Whats the problem? It was a completely accurate observation.

Perhaps if she stopped eating like a blue whale she wouldn`t look a like a bloated, flesh colored gas giant.

Loxen..I feel sorry for you. Deciding to stop giving hummers on the corner isn`t "retiring". (although I don`t doubt that without any teeth, you probably did make a lot of money.) With that being said, I`m sorry. Did I say "boobs"? I meant knuckles. Yes. She IS a child. Feel free to insult as many people as you want, but you have to have pretty low self-esteem to pick on a high-school kid, you dumb bitch.

Look at the size of her! Surely this isn`t the first time she has seen/heard this word before?

But because she`s a kid it`s the parents fault I guess.... Not sure how a person could let their kids get that obese.

i`m not picking on fat people,
but that is more of a fact than an insult

i was half expecting a slightly chubby yet skinny girl to be the victim

but i can see why she was chosen.. hmm :|

still, pretty bitchy thing to do.

“I just feel like sitting in my room and crying" said freshman Marie Gray. "And eating a bucket of KFC chicken. With ice cream. Maybe a few large pizzas. And some fries"

This story is bittersweet. You want to laugh even though you know it`s so so wrong

well the thing that this girl should know is that no matter how pretty and popular the other girls are, if they dont have brains to match their lives go to hell after school. i mean im sure there are some that unfortunately escape retribution but for the most part it happens; same with guys.

"how would you like for your biggest insecurity to be picked on where every one can see it"

If it was an insecurity then she would do something about it. Seriously, its not like the students are going to read that comment and go "Oh wow! I never noticed before but she IS a whale! Gee golly!"

Wait I don`t get it... they give out the yearbooks pre-signed?
What?

My school gives us our yearbooks AND THEN we get people to sign them.

This is confusing.

Wow, I have always been skinnish but I still work at maintaining a decent bodyfat %. It wouldn`t be too hard for her to lose weight, put down the donuts and walk for ten minutes a day, I bet you she`ll be sweating like a pig. While this method will take FOREVER for her to lose weight, she will still eventually lose it.

I`m not so little around the middle either, but I can`t help thinking this wasn`t entirely unprovoked.
Sure, the kid who wrote it was a jackass, but for all we know, the girl could be a real bitch, too.
Sure, high-schoolers are cruel, but I`ve known many a girl bigger than her, and nothing like this happened to them.
However, even the skinniest girls are called fatasses, be they bitchy enough. :/

I dunno. If she`s a good person, then whoever wrote it should just rot. Judging by some of these comments, it`s entirely possible.
But I really can`t guess her character. She could just be another bratty little girl who pissed the wrong person off. :/

To be honest, I rarely feel any pity for obese people because I`ve seen countless examples of them stopping their whining about their weight and the sh*t that they get from it, and entering a exersize regimen that allows them to become much more healthy and lose lots of weight. Of course, as with everything, it`s not as easy as it sounds, and this girl did not deserve that kind of degradation, but still I feel like if she really tried to, she could return to a healthy weight.

Ok, commando girl deserved what she got, but this girl, not so much. Not at all really. I agree with Slepre on this one. Her mood will likely deteriorate to the point where she gains even more weight. Why are we so stupid over here in North America (I`ve seen reports similar to this one in Canada as well)? I never hear about crap like this happening anywhere else. I`ve even looked.

i mean while she is heavier permanately writing that she is fat-butt next to her name in a book distrubuted to all of the school is totally inapproraite

see this is much diffrent then the girl with no panties on-- that was her own fault and she deserves what she got

this poor girl is probably just going to have more weight issues becuase emotion is a huge over eating triggers

whoever wrote it should live to be her weight and then get fat-butt written permanately on something of theirs for 2000+ people to see

Puritans. It`s all their fault. >_>

ANYWAY...that was a real dick move. Joke or not, it`s not at all nice or very funny.

Of course High School isn`t all of life and once you graduate it`ll all be behind you. Many people don`t keep their HS friends, some might, but many grow apart. Natural cycle and all.

So be nice, be respectful, don`t be a douche. You`ll live a lot happier that way and people will naturally like you more. Empathy works too.

"Fat girl is called fat and all hell breaks loose?"

It`s not appropriate for this to be in the yearbook. Maybe from a counselor, a nutrition, a concerned relative, her mother—but getting it from random students in high school isn`t going to help her. Seeing it written in the yearbook isn`t going to help, it will actually make things worse.

Pil- everyone is entitled to an opinion, however putting that opinion in a yearbook at the cost of another`s feelings is beyond reprimand. I`m sure there are things about yourself that you don`t like and I`m also very sure that if anyone had written about them in your High School Yearbook in such a manner you`d have been mortified and hurt. The bottom line is yes she could lose weight but no one in the world should be allowed to do that to another person.

On topic. Mean kids suck, but don`t run from them. Go back to school and laugh at them because they`ll end up the ones stuck on welfare with a bunch of small children running around. Karma`s a bitch and paired with stupidity I reckon the kids that did that don`t have too big of a chance to accomplish much later in life.

Listen, I used to be 204lbs. I went on Depo Provera, a birth control shot that among its list of annoying side effects, gaining 20 pounds in less than a month was plausible. Sure enough, I did. Yea, I lost it. I`m down to 145 now and working hard to get to 130 but unless you`ve been there and experienced how it feels to be overweight, you don`t understand why people who are don`t just jump up and work it off.

It`s not that you`re lazy. It`s that you`re depressed, tired all the time, and you feel hopeless. When I reached that weight I though it was impossible. There was no way I was going to get back down to my previous, 170 that was content with and surpassed.

