Gay Exorcism [Video]

Submitted by: fancylad 8 years ago in Weird

This is no parody--a Connecticut Church conducted and filmed an exorcism to de-gay a 16-year-old boy. What the F!

"So Overmann you`re saying it`s in their animalistic genes? Aren`t we talking about humans who have the brain power to choose? Sure we`re all animals, but humans are different."

And you missed my point completely. You cannot justify suggesting homosexuality is strictly a choice when other animals not capable of choosing are also homosexual, and you cannot further suggest the cognitive qualities that identify us as human somehow have the power to preclude any inherited traits from our genes. If you want to argue humans are gay because they choose to be so, you`d have to somehow extend that same argument to other animals and, frankly, I don`t think you can.

They shouldn`t reject you though, but they probably do anyway...

@GoMay
by fear I meant the fear of rejection. It`s not necessarily about the public...it`s their own family and friends. If the people who are your biggest support system reject you for who you are, then that would be traumatic. I just meant to say that even if you don`t agree, then don`t thrust your opinions onto them. I know a lot of people don`t do that, but if you are working in the Government or something, then your opinion can affect the life of such people. I mean they don`t hang gay people or anything but then Gay marriage hasn`t been accepted everywhere.
Apologies for not using the word "homophobe " in the right way

With lack of a better word (can`t think of one atm), I use beliefs... and

you weren`t dedicated to your beliefs in the first place*

Forgot to add in some words after dedicated

People have to learn that not everyone that`s against gays are homophobes. We`re not scared. We just don`t agree.

@FlamedNight

I`m glad to see that someone else thinks that not all Christians are the same.

@Adie22

So we`re automatically homophobes because we don`t agree with them? And gays don`t have alot to fear. It`s not like the government is killing them. The only thing they have to fear are crazy anti-gay people who goes out killing them.

"They`re afraid of being looked down upon by society"
Your beliefs shouldn`t be changed because of what the public thinks. It`s like peer pressure actually. If your beliefs changed to fit in with society, that`s not freedom and you weren`t dedicated in the first place.

Don`t mistake what I just said with religions converting someone now. They do that in a different way.

No one chooses to be gay. I`ve read about it. It all depends on how much testosterone is supplied to a baby in the womb. So your sexual orientation is pretty much decided by the time you are born. For God`s sake no one chooses to be gay or straight or bisexual. Why would a person f*ckin choose to be gay when he/she knows society would hate him/her for it? It`s not a choice...and you can`t just turn gay or straight just because you choose to do so. You are born that way. Human beings have a higher level of thinking and all but that doesn`t mean they can just f*ckin change the way their brain is wired.For all the ignorant losers out there who think they are smart asses, The power to choose doesn`t help change the way you were born. And gay/transsexual/bi people deserve more respect. They aren`t conspiring against the society or anything, and they`re normal people who want to lead a fulfilling life and live without any fear in the society. So get a life all you homophobes!

-sigh-

no, youre right. youre not born sexually desiring ANYONE. A straight person doesnt come out and want the opposite sex straight away.

Personally, I developed pretty early in that sense, I was noticing both genders before anyone told me its "wrong". Not a choice, just how I naturally developed. Then all of a sudden I find out I`m only meant to be interested in boys? I was very confused.

I`ve had extremely fulfilling, emotionally mature relationships with males and females.And, shock horror, I`m still bisexual, after all these years.

To any straight person who wishes to argue this- when exactly did you CHOOSE to like the opposite sex? Do you think you could simply CHOOSE to be gay now?

But...

Christians are the biggest hypocrites, I swear. They say don`t judge. Aren`t they the ones always protesting at abortion clinics telling the young women that they`re whores and going straight to the firey pits of Hell and at gay pride events telling them they`re ungodly because they prefer to have a relationship with someone of the same gender? These are mostly the insane, bible beating fundamentalist Christians.

And Brim..I may be wrong..but I dont think you can DO "voodoo"..i think its "hoodoo".. I think i heard Voodoo is the religion..could be wrong..either way though..these people are praying for a person "in need"(obviously by their opnion)...which isnt hoodoo, this doesnt look like a preplanned ritual. This isn`t even the ritual of exorcism..thats just the word they are calling it because theres really no definition for casting "demons" out. i am sure Christianity did take something from voodoo, they have from almost all religions..it just doesn`t relate here..i guess in opinion.

