send55, the best defense is a good offense. At least have respect for your country. I doubt you even have a clue whats going on, besides what your parents tell you.

indeed... if you just blow up the enemy, then they cant really attack, can they?

Defending your country. More like sticking their nose into a situation that is none of their business just to keep the war machines and economy afloat.

For those of you in the dark, those are common PT (that`s Physical Training) shorts that soldiers wear when exercising. Also think about how hot it is where those guys are, you`d wear the them to if it meant u`d be a little cooler. As OMgZelda said, you should be thanking that guy for defending your country and freedom, not poking fun at him for his shorts.

@Lyckosam

You should really study history more before you make assumptions like that try looking up Lend-Lease.A total of $50.1 billion (equivalent to nearly $700 billion at 2007 prices) worth of supplies were shipped. This program started before Pearl Harbor belive it or not FDR saw the writing on the wall. To give you an idea during WW2 about one fourth of British ammo was from the U.S.A. and we supplied all allies. As for repayment anything returned we didnt charge for and lend-lease items retained were sold to Britain at the knockdown price of about 10 cents on the dollar. YOU NEED TO STUDY HISTORY MORE!!!

This looks like a physical training exercise. His shorts are indeed short, though I don`t see how you guys are making fun of this. You should be thanking the guy for defending our country.

So thank you, soldier who was snapped wearing incredibly short shorts.

ok well having been there i think i can spell this out for anyone that cares. it looks like they were in the middle of a little p.t. (physicol training) when they got a call for fire. that means that some one needed mortor support some where and they needed it as fast as possible. when that happens they dont worry about what they are wearing. just throu on your gear and run out.

anyone else think it`s interesting how uninvolved th americans were until pearl harbour? it was a basic retaliation, not a valiant rescue."

Lyckosam, i dont no if u havent heard of a plan that SAVED Europes ass called the marshall plan. So before u say America was selfish, u should do some research."

Yes it was retaliation. But it was also self-defense. If the rest of the world had fallen to Germany and Japan then the US would have had to face them alone. So it fought for those two main reasons.

And it just so happened that Europe and the US were both fighting Germany and Japan`s aggression. The enemy of my enemy is also my friend, the saying goes. American victories were European victories.

Without the US, are you positive the allies would have won out? They needed help. Americans died for America first, but their deaths saved milli

It`s fortunate for you that this forum has mods. Now which country in Europe that U.S. servicemen fought and died for in WWII would you be from?

And as far as the dresscode, given the sacrifice that they make everyday, they can wear swim trunks to battle for all I care.

pussy....come to texas, we`ve had almost straight 100* days for the past week, and heat index well above that. the kicker...we haven`t had rain here in a good 3 weeks (or so its felt), I know its been at least 2 full weeks.

Gn0m3: Since when are the Army and Marine Corps "obscure branches" of the U.S. military? I would consider the United States Merchant Marine the only "obscure" branch, since it is an auxiliary of the U.S. Navy during wartime.

smartbomb314: The camouflage patterns noticeably different, and should be even to a layman. Last year I was in the Detroit Airport on my way back home from Ft. Bragg, and I struck up a conversation with four Marines who were changing planes as well. I was wearing ACUPAT, the Marines were wearing MARPAT. Easily 75% of the people passing by while we were talking who said something referred to the five of us as "Army Guys" or something to that effect. Even though my uniform was significantly different from theirs in appearance. (Much to my delight and their chagrin...)

dragosal: Nothin` but love for you bro, but I`m convinced the average Marine would wipe up the floor with you and never break a sweat.

i agree wtih lstinkorea; dragosal that`s stupid. My boyfriend is in the army and he has a lot of friends in other branches like the marines and they work their asses off to help protect and serve you. show some respect. i`d like to see you go toe to toe with one and see which one of you comes out with `nothing but win`

they look like Army, and they are doing Army stuff, therefore, they are Army. osirisascend, you cant expect people to know the difference between two seemingly obscure branches of the armed forces, i guarantee that most civilians dont know what ACU and MARPAT even stand for. I dont, but I`m Canadian, so i dont really care

OxyMoron1763 is correct with his identification of what branch they are. I`m surprised at the number of civilians who don`t notice the difference between ACU and MARPAT.

Army wears sand colored shirts, Marines uses the olive drab.

And not to mention the helmets these guys have is of the MARPAT design rather than the ACU pattern.
