I actually just made a similar, less threatening, Barrel Man in Milwaukee. The company threw it up out front of their office building and said they loved it. I tried submitting it to here but oh well.Stands about 11` - 12`

i agree with angry freddyferret...if no one cares...why make it a big deal? the kid is happy he did it....the construction company is very happy for the positive publicity...the only people here trying to save face are the idiot cops who need someone to blame...

More proof that cops are MORONIC DOUCHEBAG F*CKHEADED LAMEASS DIP$HIT IDIOT BASTARDS!!!!

The company who owns the property doesn`t want to press charges. That should be the end of it. "We have a job to do." Yeah, to be dickheads. Let it go if everyone involved doesn`t care. I don`t see how they can legally press charges if the property owner refuses. Times like this, this country sucks.

Arrested? While it`s sorta true being as it`s against the law to mess with road stuff like this, still, i thought it was great. Noone ever has a sense of humor anymore.

graffiti is a real issue in the area, the police want to prosecute him to set an example. its stupid really because those "making an example" out of cases dont ever stop graffiti artists, it makes us just hit harder...you would think that they would learn by now...anyways, this is old news

It kinda depends on if the city has to pay for the replacement barrels. If so, the police do have a case. Otherwise, they better drop the charges given the opinion of the construction company.

that is oen think I think is BS. if the so called "offened" party, in this case the cosntruction company(via theft and reconstruction of property), does nto want to press charges, the cops can press charges in thier stead. Thus making it wear he still gets chargd even though no one wanted him to

"Cool art, but it IS illegal if he stole them."

Sure, it was illegal that he stole them ... but the construction company doesn`t want to press charges and they even want him to replicate the statue. I really don`t understand why the police want to prosecute him anyway.

No. Improve property.

Now that would get me to slow down...much more interesting than those ugly barrels and cones. Since these belonged to the construction company and they want him to build a new one, I think the charges should be dropped.

Also, don`t the police have better things to do with their time (like harass skateboarders and beat up little old ladies?). I`m just asking...

I bet people actually slowed down in that construction zone to gawk, at least the barrels finally did their job :)

I thought it was up to the owners of the property whether or not vandalism charges would be dropped. Someone in the P.D. is either trying to flex some muscle, or trying to make an example out of the poor guy.

They should`ve kept it, it`s quite cool. The company doesn`t want to press charges, that should be the end of it.

all because someone did something other then tag the barrels or set them aflame really is the reason they went to such lengths to find him

They should be charged IF the barrel owners want him to be charged.

If they say that it was okay the kid took the barrels, then how can it be theft?

Thief... a talented one... but thievery none the less. I`m just surprised that the police invested time in solving this devious caper.

whether or not he broke the law (which he did) doesn`t matter he`ll get some sort of community service where he just has to rebuild it, so its not really an issue

no he shouldn`t be charged and the company who owned the barrles should sue the police for dimantling them

after all isn`t graffiti a crime? and isn`t that what Banksy does? without any kind of punishment? even though it is now widley known who he is?

and when an original banksy was ACCIDENTALLY painted over by a council in Glastonbury in England the person who owned it reported it too the police

Banksy F*** up

"Justice shouldn`t be blind to tatented people like that because they get all their creative juice from the thrill of doing something they`re not supposed to."

Thank you! Glad to see there still are sane people online.

I thought it was really cool, but yeah, he broke the law...why should he get a pass?

that guy is awesome, and an absolute artist. they really should drop charges and let him do what he wants, be what he is! ths is like copyrighting awesome AMV`s... if you steal something but make somethong awesome out of it, something new and original, it`s not stealing.

If what they do is ugly "then" send them to jail for vandalism.

They should both punish him for vandalism and praise him for his fine craftmanship and to have made our lives a little less miserable.

Justice shouldn`t be blind to tatented people like that because they get all their creative juice from the thrill of doing something they`re not supposed to.

The fact that they punish them so harshly just incite dumb kids to revolt and mimic those street artists.

It was creative, but still a crime nonetheless. You can`t start letting people off the hook just because their crimes were kind of cool.

"I have no problem with it being on display as is. It`s the fact that he stole his stuff."

But didn`t the construction not want to charge him because they liked it?

The police department does have a job to do. They should use a little discretion though. He should not have to go to court it`s a waste of tax payer money. He should not have been arrested but fined the cost of the barrels. The Crew liked his work so maybe they can pay for the cones. He should not have anything put on his permanent record.

My 2cents: If he owned the cones, and put it "on display", I`d have no problem with it. I have no problem with it being on display as is. It`s the fact that he stole his stuff.

If he stole canvas and paint from a store, and made art with that, it would still be wrong, but art.

And no TonyJet, in most cases the State is the Prosecutor, for any statute crime. The only time a victim presses charges is when the police decline to do so, either because they feel it would be a waste of their time and a jury would find the perp innocent; or because they want to give the perp a break; or because they`ve been paid off. 99% of the time YOU don`t press charges, the State or Fed Govt does.

It shouldn`t be a big deal because the fricken construction worker boss said he didn`t mind and didn`t want to press charges. More abusive power in action!
