Why does he think turning the screen on and off is going to magically make the crack disappear?

Any normal person would have noticed that there were no bumps or indentations in the screen itself

this guys a drating douche, he could feel that it wasn`t broken, when he took out the cable it displayed the no input screen which should have showed him that it was working. Not once did he try to reboot, or check that his mouse was on. All he did was sit there and smack the monitor, like thats going to help. Retard

Can`t he touch it and tell that it`s not broken?

Lol when my dad was younger he got a broken tv that looked the same as his dads and swapped them then put an axe through it

There is a much easier way, just print a scratch/bullet-hole onto a piece of cling wrap (wrap the cling wrap around a sheet of card to hold it as it goes through inkjet), then stick it carefully onto the monitor making sure there are no air bubbles.

How is that easier than maximizing a picture and unplugging his mouse?? lol But that is pretty cool, didn`t know that was even possible..

I would have been fooled right up until I turned on my monitor and saw the "searching for input" box...

good thing he didn`t smash his computer while he was in his rage or he would have really broken it.

Or you could get one of those bullet hole decals (also available at the dollar store).

Hmmm I guess they do crack, but its not the screen - its what`s underneath.

Anyway, they`re at least partially operational even if they do break like that, so the guy really was an idiot, and this `prank` is still pretty pathetic.

Oh and I forgot to add... if the resolution of the image didn`t match the monitor`s native, then there would have been distortions - an obvious giveaway.

keananton: he had one of those old keyboards that a lot of schools have that are super noisy...and he was hitting ctrl + alt + del

How in the heck is that way supposed to be easier? I`d much rather just click "Open Windows Picture viewer" and be done with it. O_o

Very true; likewise he should have noticed the keyboard and mouse unplugged when he unplugged the monitor, but I suspect he was in a state of extreme panic by then and not thinking clearly.

Who types like that???

*POUND RANDOM LETTERS*

And when he switched the cable and the monitor showed its diagnostic message (with no cracking) he should have figured out it wasn`t a problem with the monitor...

@LazyMe484
The reason they unplugged the mouse and keyboard is so he doesn`t just hit "esc" and ruin it.

@LazyMe484:
try telling that to someone that has actually cracked an LCD screen. that`s EXACTLY what it looks like.

he looks like he just wants to scream `MY PRECIOUS!` lol @ his shutting the screen on and off...cause that`ll really help lol. Can I do this on macbook?...probably not, poo, my bf would no doubt revert to his caveman like ways, i.e the opening scene of 2001 space odysessy. lol.

I could only get through a minute of that. Its stupid...

Ok the surface of LCDs is plastic, they`re not glass like CRTs, you can`t crack one.

If it was `cracked` then it wouldn`t also be on and running fine.

If the screen was `cracked` such that it was still bright (the cracked image has different colors, its not just black), then there`s no reason why the mouse and keyboard wouldn`t also work. A monitor merely displays things, your computer would work fine without it.

I don`t know if these people are stupid or just new to this. Mabie a little of both.

"I don`t get it. Wouldn`t the magical power of depth perception reveal that the screen wasn`t actually broken???"

My dad`s LCD on his laptop cracked in the same way displayed in this video. It doesn`t appear to be cracked like glass when you touch it. It just appears cracked on the inside, which is why this prank works so well.

One more tip:

Make sure that screensavers and sleep mode are set to "off." It helps if the screen doesn`t turn black within the first five minutes. >_<

instead of unplugging them (since those red mouses are obvious giveaways when unplugged) you can:

make this picture the computer`s background

CTL+ALT+DEL > Processes > right click on explorer.exe > end process

This ends the main windows process, leaving only an unuasable background pic (the broken screen pic). So then he won`t ever notice an unplugged mouse if it has lights on it.

Yeah kangri that was pretty retarded... But maybe the crack didnt reach that part of the screen, so he thought it was fine.

LMFAO. WHAT AN IDIOT!
When he unplugged the monitor and replugged it back in, he got one of those messages like "No video input" that you usually get when your LCD first boots up. If it was really cracked he wouldn`t have been able to see that message -_-

When I save the picture and then opening it with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, and even press F11, it fullscreens but has a black border around the picture... Is it maybe because I`m using XP?

even better find the temporary files folder and make it read only and put a bunch of restrictions on it then wait for them to install something or move some files around

Ah... I did something like this a long time ago; I edited an error message, used print scrn, put the message on there, then put it as full screen, unplugged the mouse and keyboard. Same idea... 8D
