Obama Stand-up @ White House Correspondents Dinner

Obama proves he has a great sense of humor, but we"re still not sure if he can fix the economy.

I adore him, and everything he has done so far... allthough my girl Wanda Sykes`s bit during the dinner was not only funny, but controvercial enough to piss off many republicans. Whiole I only met her briefly while staying at the Marx Hotel in Syracuse a couplke of years ago, she managed to rattle off enough to have me on the floor laughing. its refreshing to have someone intelligent enough to take himself not terribly seriously. Kudos.

"Oh, and only one world leader has ever "fixed" an economy. That was Stalin. Don`t think we want to become Communist though."

I`m pretty sure Hitler `fixed` his country`s economy, as well.

Shaboobalah: Not really. Buying cars like Hondas and Toyotas still helps the economy because most of the manufacturing plants are in the U.S. It`s not like when you buy a Honda all that money gets shipped over to Japan.
You do make a point in that American cars suck; the cost of all those repairs probably boosts the automotive repair industry. Be patriotic! Buy a crappy car!

I wish people could see that the only way to hasten the recovery of the economy is to support industry and buy stuff... DOMESTIC stuff. I don`t even like Ford, but I`d rather see people buy them than Hondas right now. Oh, and only one world leader has ever "fixed" an economy. That was Stalin. Don`t think we want to become Communist though.

feiku, Every president does this every year. It`s an annual event. Almost like a roast.

Despite whether or not he wrote the jokes himself, I still find it a nice change that he even thought of doing a stand up show opposed to a doing formal speech. Makes him a lot more human. And it was funny.

Haha that was really good! We should have more world leaders doing stand-up, it`s nice to see them as more like a normal person.

"My only criticism:
He should have started dissing himself, moved on to dissing others, then finished with dissing himself."

I agree. But I do like his sense of humor, and how he chuckles a bit after everyone else.

that was pretty funny i gotta admit. although the cheney one wasnt too creative.

I wonder if Bush would`ve bashed the dems like this if he would`ve also gotten laughs.

Best part was the the 10 day anni of his first 100 days

The best part was the teleprompters rising in the beginning. Can you imagine if Hitler had that kind of sense of humor? Methinks the war would have turned out quite differently!

I see Late Night TV in the near future for Mr. Obama. This would give me a good reason to watch if he joins Letterman.

ummm, not his most shining moment. if he really wanted to show he has a sense of humor(and some nuts), he should have had Colbert back...

My only criticism:
He should have started dissing himself, moved on to dissing others, then finished with dissing himself.

In this he just seems like a pompous ass until he demonstrates he can laugh at himself a little. Then it seems a little better.

Otherwise very cool. :)

He`s probably reading them for the first time himself.

Man, the speech writer is sure funny!

So when he leaves the White House he can go on the road doing stand up. OK, he`s no Jerry Seinfeld but he has more sense of humor than any other Presidents that I can remember.
