i say that was part luck. the guy looked kinda amazed at himself and it hit the middle of the post

I think it would`ve been cooler if the goalie saved it... but it was still awesome.

Octillion, actually its just a little skill and knowledge the right angle and speed of the stick (which can be seen in this video) on the flat edge of the puck will lift it in the manor shown.

I`ve seen players do similar things like that before. Meh.

ZacchNasty, the reason it`s so amazing is because the puck is very flat and the hockey stick is very flat. You need to get it under there in such a way so it doesnt just slide on the ice.

that was pretty bad ass..

Zacch, cause hockey pucks are supposed to be slapped, shot, and basically become lethal in the game

In more than one sport that is used... why is so amazing when a hockey player does it?

Also, it may be just me, but any goalie who wears a black helmet and that white cage just reminds me of Hasek.

@Cheeseman: No, he didn`t.
@Tisjokar: It was skills, but he would`ve acted like that even if it was luck.
@Skine: It doesn`t matter. Even on an international level, hockey is an organized brawl.

Slovaks are the best. No question.

Anyway, that was an awesome goal. I`ve never seen anything like that before.

Oh, and in the bickering between which is the best hockey nation, don`t forget the Czech Republic.

It may be an uncommon shot placement, but it`s really not that difficult of a thing to do. Back in the day I practiced putting the puck into the netting above the glass from about 10 feet back (good for clearing the puck on a penalty kill, for example).

The real trick for this shot was making the goalie commit.

How the? Was that lucky or skills?
The way he acted made it look skills, so im guessing skills

Is it just me or did he get lucky from the goalie helping knock it in?

pel, the only two good things to come out of Canada are:
James Naismith
Steve Nash

Just because the shot won`t necessarily be recreated anytime soon doesn`t mean it`s not a great shot :)

Primey, Primey, Primey...

Alexander Ovechkin^2 = Evgeni Malkin

Malkin = Russia

That makes Ovechkin the square root of Russia.

Soviet Russia and dividing by zero in the same day. You have balls, my friend.

That`s what I meant, D. I was just going by the terms good ol` Primey used.

Though being a huge Pens fan, to me, Sidney Crosby is the greatest thing to come out of Canada since Mario Lemieux. So, for me, Sidney Crosby kinda does = Canada, but then so does Lemieux, but does Lemieux = Crosby? Now we`re getting into the same dangerous territory as dividing by zero.

I`ll stop now, before I destroy the world.

Yup, Croby`s ours too. The NHL is made up of about 50% Canadians, I think it`s safe to say we have a bit of an affinity for it ;)

But how can you be expecting more??? When have you ever seen an arc like that??

<3<3<3 for Peloos

you mean "Sidney Crosby = Canadian" or something, pel?
I fail to see how he can be equal to a whole country.

Prime, your math is screwed up.

Sidney Crosby = Canada

THEREFORE

primetimekin = fail

AND

Sidney Crosby > fail

SO

Sidney Crosby > primetimekin

THEREFORE

Canada > primetimekin

"Nice!! Canadians and the Swede`s do it best! That`s why all the best Swedish players come to play in Canada! Whut whut!"

Sidney Crosby> Canada

And I was kinda expecting more than that
