Hey, Silver: The difference between the president and the rest of the US is that he`s a world leader who a pooload of people would kill if they got the chance.

I`d say that protecting the head of state is a bit more important than allowing some hick to hunt rabbits with an M4.

Ohh sure, perfectly acceptable for the President to have Automatic weapons available for his protection, but not the other 350,000,000 people in the country.

dissagree on the "Useless in a zombie apocalypse though, SUVs chew up too much gas." comment, wouldn`t it be ideal for busting trough a city? maybe if we add a snow plow or something in teh front? hihi

kick arse, at some points i would hate being the guy holding the camera. unless they are using blanks, then it would be sort of exiting.

I really posted to say really nice job on the grammar in the description.

"It just seems a lot worse because since we have so much money we put a larger emphasis on security than anywhere else."

I just think the American presidents are hated a lot more than most other ones because of the constant warfare, so there`s a greater chance of assassination. I like Obama, but I know that a big group of Americans don`t (mostly those in the south), so that could be the reason now.

>as to the post itself, only prob i can really see is the fire rate would cut through the available ammunition supply a bit too quickly unless its only used for short controlled bursts. personally think a standard M240 would probably be a better choice.

You actually get accuracy improvements once you get past a certain rate of fire... it becomes more like aiming a stream than aiming a series of discrete bullets.

"always found it odd how the president is in more danger in America the most other countries."

That`s a bold statement. The United States is not the only country that has presidential assassinations, though considering how long presidents have been around it doesn`t seem like there have been that many attempts. It just seems a lot worse because since we have so much money we put a larger emphasis on security than anywhere else.

@BrimstoneOne: Dillon Aero has nothing to to with the company formerly known as Blackwater. They are a defense contractor whose chief client is the U.S. Military. As far as the choice of platform is concerned, a large SUV is quite capable of having either the 5.56, 0r 7.62mm variant installed easily. An A10 or Level-IV armored SUV is capable of absorbing a couple of hits from an RPG and still be drivable.
In 1998 there was an assassination attempt on Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze. His Level III armored Mercedes took a direct hit from an RPG and his driver was still able to control the vehicle, allowing Shevardnadze`s escape.

I remember the epi of Mythbusters that featured the minigun where Tory, Grant and Carrie mowed down trees using a dillon minigun. Pretty sweet action. I can imagine that the minigun is pretty loud- I wonder how many Db`s it would be?

Male 2,229
I have been corrected, after reading other posts. Tho anyone wanting a dillon minigun going have cough up $2-500,000 US dollars for one, if memory serves. Wasn`t one those featured on Mythbusters? And also said something about the price, and scarcity of the weapon in civilian circulation.

Not really scary, bad choice of platform, once the surprise factor wears off (about 1 sec), couple well placed RPGs would end that thing. By the way wasn`t this an advert for Blackwater`s weapon`s development program, or some other American Merc company?

osirisascend, no need to act the man, kiddies will be kiddies, let em run around and howl all they want, theyll grow up eventually. let them come up to our level, dont go down to theirs.
as for them not having expert knowledge, so what?
99% of the world is wrong, welcome to earth.

as to the post itself, only prob i can really see is the fire rate would cut through the available ammunition supply a bit too quickly unless its only used for short controlled bursts. personally think a standard M240 would probably be a better choice.

@cman7721: What exactly did I say that prompted you to tell me to "settle down"???

A couple of people posted comments that were ill-informed and in one case, completely incorrect.

I simply provided correct information about what was depicted in the video. If you feel the need to tell someone to "settle down", I suggest you start with TalcumX, whose "F*ck Obama" comment had absolutely NOTHING to do with the video.

You`re the kind of guy who finds himself getting punched out in a bar because you attempt to "police" a situation and end up starting sh*t where there was either no problem to begin with, or the problem has already been handled until you arrive and fan the flames.

Seriously cman, go f*ck yourself.

@NidoNemo: These are actually nothing new. This level of firepower has been available and present in Presidential Motorcades since the Nixon Administration. (and possibly during Johnson`s Administration as well)

However, in this day and age there is a much larger market for this type of weaponry. Not just governments, but private security contractors that provide "Executive Protection" as well. I recently visited a friend in New York who has retired from the military, and now works for one of these "Executive Protection" firms. He showed me an SUV his company had just purchased for use in Northeast Africa that had better armor than is available for the humvee AND one of these Dillon Aero M134 variants mounted in it.

@zoneking and VirtualParty: You are incorrect as well. Fancy has done his homework here, as he does before he posts anything. Dillon Aero does supply the Secret Service with their build of the M134 variant of the GAU-2B/A. They are indeed mounted in two of the three armored Chevy Suburbans you see in a Presidential motorcade.

When protecting the President, some "collateral damage" is expected and acceptable, though great pains will be taken to avoid it if possible.

I wish that all of I-A-B`s "weapons experts" would take the time to look things up before they started talking out of their collective asses.

Okay... all the 13-17 FPS kids can start flaming me again.

Where`s the pursuit missiles?
Or the portable spike tracks?

@Olk: Sorry bro, but it`s NOT a Phalanx Gun System. Also, the Phalanx gun system is NOT for shooting down fighters, it`s a shipboard anti-missile system. This is a Phalanx:

And the weapon mounted on the SUV in the video is the M134 variant of the Air Force`s GAU-2B/A:

Sorry to burst whoevers bubble it was who came across this video, however these vehicles are NOT made for the presidential motorcade in any way shape or form.

These vehicles are made strictly for use by private militaria in lawless (or near lawless) areas where VIPS and government officials are being transported from airport to hotel, etc. etc.
Private security companies such as Xe Worldwide (formerly known as Blackwater USA) often purchase these vehicles for intimidation purposes.
