And you missed my point completely. You cannot justify suggesting homosexuality is strictly a choice when other animals not capable of choosing are also homosexual, and you cannot further suggest the cognitive qualities that identify us as human somehow have the power to preclude any inherited traits from our genes. If you want to argue humans are gay because they choose to be so, you`d have to somehow extend that same argument to other animals and, frankly, I don`t think you can.
They shouldn`t reject you though, but they probably do anyway...
No harm done with the homophobe thing. Nothing to apologize for ^^
youll have to ask your inner demon
Do I get superpowers ?
you weren`t dedicated to your beliefs in the first place*
Forgot to add in some words after dedicated
People have to learn that not everyone that`s against gays are homophobes. We`re not scared. We just don`t agree.
I`m glad to see that someone else thinks that not all Christians are the same.
So we`re automatically homophobes because we don`t agree with them? And gays don`t have alot to fear. It`s not like the government is killing them. The only thing they have to fear are crazy anti-gay people who goes out killing them.
"They`re afraid of being looked down upon by society"Your beliefs shouldn`t be changed because of what the public thinks. It`s like peer pressure actually. If your beliefs changed to fit in with society, that`s not freedom and you weren`t dedicated in the first place.
Don`t mistake what I just said with religions converting someone now. They do that in a different way.
no, youre right. youre not born sexually desiring ANYONE. A straight person doesnt come out and want the opposite sex straight away.
Personally, I developed pretty early in that sense, I was noticing both genders before anyone told me its "wrong". Not a choice, just how I naturally developed. Then all of a sudden I find out I`m only meant to be interested in boys? I was very confused.
I`ve had extremely fulfilling, emotionally mature relationships with males and females. And, shock horror, I`m still bisexual, after all these years.
To any straight person who wishes to argue this- when exactly did you CHOOSE to like the opposite sex? Do you think you could simply CHOOSE to be gay now?
Technically science has found no such thing. Just saying."Like Opieface said, It`s not genetics. You aren`t born like that. It`s what you CHOOSE YOU WANT.
Are these people who condemned his personality that one sided and close minded?
I`m from CT and it`s safe to say that a majority of Christians here are not like this. I`m proud to remind everyone that CT has legalized and upheld gay marriage through public vote and that it is one of the more forward thinking and accepting states in the union.
100th post \O/
Technically science has found no such thing. Just saying.
"...much of what the church has done has ruined things like the progress of science for everyone else."
Ever been to a school in Kansas? :)
"Christians are the biggest hypocrites, I swear."
Careful, they aren`t just one big group. Christians span from the most liberal, democratic, vegetarian hippies to the most conservative, republican, meat-eating war mongers. There`s a lot of variety.
Oh, also, it both. They are born with the messed up sexuality that gives them a hint of attraction to the same sex and its a decision for them to proceed to seek out a mate of the same sex knowing..."logicly" that its not how its suppose to be. Though in the end it always seems like ones the man and girl. :P
No. He wasn`t. He wasn`t born wanting guys. He grew up and decided for himself that he is attracted to guys. You aren`t born straight or gay.
Christians are the biggest hypocrites, I swear. They say don`t judge. Aren`t they the ones always protesting at abortion clinics telling the young women that they`re whores and going straight to the firey pits of Hell and at gay pride events telling them they`re ungodly because they prefer to have a relationship with someone of the same gender? These are mostly the insane, bible beating fundamentalist Christians.
I guess it like when your dad catches you drinking and makes you drink until you puke.
And Brim..I may be wrong..but I dont think you can DO "voodoo"..i think its "hoodoo".. I think i heard Voodoo is the religion..could be wrong..either way though..these people are praying for a person "in need"(obviously by their opnion)...which isnt hoodoo, this doesnt look like a preplanned ritual. This isn`t even the ritual of exorcism..thats just the word they are calling it because theres really no definition for casting "demons" out. i am sure Christianity did take something from voodoo, they have from almost all religions..it just doesn`t relate here..i guess in opinion.
oh yeah, she`s brilliant. totally qualified for a fake exorcism.
He`s gay, so the f*uck what, get over it!
That`s what I would tell the demons, anyway.
I guess that`s where we see things differently. In my mind it is acceptance for him to embrace his religion above anything else. If he commits one aspect of his life over another because it`s more important to him, then I respect that sort of commitment.