I got tired of feeling so sick. It messes with your head. You feel as if you fit a stereotype. Nothing fits you. You feel ugly-I was almost suicidal at times. It was amazing how much losing weight fixed a lot of my psychological problems.

I suggest before you rattle off solutions, walk a mile in her shoes (so to speak.)

You should have seen my high school yearbook. There were blatant spelling errors, names spelled wrong, favoritism (because the popular, preppy girls ran the yearbook, only their friends made feature pages), and other ridiculous mistakes.

The fact is, my yearbook teacher was dumb enough not to know when something was done wrong, or promoted the fact that there was favoritism because she was in her 20`s and partied with the girls that did it. The only good yearbooks produced are the ones in elementary and middle school. They`re done by adults. In high school, expect a load of poo with a pretty cover and glossy pages. I felt ripped that I paid 60 something dollars for something that seemed to be written in a different language and the same faces were plastered on every page until it got to the classes.

Some people here have a point, it can`t be that hard for her to lose weight if she really feels this strongly about it.

However, the real issue if the fact that the teacher should be editing EVERYTHING that`s given to them by high school students, being well aware that many students lack even basic moral values and common sense.

Ok here`s the thing, you can say that she needs to just "suck it up," but it`s an insult being directed toward her and she`s a freshman in high school. I can`t see her ever doing that, think about how insecure she must have been already. all that`s going to do is lower it. She`s probably going to be really sad for a while then she`s going to have major anger issues for the rest of her life or something. This is sad, I feel bad for that girl. High school is horrible.

How do you know it was said to her face? I see it all the time, everyone is incredibly friendly and nice to one girl any other day but behind her back they run up to their friends going "oh my god she is such a dumb whore, i dont know why I talk to her"
and she is being blatantly singled out by yearbook kids. Maybe she did have a group of close friends in high school and thats what she wanted to remember. Yeah she`s gonna have to get over being called fat eventually, but its being singled out that reallys hurtin.
Its not like ALL the kids had something rude printed next to their names. She was trying to take part in the school by putting her signature in the yearbook with other members of the class.

The ad before the video for adoptable kids kind of made me laugh. "Are you my family?" Because my news station does that to except for animals. Seems kinda odd to me that they would do that for kids.
And in regards to the story, I think the yearbook teacher/editor or supervisor or whatever purposely overlooked these comments, I really do. Because, its kind of hard to NOT notice. Unless he was just a not-give-a-poo teacher who let the students send pages to the printer without looking over them first.
Its true that bullyings gonna happen and stuff but this girl and the boy mentioned in the article have this in the YEARBOOK. Something thats supposed to carry cherished memories, now what does she have to remember?

No complaints, yes this is from Father Ted...

COLM: Hello there starfl4ke.

Starfl4ke: Ah, hello Colm. Out and about?

COLM: Ah, same as yourself.

Starfl4ke: Good good.

COLM: I hear you`re a racist now.

Starfl4ke: Wha...What?

COLM: How did you get interested in that type of thing?

Starfl4ke: Who said I`m a racist?

COLM: Everyone`s sayin` it Starfl4ke. Should we all be racist now? What`s the official line that I-A-B is takin` on this.

Starfl4ke: No, no.

COLM: Only the farm takes up most of the day and at night I just like a cup of tea. I mightn`t be able to devote meself to the oul` racism.

MRS. CARBERRY COMES IN.

MRS. CARBERRY: Good for you Starfl4ke.

Starfl4ke: What? Oh, Mrs. Carberry!

MRS. CARBERRY: Good for you Father. Well someone had the guts to stand up to them at last. Comin` over here, takin` our jobs and our women and actin` like they own the feckin` place. Well done Father. Good for you. Good for you. I`d like to feckin....

Keith2 I can`t agree with you. Not every single fat person got that way on purpose from just eating unhealthily and not exercising. My sister has an irregular thyroid gland, causing her weight to fluctuate, no matter how healthy she eats and no matter how much she exercises. After she got diagnosed and started taking medication to correct it, she started dropping the pounds quick. I`m not saying everyone has a messed up thyroid, but I don`t think it is wise to call out people when it could actually be a medical problem. It makes you look like an a**

Does anyone else think it`s completely rediculous that these yearbook stories are being reported on TV? I mean if the students are already embarrassed enough why go on TV and announce the situation to the world? What is the media going to do?

"she says school is the last place she wants to be" That statement holds true for most of the kids in school. .... "I`d rather be home schooled".. how bout saying, I`m tired of this, I`m gonna start getting healthy.

dear god that chick was disgustingly fat. and don`t give me that oh fat people can`t help the way they are bullsh** because back then there damn sure wasn`t as many fat people there is today. if you`re way overweight its you`re own fault and lifestyle choice. don`t cry when you get insulted and called out for being a nasty eyesore. its called lay off the cheeseburgers and exercise daily. i know many many people who this actually works for.

"are kids that much weaker these days?? We all got teased for one thing or another...my drating god..."

It`s one thing for someone to to call you fat to your face. It`s another story when someone annonymously published the fact that you are fat in every copy of the year book. Remember, this isn`t something that was written in only her book, but it was coppied and published into ever book.

These books are supposed to be proof read by the administration before publishing them. If that doesn`t happen, then the school isn`t doing their job. Simple as that.

"The mom says the yearbook staff apologized for printing the words but blames the publishing company for overlooking it."

Piss-poor excuse from the yearbook staff. As if it`s the publishing company`s job to check the content! They just print what they`re given, it`s the yearbook staff who control the content.
