I don`t know about truth in advertising. Who`s to say the company doesn`t add 15% before displaying the number?

@videogamer: it is measuring kilograms. Kilograms are technically mass, not weight (although yes it works on weight so you aren`t wrong).

I think that would be kind of mean for the people who need to sit, namely some of the elderly. There`s a certain point at which you just can`t help your weight because you can`t exercise without breaking a hip.

Seems kinda useless. how the hell is a scale at your local bus stop motivate an overweight person to exercise. Just look at smokers, for an established example, they know it is bad for them and people let them know it, and yet they continue.

yes, because we here in America go by pounds, not kilograms, and if you know anything about converting you`d know that there is about 2 pounds per kilogram. so tell me, how many full grown adults do you know that weigh under 50 kg?

It`s 2.2 pounds to the kg. I don`t know why us Americans have to be stubborn about it.

And yes, 217 pounds is pretty heavy. Especially if a large portion of that is fat. Muscle weighs more than fat.

America is NOT full of fat people. Sure, some places, statistically, might have a higher overweight population than others, but we`re not all obese, my god. The town i live in is full of, generally, healthy weighted people.

On the America being fat topic, I`m an 18 year old guy in America and weigh 150 pounds. While in a Wal Mart I counted the people I saw who looked like they would weigh 3 times what i do, I stopped counting after i hit 30 in 10 minutes. America is fat, deal with it.

I live in California, which is supposed to be pretty low compared to other states in terms of obesity- But there are still so many obese people... Whatever- People can do what they want; If they like cardiovascular disease and getting a full work out every time they go to get a soda pop out of the fridge, they can go on living the way they want.

GothicQueen, that`s healthy, not weird. There`s a healthy level of fat to be had, especially on women. I like a woman with something to grab onto and who`s clothes look like they fit, and aren`t falling off. It`s good.

And no crap, Canuck. One kilo of anything ways the same as one kilo of anything else. Two people of the same size, one made of fat, one made of muscle.. the muscular person weighs more. It`s more dense. Way to take it out of context. "Muscle weighs more."

"Just look at smokers, for an established example, they know it is bad for them and people let them know it, and yet they continue. "
I think the nicotine gum/patch etc. industry says otherwise.

As for Americans=fat, our life expectancy recently went DOWN for the first time in history, and is commonly linked to our rising obesity rates. I don`t have a problem if people want to live that way, I just hate it when they get all offended and deny being fat. The facts say we are definitely a relatively fat country.

and really there aren`t that many fat people in america, its annoying how people say that, granted yes our rates are higher for overweight peopple, but a body mass index (what tells you if your fat or not) isnt that accurate IE a muscular football player type of person who weighs 300 pounds of pure muscle would probably be considered obese on the BMI scale but actually be very healthy, in fact i see more of those kind of cases where i live than just fat people. did you just say there arent that many fat people in America?? where do you get your facts.

130 million people are overweight.. and all those football players. Just because they play football doesnt mean that they are not fat. look at Warren Sapp, or BIg Baby from the celtics or just look at any baseball player (lol) there are many countless examples, that 1000 characters wont let me go into, and all those players, after their career are over, develop multiple kinds of joint p

BUT, however, that`s her weight PLUS the weight of her clothes and her huge purse. So she`s maybe 10-15 lbs less.

""Wouldn`t be able to do that here in the States. Some fat lady would get embarassed, hire a lawyer and decide that her embarassment is worth a couple million bucks and follow the new American dream. LAWSUIT!. "
sad, but 100% true. America`s changed dramatically. Rather than taking responsibility for your actions you blame someone else for your stupidity. It`s the American way. At least, the majority of Americans are like this. Just watch some Peoples Court XD"

lol, and what most people dont realize that the rest of the world is like this too. people really need to toughen up.

Brilliant. I`m sure someone is going to insist that it`s an invasion of privacy or something, so I`m going to call them retarded before they get the chance to do so.

    @ OP,

Yeah, America should adopt it, but from the looks of it, it only has three number slots. We`d probably have to bump that up to at least four here, in America, if more than one person sits on it. Heck, maybe even if only one person sits on it.

This is either really really right or really really wrong... not sure just yet...
Of course, not accurate `cause you`re sitting... but interesting idea anyhow.

I got it...Then again, I`m used to the metric system and not the imperial system like many of my fellow Americans. >.> If you look really closely, you can even see "kg" in really tiny white letters.

Since she`s sitting down, she`d weight a lot more than 68... XD Well, there is the bag. Heh.
