Four cops should come and taser him while he`s up there. He`s breaking the law, and obviously the majority of IAB users are in favor of harsh measures for law breakers such as this. Push him down and taser him several times!!

Why is it that potheads always feel the need to let anyone who will listen know that they smoke pot?

Do crackheads put pictures of crack rocks on everything they own? I really don`t think so.

I mean cmon, I don`t care if you do it, but that`s exactly the reason why you don`t need to tell me.

Link Hiel, I`m pretty sure that most people who boast about smoking weed only do it because they think it`s cool, not to prove some point about pot`s illegality. Just my opinion.

I`ve also personally thought 420 comes from parent`s coming home at 5:00, so smoking at 4:20 gives you plenty of time before the parental units get home. I know it`s not true though.

Unfortunately, this young man is incorrect. Marijuana when smoked (make sure you read smoked before you flame me) contains 70 times more carcinogens than cigarette tobacco. This does not account for any further additional cancer-causing agents from pesticides or herbicides. Hence the use of sublingual, liquid, or pill forms of medical marijuana or other cannaboids.

cuchulainn, you know not of what you speak.

Moderate smoking of marijuana appears to pose minimal danger to the lungs. Like tobacco smoke, marijuana smoke contains a number of irritants and carcinogens. But marijuana users typically smoke much less often than tobacco smokers, and over time, inhale much less smoke. As a result, the risk of serious lung damage should be lower in marijuana smokers. There have been no reports of lung cancer related solely to marijuana, and in a large study presented to the American Thoracic Society in 2006

    @madest.

I have been in drug awareness and education for over a decade and am well informed. No form smoke is minimally dangerous to the lungs, since their function is not to filter oxygen from inhaled particulates. And the frequency of marijuana smokers intake, or the volume of smoke that is inhaled does not change the volume of carcinogens in the smoke. "Chemical Research in Toxicology" of Dec 2007 found ammonia levels to be 20 times higher than cigarettes, and hydrogen cyanide levels three to five times higher in cannabis smoke, when compared to cigarette smoke. These are only the tip of the iceberg.

A study by researchers from the University of California at Los Angeles, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, and Arizona Cancer Center has linked smoking marijuana with an increased risk of head and neck cancers. rest of the report

It seems like you could break anything down or point out certain aspects of something to make it seem harmful. I mean table salt is hydrogen and chlorine (in different forms I know). Tylenol is an acid. Cola will melt your teeth. Who knows what cell phones are doing and I don`t trust imitation sugar. Everything is bad.

Hey Cuch, you know what else they found out? The more you paint your house, the more likely you are to get cancer. The more you wash your windows/floors/polish your furniture, the more likely you are to get cancer. Now where are the laws to make window and floor wash illegal? They`ve been the cause of more deaths than pot! In fact, 7 million people each year are poisoned because of simple household cleaning products!

When comparing this to the mere.. oh wait, that`s right, ZERO deaths caused by marijuana, you can see why I take studies, such as the one you posted, with no more than a grain of salt.

Whatever the health effects of smoking weed it doesn`t justify the killing of traffickers or growers not to mention the enforcement or jailing of mere users. In fact these actions are a drain on our resources and communities. Nothing good has come from our war on drugs. It`s been a complete waste of tax dollars and the result? Violence, destruction and death.

    @ madest

That is the point on which we agree. I fully support the use of medical marijuana, and I can`t really object to orally ingested marijuana, especially since the whole "gateway drug" scam has been repeatedly proven to be little more than propaganda. I`m not necessarily anti-cannabis, more anti-cancer and pro-education. As for the so-called "war on drugs", which side are we on...

Marijuana produces immediate, temporary changes in thoughts, perceptions, and information processing. The cognitive process most clearly affected by marijuana is short-term memory. In laboratory studies, subjects under the influence of marijuana have no trouble remembering things they learned previously. However, they display diminished capacity to learn and recall new information. This diminishment only lasts for the duration of the intoxication. There is no convincing evidence that heavy long-term marijuana use permanently impairs memory or other cognitive functions.

