Money is secondary to me. I am going to do what I have always loved... which happens to be on this list.... and be an environemtnal engineer (and since being green adds a 15% premium that pushes the 72k to 82.8k)

I was also surprised to see nursing was on the list. I suppose as the site `said` in “high demand” and if you specialize you can make a fair amount of money.

Those web graphic designer numbers are way off. Also, this list is lucky that strippers don`t have to go to college.

Too bad none of those (save for maybe one) is on my list of things to do.

Hey, Ani187, I used to work at a weapons lab. We had a joke there.

Q: What`s the difference between an electrical engineer and a civil engineer?

A: Electrical engineers design weapons; civil engineers design targets!

Engineering pwns all. You`d all be dead if it wasn`t for us engineers. Well... mabie not dead, just stone-age-ish. Your lives wouldn`t be worth living! Take that, other professions. Aside from doctors. They`re `necessary`...

"the network systems administrator isnt a straight from college job. it takes years of training and qualifications. and average wage is around $35000 (probally less)"

BUT, if you`re training with internships and getting the qualifications while you`re still taking college, it doesn`t take so long.

My boyfriend had several qualifications he needs for Network SysAdmin before he graduated high-school. He took the classes needed for them at a skill center as elective courses. Now all he needs is the Masters. He`s working on his Associate`s right now, and provided he stays up-to-date on qualifications... 4? 5? more years.

With the MBA I`m going for and my Bachelor`s in Accounting on the side... I could be #1, #3, #6, or #7.

Haha!! But then again, I already knew going into financial work would be profitable.

May I ask you, what college offers classes in being a whore?

I`m in college doing a digital design degree, which website design is part of. People on my course can go straight into the last year of a uni course or go into work. A lot of them want to go into the gaming industry.

Pairing my compsc degree with astro to determine a specialty seems like a better idea everyday. At least better decision than my fellow majors taking the astro and physics double major.

yeah, engineers aren`t all socially awkward, but they do tend to turn up lacking in the dating/social department. i go to an intense technical engineering school, and the social life is bizarre to say the least. But points for the high paycheck

even though im studying for engineering, what it said about being over analytical is sooooo true. i met some graduate students for civil engineering and i swear i couldnt tell if they had EVER talked to a girl, much less a black girl (they were white, asian, and indian men)
god i hope i dont turn into a dork like them when i get my degree

this means nothing, it`s a starting salary, web designer is a dead end job, you get £30,000 tops and you can`t progress from there. It`s not all about starting salary, its about future prospects.

It never hurts to be specialized either. Technical engineers are in more demand than whats listed. Great starting pay too.
