Whoaaaa that`s kind of messed.. I`m not entirely sure how much of an improvement it is but I think it is for him. I think he feels a lot better about it, and it did happen so recently I`m sure they have other plans but still..eeeh..his new skin looks so much younger :O

It obviously isn`t perfect but it`s much better than his noseless self. I wonder if they are going to do follow up surgeries for those who get the face transplants to make them look more real. Also, does anyone know if they have feeling in their new face (like if you touch their cheek will they feel it)?

I think it does..the nerves are supposed to attach to the skin and there is blood flow under the skin so I think they should be able to feel it :O That`s what I wondered too, if he was willing to go through follow up surgeries.

lol, Lillian tour pic is kind of psyching me out!

The above is Isabelle Dinoire, the first ever face transplant patient! From what I`ve read about her, she has some thing like 80 to 90% feeling and mobility in her face. However I`m not sure how it effects someone with severly damaged bone structure!

Plus there will be lots of life long complications such as kidney failure and the bodys immune system attempting to reject the new tissue.

Not nice but better than the altern

The reason his face don`t fit is because they have to make it too big so it will grow with the other skin. After the skin all becomes his and no rejection occurs they will cut the access off...

Poor guy. He seems a little old to be going through a transplant like that. His skin is a lot thiner than the donation face so it probably won`t ever fully match up very well.

Yeah, I never understand that...why can`t they.....give a face lift? To make it look a bit more...even...and not leave it looking like they just didn`t want to bother with the extra skin.

I don`t understand the kind of people who would be mean to someone else because of a facial disfigurement.

I actually have the movie scarface playing in the background while i was reading this. Poor taste, but i thought that was kinda of ironic.

As for the video. my only question is, where are these replacement faces coming from?

well, I imagine they are coming from organ donnors. So, could you imagine sitting at home, watching the news, when all the sudden the lower half of your recently deceased uncle teds face comes into frame. That would f ck with your head a bit.

How long until we can recreate that pooty nicholas cage, john travolta movie?

i agree with dairy...if they would have just fixated everything under the lip a little better....it would have been close to normal...