I for one believe in freedom of choice, and if someone wants to have a little toke to ease their mind I don`t see any reason why the rest of you should complain. It is, afterall, a personal choice. Some of you think that all the Un-Taxed drugs are bad because you have been brainwashed to believe so. Some of you simply choose not to smoke pot based on your own knowledge, opinions and/or experiences regarding its use. What pisses me off are all the people that wave the "I`m Drug Free" banner and then go home and drink alcohol without a shred of contempt for themselves. Pot > Alcohol. This is all coming from an intelligent, well educated ex pot smoker. I can`t drink or smoke herb anymore due to minor health issues, but I still say that pot is Nearly harmless when compared to alcohol. This argument is moot, so I just wasted a lot of time writing all that..

p.s. Hey mods, is Anjali5 spamming the forums, or am I just being overprotective of the boards?

This kid being a martyr doesn`t prove his point. It was his attempt at being "bold". If you actually read his article, you find out what a dumbass he is. In the last sentence, he is talking about what college he wants to go to, as if any college will accept him now.

He also presents two completely different reasons that he stood behind (in the article.) In one part, he said he did it because he believes that it should be legalized. In the later part, he said that he just wants to get a dialouge up. I bet he doesn`t even remember his real motivation. Probably all the pot...

This boy shows that if it were legal more people would smoke it where I can smell the nasty stuff which negatively affects my life. It`s bad enough having to smell it from time to time in the halls at school due to morons not knowing that school`s for learning not for smoking weed.. I`m sure his speech was good but it`s completely ruined by him smoking, especially considering if it were legal it wouldn`t be legal for someone his age to smoke it. I doubt it`ll have a positive effect for people who are anti legalizing marijuana or for those of us who are borderline. The only ones supporting him agreed with him in the first place :X

"Nothing good has come from our war on drugs. It`s been a complete waste of tax dollars.."

Actually municipalities and county courts, As well as lawyers, Make a lot of money off the prosecution of drug offenses. It`s become a relied upon revenue stream. People say, "legalize it and tax it", What they don`t realize is that is already being "taxed" through the fines and bail revenue. It`s not going to be unlisted off the "scheduled" drug list, Even if a few states allow it`s use medically.

The DARE programs do work and are helping communities all over the nation.

The benefits to lawyers and the lot making money doesn`t outweigh the economic stain it weighs on tax money from useless waste of man hours and tax payers money being spent on imprisoning people over possession.

No! the war on drugs is so unsuccessful and a waste of taxpayer money, addicts are the least of are problems. I say legalize Weed, Cocaine, and Ecstasy. The least harmful drugs under proper Gov. supervision will keep kids away from some of them.

The biggest problems with weed is the addiction factor and the health issues, which everyone seems to overlook. For those denying either one, do a little research, like I have. Granted its not as unhealthy or addictive as some of the designer drugs, (which certain morons here seem to think should be legalized also) but, if you`re addicted, you can`t sleep, can`t eat, and you get dumber. Also your brain can be addicted to anything if you do that particular thing enough times. That being said, I also think its no worse than cigarettes. I think the government should legalize it, control it so people don`t lace it with poo, and tax the hell out of it. As for the DA`s and cities that want money out of it, they should make it a far worse crime to grow it and sell it illegally.(they could make the ATF in charge of it, and be called the ATMF`ers!)

"The DARE programs do work and are helping communities all over the nation."

I call BS. Republicans think abstinence works too. The fact is DARE recruits children to rat on their pot smoking parents and relatives. If you want your child to grow up to be a communist snitch enroll them in DARE.

    "It`s not "Harmless"
the use of marijuana during adolescence was associated with a 30% increase in risk of developing schizophrenia. The study also showed a higher risk of schizophrenia with more frequent marijuana use. "

How many times does this have to be said? Marijuana does not cause schizophrenia. Schizophrenics gravitate towards drug use for various reasons, therefore the percentage of schizophrenics who use drugs is higher than the percentage of non-schizophrenics. Schizophrenics are two to three times as likely as healthy individuals to smoke cigarettes. By your logic tobacco should cause schizophrenia. It doesn`t.

Iam going in to law enforcement and Yes I do believe it should be legalized. But to those of you who say that weed is smoked on people private time and not in public like alcohol so that makes it better, need to wake up. The only reason they smoke it in private is because it is illegal. Once it becomes legal it will be out in public. Im not saying that a all terrible thing but it does NOT make a good argument.
