    Wow. That was really unexpected...

I`m not sad, I have too much morality to be happy, but I`m really shocked at Jackson`s death...

    Farrah is sad though.

But Michael Jackson is dead? Wow.

Wow, searching Google News flat-out, lots of stories about it but most of them are quoting the original TMZ report as their source. Police confirmed the heart attack and hospital independently, and the Post Chronicle, the only newspaper to actually confirm it (3 mins ago), is getting so many hits their website is broken - pretty serious for a newspaper! So my guess is, true.

If true, there`ll be a lot of little boys breathing easy tonight!

He`s probably not dead yet, but who knows. Its always safer to assume that news producers and the likes of TMZ are itching to be the first to report it.

But if he is dead, three celebrities have already died. Ed McMahon died yesterday.

He is in the hospital though from food poisoning. Apparently he ate a 10 year old wiener.

Carradine was a bit ago, and I would have given it to you regardless. But it was a suicide, and while still tragic, it just doesn`t have the surprise factor as a sudden death.

It even is less surprising than Farrah`s death simply because he knew the exact time he would die. Just my thought.

Oh cmon guy, he was a sick twisted perverted paedophile with self-image problems that made him turn himself into a pasted-together zombie, BUT... he was probably the BEST singer/dancer combo of the 20th century. He was VERY talented musically, and dancing??? Sheeeeet could he dance. I hate his orphan-humping guts for what he became, but you can`t say he wasn`t talented.

People...he`s just faking his own death to get away from the public spotlight! The whole "comeback" tour was just part of the scam to make the whole thing appear more tragic. It`s all just a well orchestrated ruse.

Just because you didn`t like his music isn`t a good reason to hate him.

    @R33MIX

Not to be rude but you probably didn`t get to meet him earlier for his actions. You should`ve been given a chance though once you hit the teen years.

I can`t say that I am particularly sad about this whole thing. He wasn`t at a great spot in his life, after all. He was a very miserable being, really, and if anything it was a mercy to have him go. No person should have to deal with what he has, guilty or not. He was a great talent back in the day and that is how he should be remembered.

    God rest his soul.

He was great, I don`t care that he went a little crazy. Listen to him singing in the Jackson Five ("I`ll be there"), and it was just amazing. And the pre-plastic surgery Micheal couldn`t make a bad song if he tried. Even after his plastic surgery, he still made great music.

He was about to perform his last run of concerts ever.

I`m going to listen to some of his excellent music now.

Right there with you. I mean, I can certainly understand why people are upset; I have had many friends who loved his music (I never did, but to each his own). But to compare his death to JFK is a bit much.

Comparing it to Elvis makes more sense. Oh, God, I can just see it now. If we thought the "Elvis is still alive" people were nuts...just wait until the "I just saw Michael Jackson at Starbucks" people begin to appear...if not already.

I can never wish death upon anybody and I feel awful for his family and all of the people who loved him, but I can`t bring myself to feel bad that he died. The guy got away with a lot of sick sh*t, so it`s hard to have any respect for the man as a human being.

Besides, this was completely inevitable. It`s the nature of this beast. Do people really think MJ was gonna die in his sleep as an old man? No, he was gonna go out relatively young and in style. It was in the cards. He even knew it was gonna happen.

peloos, he was never convicted so you can`t really judge him. people took unfair shots at him and took A LOT of advantage of him cause he`s so strange and CLEARLY those accusations were false. but a lot of people let the media brainwash him and there was a lot racism at the heart of it. people need to stop letting the rumors get to them and just say R.I.P the man CHANGED the history of music.

"Kennedy/Grassy knoll moment" I`m assuming means a moment we`ll never forget where we were when it happened. I can actually put lots of things ahead of this:

    1. 9/11
    2. Election Night `08
    3. Columbine Shooting
    4. OJ`s Bronco Chase
    5. Princess Diana
    6. Columbia Space Shuttle
    7. JFK Jr.

I sat here and read a few comments that people have posted, and I`ve noticed no matter what the media has said there are people out there that cared for his work> Some people on here are not fans, I myself never listened to but one of his songs.
To bad he didn`t get to see how much people looked past the media and still cared for his music.

