Queda were small talk until it happened. Now we treat them like Nazi`s who have a Nuclear bomb aimed at New York. And torturing doesn`t help, for all you neo-cons and liberals let me introduce you to the blowback theory. Seriously Google that sh*t, and then there is the morality of faking drowning or slapping someone who we haven`t put through a fair trial to see if we even know what we`re doing. Don`t fuel a fire that isn`t a threat.

Just because he is looking for some information in a very mysterious, and secret attack that had such on an impact on daily life. I don`t believe the gov. did it but there`s something very fishy about that whole situation and the Commission didn`t scratch the surface.