A lot of people would falter under that sort of pressure. Or never mention it to anyone and be a closet case which is what I feel defines "non-acceptance". He knows what he is, he accepts the "problem", and he tried to/did get rid of it the only way he knew how. That`s more than what others do by being secretly gay or never admitting it`s what they are to themselves, which is why I say I respect the guy for taking such a big leap.
Who really cares where we came from or what happened.
What matters is now. Not before, and not soon.
Yeah, I wouldn`t expect him to do anything other than what he did. There is the viewpoint that sexuality only exists between men and women, and he obviously does believe he can change this aspect of him or he wouldn`t be going through this.
There are certainly many of other people who have done the opposite. Why is it right for them to be gay and not religious but wrong for this guy to be religious and not gay?"
I`m not judging any aspect of what he`s doing or saying that one part of himself is more important than the other. While I would argue that beliefs are not as a part of the self as sexuality is, that`s my view, not his. I am saying that, outside of the context of him and his situation, I would not give "props" to someone, anyone, for choosing nonacceptance over acceptance of themself.
Plain and simple, this young man asked for this. Judging by his reaction to prayer, which obviously if someone did not believe, they would have just stood there..Thinking "ok..this should end any minute..now". He probably went up at alter call and told the minister his problem..so to stay away from hypocrisy..its his choice..its none of our business to judge
That`s probably whats goin on there...
That is my only comment. If I start talking about the content in this video, I will utterly lose it.
Why do these churches get special privileges, again? Wtf?!
So it`s your sexuality that defines you then above anything else? Yes, the homosexuality may be a part of him, but that may not be the BIGGEST part of his life. If he enjoys his religion more, who`s to say that "isn`t who he is"? If the guy wants to be a bible thumper before a homosexual, that`s his choice.
There are certainly many of other people who have done the opposite. Why is it right for them to be gay and not religious but wrong for this guy to be religious and not gay?
"God has no religion." ~Mahatma Gandhi
That`s right. What ignorant, ludicrous fools! Let`s judge those who are judging, that makes us better! It`s ok to judge them, because we`re the ones who are right.
He probably doesn`t believe that its something for him to accept, if he agreed to this. In which case, it wouldn`t have anything to deal with respecting himself. I don`t see how he could respect who he is, and want this `exorcism`.
It`s not like the only possibilities are no god or your Christian god. Poop said a lot of what I was going to...
"Apparently he didn`t like who he was, so he decided to change in the only way he knew how. Not the way I would have done it... but props to him, I guess."
Props for not accepting himself? Not that in his situation I could say I`d do any different (considering community pressure, childhood, etc), however I don`t think a lack of respect for yourself and who you are is something to give props to.
What would be worse is if his "community"/family/whatever didn`t want him because he did claim to be homosexual, yet he still had his convictions. He wouldn`t be able to go to one side or the other and would inevitably destroy himself. Let`s just be glad that isn`t the case here, and that he does have an "out" with people who will in fact do something in order to continue letting him fit in.
Just a thought.
People SHOULD be concerned with getting pleasure out of their short lives. It`s the only life you get! I`m going to use mine to help people as best I can because I don`t believe in ANY afterlife. Not one of bliss, torture, or anything. I understand that our time on this planet is finite and I am going to do the best I can to improve the lives of my fellow man.
The general public is caring less and less about what happens after they die and more about getting the most pleasure out of their short lives. You are a fool if you don`t take the time to at least pick up a Bible and consider if there is a God, and what his role is in your life.
An unfortunate and sad story such as this is no excuse for utter ignorance. In actuality, you have learned nothing from this story if you truly believe such comments.
LEAVE DEMON!! SMACK CLANG "gut kick" GET OUT!!!
RandyTheFool`s the only one who`s got it down.
They`re just as bad,no, even worse than the "blasphemers" they bash.
While you`re at it, someone should try and banish your Discrimination Demon too, and see how that feels like.
Couldn`t have said it better myself.
I`m gonna go with.. No.
"Satan walks into a gay bar and sits down next to a guy and says `Hey want a little demon in ya?`"
Don`t fool yourself SuperJesus, I have yet to encounter any organized religion that doesn`t practice indoctrination and push irrational dogma onto its members. These things are quite Pavlovian and control people through fear and reward. I have witnessed other "exorcisms" and all of them were a testament to group histrionics.