Well, I personally think Nicole Simpson...Brown...Davis (dratshouldiknow) was murdered by the mafia but that`s just imho. Point is everytime you listen to a song, watch a music video Michael Jackson had a part in that. His molestation case was b.s at best, c`mon...framing MJ in all his bizarre ways isn`t a hard thing to do. People took so much advantage of him despite his kind efforts it was gross. Eww at you putting Dale Earheart JR. ahead of MJ`s death. MJ was the MOST famous person on the planet. End of story. No, I`m not a big superfan of his but you GOTTA give the man the respect he deserves.

Maybe for you Prime. You didn`t wanna see Obama win. That was one of the most surreal moments of my entire life. This was my personal list. I was 7 when OJ happened so even though I actually remember it surprisingly well, I probably could have remembered it better than I did if I was older. You were probably only 2 or 3 so I know you don`t remember it. I`m sure people older than me would put things like Challenger and the Berlin Wall on this list. It`s allllll personal.

I actually considered putting the Steelers SBs and Chris Farley dying on this list, but those were entirely too personal.

When I woke up this morning, rumours were flying about his death, which was recently confirmed.

I was never really a hardcore fan of MJ, never had any of his albums or even pirated any of em. But when I turned on the radio (English radios all over the country are playing tributes to him all morning) and the song `Heal The World` came on, I couldn`t hold back the tears.

A big, big loss to the world`s music industry. RIP Michael Jackson.

It is very sad indeed. I just hate the fact that news of Farra Fawcett`s death was shunted aside. I suppose though it was the fact that she had cancer and was doing really bad and Michael Jackson`s death was so sudden and unsuspected. I just feel sorry for both of their families.

I say good riddance. We should all line up and piss on his grave. Ask the families of the children he molested how they feel about his death. I bet you won`t see that on the news. So the world is rid of another child-hungry pedophile. Boo Hoo. Yes, the guy was an amazing entertainer but Adolph Hilter was a wonderful painter too. I guess we should celebrate him for that...oh yeah, and then there was that mass murder thing he was involved with too. Meh.

According to all court records he did not molest anyone. Of course the court doesn`t decide the truth, but it was decided beyond reasonable doubt that no molestation took place. It comes down to the fact that you weren`t there, you don`t know what happened, and you are incredibly disrespectful for that.

Oh, and Adolf was a sh*te painter. There`s a reason he didn`t get into an art school and took a very different path of life.

So, no more King of Popping Butt Cherries.

I`m not surprised, nor the least bit saddened. He stopped contributing anything meaningful to the world years ago, and turned into a monster.

Opie, you are awesome for that reply.

People who want to do nothing more than tear down the king of pop, take yourself else where because he`s gone now...

It`s a time for mourning, not a time for disrespect.

"According to all court records he did not molest anyone. Of course the court doesn`t decide the truth, but it was decided beyond reasonable doubt that no molestation took place. It comes down to the fact that you weren`t there, you don`t know what happened, and you are incredibly disrespectful for that."

Actually, Opie, that`s not how it works. It only takes 1 person out of 12 having any doubt not to get a conviction. 11 of them could have thought he was guilty as sin, and the last simply didn`t want to convict him because they liked his music. The point is, it`s a lot easier to be called innocent than guilty, as you need 12 people to think you`re guilty, but only 1 to think you`re innocent.

All credible evidence pointed to him being guilty. Including the fact that a boy was able to pick MJ`s penis out in a lineup. MJ was a monster and the world is better off now.

"Why do you think he messed with little boys?"

In my opinion, children can finally rest everywhere.

It is quite sad to see the celebs from my generation all pass one by one - MJ, Farrah, Ed and all of the others. Kinda makes you feel older and realize that pretty soon none of them shall be left.

Hm. . . . I am betting Madonna is next.

You know what? I think at times like this, you don`t disrespect people. He may or may not have seriously messed up kids` lives... but honestly, I don`t have trouble admitting that I don`t have enough insight to decide whether he is or is not guilty. I do have enough insight to see that someone who absolutely revolutionized pop music. Say what you will, he was an absolute musical genius. What`s more, it`s not the time to disrespect. Don`t think bad action negates all good action - he was absolutely fantastic at what he did. The music industry will not forget him anytime soon. RIP.

Yes, I tried to make that point as well.

And Yaez, you obviously know the law system better than I do. I didn`t follow the case very closely, and am not about to go researching it now. However a court can not tell us what actually happened, just what probably happened. Because of that, I think Vegas`s comment was rude. Yours is extremely informed, however.

