Oh, and the best bit about it: "...and since Al Gore invented the Internet..." ...HE is the one who gave the possibility for people to pollute even more! Way to go, green man!

Oh the idiocy. I`ve lost too many brain cells from reading comments.

We must use ALgoreithims to find out how much CO2 is being produced!

Don`t even think about it. I`m guessing not as much, but still. Don`t go there.

Man... I thought this was about Spam food, and I had a real good comment to make about how it stacks up to other production companies... What a waste...

On a more relevant note, this is actually hilarious. Just to think that all those e-mails in your junk with phrases and concepts from the darkest, most sick and twisted lost catacombs of the internet are doing more than irritating (or perhaps entertaining) you. They`re killing baby polar bears. Comedy, at it`s highest most profound form.

More processing space needed for servers, more time wasted, and more frustration. Let`s just kill those who spread spam.

At first i thought they were speaking of the food too.

Man do I love some the retarded things people say in comments. Like s0rd3dvis1on for instance and his perpetual energy world.

@s0rd3dvis1on, while that is true you`ve missed a few points, a server processing more information will consume more energy.
Networks also consume more energy when sending data.

If you have a laptop test it, have it fully charged and leave it doing nothing but background processing, then do the same but run a benchmarking tool until in both scenarios the battery is dead.
See which one lasts the longest.

youre forgetting the fact that the only reason spam causes co2 is becuase it requires servers to send them and they would be on anyway so its sort of subjective (phony even)

"Hm. I thought they meant spam the food."

Me too. I thought we could have stopped production of military-grade meat and allowed everyone to continue driving their Hummers.

No you didn`t read it right, its not the deleting that generates the most C02.

Nido, agreed not a very clearly written article... I assume (since it was never explicitly spelt out in the article), that they mean additional, wasted computer time - hence electricity- wading through spam.

Wait...deleting electronic information creates CO2...? Did I read that right? What?
