Dear California,

You have failed as a state, We will only be helping you as your movie stars all seem to have second homes here, and we really can`t afford their downfall. However, We would like to remind you of the 1980`s and 1990`s back when You guys were leaving there to come here like refugees, and now, we understand why. Previous acts of asylum are to be no indication of future acts. We are hereby implementing mental stability checks on all California residents attempting to enter the state. Your voters have ruined your state, we will not let them ruin ours.

Enjoy your palm trees, earthquakes, and the high interest rate to which our loan comes with.

Darn it, best I can tell the U.S. is neck-deep in sh*t (and taking the rest of us with it) after 8 years of republican leadership.

Just saying."

It was also under the Republican leadership in both the Presidency and the simutaneous House in Congress that the country came out of the Jimmy Carter era, in which set our country in deeper sh*t than we are now and there wasn`t even a war going on then.

Republican`s with all the sh*t they do, do in fact do some good. The negotiations of the Berlin wall and the sanctions in peace between the Middle East are further proof how productive that party was during tough times.

But you don`t want to acknowledge that... I will. I live here.

Nixon was a Liberal but ran under the Republican ticket.

Anybody who bases their political party affiliation by one mere speech is not only very vulnerable, but they`re not very bright. They are in every way, the wrong kind of voter. Clueless.

vv Orly? I quote the fella here:

"I finally arrived here in 1968. What a special day it was. I remember I arrived here with empty pockets but full of dreams, full of determination, full of desire. The presidential campaign was in full swing. I remember watching the Nixon-Humphrey presidential race on TV. A friend of mine who spoke German and English translated for me. I heard Humphrey saying things that sounded like socialism, which I had just left.

But then I heard Nixon speak. He was talking about free enterprise, getting the government off your back, lowering the taxes and strengthening the military. Listening to Nixon speak sounded more like a breath of fresh air. I said to my friend, I said, "What party is he?" My friend said, "He`s a Republican." I said, "Then I am a Republican." And I have been a Republican ever since."

Actually, historically he`s voted extremely left-wing.

Gray Davis is probably thinking "I told you so!" I still don`t know why we voted for Mr. Olympia. He needs to stick with doing dumbell shrugs and not shrugging off our state budget. It`s unfortunate that so many people have to suffer with all the spending that this state has gone through. Our education is getting cut back as well. How many more cuts do we need? It`s a shame. Sutter just laid off 100 people and now a company in West Sac is going to shut down their plant. This recession tearing our State and our country apart.

Dear other states,

Ok, we messed up a little. We might need some therapy. We`re a little stuck up because we don`t have winters... But it`s still us and New York giving this country every bit of coolness that it has.
You think other countries say "Hey, for our next vacation, lets go to Arkansas!"
You guys NEED us just so the rest of the world still talks to you.
You guys are like our younger dorky siblings our mom`s force us to bring along to parties.
(complete joke, but seriously, amiright?)

Oh and Shadow Ryder, I would listen to you but you come from a state the shape of a mitten, so who cares?

But anyways, for those of you not from Cali, 90% of Californians should be classified as "special" but the 10% who are amazing are pulling this country forward.

quite possibly the best place to draw the line would be just north of san francisco, being sure to cut AROUND Sac

I moved to California from SC a little over a year ago, and the first thing I learned is this: Californians are largely retarded. Not as individuals necessarily, but definitely as a group. Northerners (im about 3 hours north of san fran) go stupid when it comes to things like pot, or anything environmental. They`re mostly a mix of wine snobs(see: yuppies) and stoners (see: hippies). Southerners, I don`t really know so much about, but...they have LA so they must be screwed. I will say that I enjoy living in california. However, I kind of hate the fact that its california. But yeah... in summary. California shouldn`t get a bailout, reason being the group mentality of california would be that they are entitled to it and that the feds should feel honored to be able to give it to them.

Thank you for p*ss*ing all over the Constitution, putting us further into unimaginable debt, involving yourself in almost every aspect of our lives, and causing more problems than you try to solve.

-A Person Who Is Sick & F*cking Tired

We should be pissed at California, but look at all the other states whose supposedly "fiscally conservative" governors and legislatures continue to overspend and increase the size of the government.

I think ANY bailout is bad news. Banks? Car companies? Insurance companies? Newspapers? Socialized healthcare? Jesus Christ on a rhinoceros, WHEN WILL THIS BULL$#!T END?!"

January 20, 2013."

Right, and you probably think Republicans actually stand for smaller government too.

"Also, I kind of seriously think the northern part of Cali should just be its own state. They`re so ideologically separated."

Exactly where would you draw the line, so to speak? Because the rest of us don`t see much difference between any of the big cities in Cali.

the one thing i dont get is california lost its right to federal funding when it legalized medicinal weed. they shouldnt be allowed a bailout. im for the legalization of weed but you cant say drat you to the government and then come crawling for a bailout when it turns out you really do fail at life. cali should take the money from hollywood. sure for one or two years only good movies would make it to theatres instead of 4 good ones and 100+ poo piles a year. but who cares? im willing to make the sacrifice of no direct to dvd movies for a while

This isn`t the other 49 states bailing anyone out with their own money. Bailout money comes from the fed reserve bank, and is essentially imaginary money. The gov`t says "Hey fed reserve, we need 20 billion bucks to make California`s deficit magically vanish" and the reserve says "Okay." What happens next is, the reserve waves it`s magic wand, presses a 2 and a pooload of zeroes into its magic calculator, and then all of a sudden the cash shows up in the gov`t bank. And then the reserve informs us that we owe them interest on all this imaginary money that they just magically conjured up.

That is basically where your income tax goes. Not to paying off our debt, or government expenditures. It just goes to pay that interest on imaginary money.

TBH, there are several parts to this problem.

The first is the California voters and their ability to propose laws, which is a WONDERFUL idea, until you realize they don`t specify where the money is supposed to come from.

The second is the illegal immigration thing. These aren`t 100K workers who are paying 20-40k in taxes every year. These people work hard, and they`re by and large good peeps, but the taxes don`t cover the costs the state pays to educate their kids, then further subsidizes these families through WIC and other programs.

Next, you have the union system and the state government structure itself. Money comes to services in a "trickle down" effect, the problem is the highest tiers take the biggest cuts, and when it comes time to tighten belts, they always cut from the bottom (why services always get threatened whenever there`s budget cuts).

1) The article is biased in its reporting, and gives only selective facts
2) A large part of the problem is the state`s excessively huge criminal load, which could be lightened, by the legalization of marijuana (Which the feds refused to allow)
3) Haha eat it California