Mitchster:Still, it strikes me as odd that some people will mourn this more than they mourned more horrific events like, say, 9/11.

You have to take note of the differences.

Michael Jackson`s music was spread throughout the globe. For me personally, I grew up with his music, and a lot of his music influenced me, and some (like `Heal the World`) was part of my awareness growth process. And I`m certain millions of people around the world share this influence together.

9/11, and other mass death tragedies on the other hand, while is definitely a big loss and crushes our soul, did not influence me at all. I don`t know anyone who died, and none of them brought to me wonderful memories of happiness, joy, and in MJ`s case, beautiful music.

Also, am I the only person on earth who thinks his music doesn`t deserve the attention it got? It`s okay, but I would in no sense call him a revolutionary. Or a musical genius. Or a good musician at all for that matter. Performer, maybe. Musician, no.

Former Jackson bodyguard Matt Fiddes commented:
"He was a very caring guy who would go out of his way to help the sick. One night in London he wanted to see some homeless people. He sent them loads of pizzas in secret. The guy had a good heart".

I`ve gotta say that while he did creep me out on many levels (acquitted or not..) the man was undeniably the king of pop and made a gigantic and everlasting impression on music, and was one talented mofo. So it sucks that the world lost that kind of talent.

On the other hand, his life seemed pretty tragic so maybe it`s good that he can finally have some peace.

(And maybe Paul McCartney can get some of his drating songs back now).

Boadicea put it the best, I think.

I think it`s sad when anyone dies.. Because even if they grew up to be.. odd (which I guess is stil in `question` for MJ) they were normal at one point.. I probably could`ve worded that better..

He was a bit wierd, but his music is quite brilliant, so he`ll be missed, and hopefully remembered for his music, not for, er, children. But that`s partly down to the media I guess.

I think over time he`ll overtake Kurt Cobain as the richest dead celebrity.

Personally, I don`t believe the hype about him being a child-molester. That`s all on the Paparazzi in my opinion. The Paparazzi tore Britney Spears apart, they`re doing it to Miley Cyrus, and they did it to Michael Jackson. Thing is - he was an idol, and in being so, had to be perfect. When he made a mistake, the paparazzi went ape-poo, and exploded those mistakes to the public eye as something unforgiveable. Even though he was human, just like the rest of us were. He made mistakes. He was supposed to make mistakes. But it`s rather unfair to say one way or another what type of person he was, and what he did in his spare time because the only one who knew that was himself, and his family, in other cases.

I believe, and will hold to it - he had a shady life. He never really got to be a kid having been involved in the Jackson Five and then his life exploding into demanding publicity. So, taht said, can you blame him for wanting to create a safe haven for kids all over? He probably

(continued.) wanted kids to treasure their childhood years, because he couldn`t. Does that make him a bad person? I don`t think so. And I don`t think he molested little boys, either, I think those boys` parents told their kids what to say, because they wanted the power of ruining a celebrity`s life for their own twisted desires. Wacky theory? Probably. But I`m fine with that.

The fact of the matter is, he`s gone now, and I think, more than ever, should be remembered for the message he was trying to get across(do any of you know, the dancers for "Beat It" were actually gang members of the world-known Crimson Bloods? They were gangsters, that Michael Jackson taught how to dance). But I think he should be remembered now for his peaceful message that he was trying to get across to the world, instead of what he was rumored to do.

Yeesh! We don`t need to be insulting lionhart`s intelligence now. All he was saying is that there`s a lot of stuff on this website, and most people don`t want to take the time to read your essay along with the 150 other comments on this post, we have other things to look at. I did like your point mistyocean, and I agree, but I got the idea after reading two sentences. It`s a good habit, and shows "capacity", to get across your point briefly, in most situations. Nobody likes a rambler.

This is like when the saying "If a tree falls and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?". That would then lead to "If someone says a tree doesn`t make a sound when it falls and no one is there to hear it, should you believe them?". I think not. Just because paparazzi say that Micheal molested young boys, it doesn`t mean it`s true. Some people would say that Micheal deserved to die, but really, did he? He was a legend at a time, and then he changed his appearance because he felt like it. So what? Even now, with all the Micheal Jackson jokes and rumors, his music is still appreciated and will be fo a good few generations. Personally, if an adult can`t accept this, than they are either dull-witted or just plain horrid.