The last time I checked, the bible didn`t do voodoo. And from what I researched on this `demon` casting stuff, it;being African shamanism; merged with Christianity in rural Trinidad. And from there spread to the to US, some parts of Canada and parts South America. This stuff can be deadly and/or harmless, it all depends on the conartists that "employ" these `techniques`

Opie: "I would not give "props" to someone, anyone, for choosing nonacceptance over acceptance of themself."

I guess that`s where we see things differently. In my mind it is acceptance for him to embrace his religion above anything else. If he commits one aspect of his life over another because it`s more important to him, then I respect that sort of commitment.

A lot of people would falter under that sort of pressure. Or never mention it to anyone and be a closet case which is what I feel defines "non-acceptance". He knows what he is, he accepts the "problem", and he tried to/did get rid of it the only way he knew how. That`s more than what others do by being secretly gay or never admitting it`s what they are to themselves, which is why I say I respect the guy for taking such a big leap.

Yeah, I wouldn`t expect him to do anything other than what he did. There is the viewpoint that sexuality only exists between men and women, and he obviously does believe he can change this aspect of him or he wouldn`t be going through this.

There are certainly many of other people who have done the opposite. Why is it right for them to be gay and not religious but wrong for this guy to be religious and not gay?"

I`m not judging any aspect of what he`s doing or saying that one part of himself is more important than the other. While I would argue that beliefs are not as a part of the self as sexuality is, that`s my view, not his. I am saying that, outside of the context of him and his situation, I would not give "props" to someone, anyone, for choosing nonacceptance over acceptance of themself.

Davyboy,I agree with you with the most part.As much as its played out, it isnt easy being a religious person in todays world.And you`re right..whens the last time we heard on the news "Church buys and donates ambulance to aid Haiti" (actual example of my old church).I truly believe if it weren`t for tax deductions and etc, that the church would fall sometime in my generation.I`m not a Christian but its plain to see that people on the outside have a ignorant view of what happens on the inside. Its like the common American having a viewpoint on whats truly happening in Palestine.. its two different worlds..

Plain and simple, this young man asked for this. Judging by his reaction to prayer, which obviously if someone did not believe, they would have just stood there..Thinking "ok..this should end any minute..now". He probably went up at alter call and told the minister his problem..so to stay away from hypocrisy..its his choice..its none of our business to judge

@_kiersten_, But brainwashing only takes you so far (in this case). If he wants to be with his community, he`ll believe it, he`ll change so that he can continue to be a part of that. But if he likes what he is/if he didn`t like his community, you can bet he`d be moving to San Fransisco in a heart beat. You hear stories about people dropping their religions to be who they are all the time.

What would be worse is if his "community"/family/whatever didn`t want him because he did claim to be homosexual, yet he still had his convictions. He wouldn`t be able to go to one side or the other and would inevitably destroy himself. Let`s just be glad that isn`t the case here, and that he does have an "out" with people who will in fact do something in order to continue letting him fit in.

Just a thought.

Davisboy, many of us were raised very Christian and in a Christian home, and yet we became atheists/deists/agnostics/freethinkers. It`s not like we don`t know what it`s like to be Christian. I`ve read the Bible several times & never really had a bad church experience.

People SHOULD be concerned with getting pleasure out of their short lives. It`s the only life you get! I`m going to use mine to help people as best I can because I don`t believe in ANY afterlife. Not one of bliss, torture, or anything. I understand that our time on this planet is finite and I am going to do the best I can to improve the lives of my fellow man.

I hate how only the bad stories involving misguided Christians make the news. You never hear the feel good stories about the loyal Christians who make a difference after being saved. Everyone is so quick to bash Christians because they only see them as being so judgmental.

The general public is caring less and less about what happens after they die and more about getting the most pleasure out of their short lives. You are a fool if you don`t take the time to at least pick up a Bible and consider if there is a God, and what his role is in your life.

*facepalm*

While you`re at it, someone should try and banish your Discrimination Demon too, and see how that feels like.

"I have yet to encounter any organized religion that doesn`t practice indoctrination and push irrational dogma onto its members. These things are quite Pavlovian and control people through fear and reward."

Couldn`t have said it better myself.

The bible teaches people to be understanding towards others and not to be judgmental, so I have always found it pathetic when people act like this towards others

Isn`t that the basis for a joke:

"Satan walks into a gay bar and sits down next to a guy and says `Hey want a little demon in ya?`"

Don`t fool yourself SuperJesus, I have yet to encounter any organized religion that doesn`t practice indoctrination and push irrational dogma onto its members. These things are quite Pavlovian and control people through fear and reward. I have witnessed other "exorcisms" and all of them were a testament to group histrionics.
