You cannot see this movie sober to even Slightly comprehend this. The original writer used a $h1t ton of acid with meth to produce his "arts". neither am i saying to brake the law, but, you have no such curious desire to understand a mad man? Or if you want to, Follow the bridge

Looks awesome, though I`m not a big fan of Claire Danes-Dakota Fanning-Gwenneth Paltro`s love child as Alice. They could have chosen someone a little more...not her?

I love anything Burton does. The love affair started when I was a child watching Johnny Depp be Edward Scissorhands.

Alice in this movie is 17. She runs away from her wedding or something and ends up in Wonderland, but she doesn`t remember it from her childhood.

It`s odd, but I like it.

But yes, in all, I`m seriously super-duper excited. I have always loved Tim Burton`s works, including his little children`s tales, and I love Alice in Wonderland as well.
Perfect combination.

`its not that the books were dark`
I read the original story, it is indeed dark. It also felt like when I was trying to picture the story that I was like hallucinating or something. It is so bizaare. I think in one point a baby that was having pepper thrown at it turned into a pig.

its not that the books were dark is that "alice" or "thru the looking glass" is one of those stories that can be told in a myriad of styles, like wizard of oz. wich had a recent retell in a scifi like genre. i mean theres even a vide game that make the whole wonderland story a horror experience. i like seeing the diffrent re telling styles. cant wait for this one.

All I`m saying is that I started reading Alice in wonderland(never finished it. I liked the book but I lost it)and it made me frustrated when she kept shrinking and growing so she could get into that tiny door and get the key at the same time!>-(

the books really arent that dark its more like the inhabitants of wonderland like to mess with her the queen never really wants to catch her i remember the line "but if she wanted my head so bad how did i get away"

Have any of you really read Alice`s Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass? They are both pretty messed up to start with. I`ve noticed that there has been alot of simplified more cartoony visions and that`s how been marketed but in my option it seemed pretty dark and odd to start with.

gothy? maybe. whimsical? for sure. but its all about the Dali-esque other world that he creates that intrigues me. its like a visual feast, and i just want to see everything he has to offer as though im intently studying a painting.

actually lukas1051... the original Alice in Wonderland is anything BUT innocent...go read it up...

And the original Charlie and the chocolate factory was infact weirder than the tim burton one. that Willy Wonka too was actually creepier than Mr. Depp`s portrayal too...

I do like Tim Burton`s films but IMO, and it is just my opinion, Tim burton goes for the obvious... if i were to draw a picture... Mr Burton`s style wld be like a person dressing up like the crow or smbody walkign ard with the black clothes or torn victorian garbs with a pale face and supposedly creepy disposition...whereas wod i find really creepy is say a guy smiling to him/herself and truely enjoying him/herself as s/he slices up a body or a person quietly plotting the perfect murder/torture it hi head while still truely being your very nice andhelpful neighbour next door...or smth like that...

glodude75 tim burton had very little to do with the nightmare before christmas he wrote the book but he didn`t help with the movie and only co-wrote the script for the flim. It was directed by Henry Selick who saddly didn`t get much credit for the flim because they used Tim Burtons name for marketing. Henry Selick is known for a good number of flims in simliar style to The Nightmare before chrismas such as Coraline and James and the Giant Peach.

According to my good friend Sir Wikipedia, in this version Alice is going to be 17 and she has visited Wonderland 10 years before but doesn`t remember.

Also, SQUEE! Alan Rickman is playing the Caterpillar!

Again - I am SOOO looking forward to this movie. Tim Burton is amazing and his perspective and creativity are infinite and phenomenal.

With that being said - I agree - the actress playing Alice does look too old to play Alice. Alice was a child. . . this girl looks like a teen.

osirisascend Come on man if you know it`s ICP paint you should know it`s supposed to be ridiculous, I mean come on even ICP said anyone who listens to middle aged men painted like clowns is insane, lol.

This movie is going to be AWESOME, can`t wait, everything looks great so far (like there was ever a doubt).

@JUGGALETTEx0: Yeah, we got it yesterday when you said you don`t like Johnny Depp... So don`t see the movie, okay?

Yes, Johnny Depp is a friggin` weirdo, but he is also an amazing actor, and he seems to take to extremely quirky roles like this like a fish to water. After the job he did for Tim Burton in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", for Burton to cast him as the Mad Hatter, was not just a no-brainer, but a stroke of pure genius.

And JUGGALETTEx0... baby... honey.. c`mon... that ICP makeup makes you look totally ridiculous.

Now, if that`s what you were going for, please disregard my last statement.

This is another one of those films which I will tell myself to see over and over again but never have time for and eventually watch years later on DVD. As with cloverfield, star trek, cars...

Also, what monsdurr said.

@Monsdurr:
I hear ya. I hate it when specific fetish/special interest groups latch onto something that can be cool for everyone, and think it was made only for them.
Goths/emo have their little claws on everything it seems. Don`t even get me started on all the things steampunk people and Furrys have laid claim to. *sigh*

And to add to what dm2754 said, you can see the girl`s name spelt out in the poem at the end of Through the Looking Glass by taking the first letter of each line. The background to the story is actually quite interesting, although strange.

Anywho, I like these pictures more than the last ones. Wonderland looks really cool.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory wasn`t a remake, as Burton has said about half a million times. It was his take on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He hated the Gene Wilder version, and decided he wanted to do his own version of the book.

I don`t think this is supposed to be a remake either, but I could be wrong on that account.

While the people think this story has to do with drugs.yes, the writer did do drugs but that has nothing to do with his creation. The story was written for the soul purpose of entertaining a nine-year-old little girl that he was madly in love with. Upon his death when they search through his positions they found well over a hundred pictures of this little girl. Remember this is back in the tie when most people hadn`t even seen a camera.
Remember the truth is always stranger than fiction.
