my parents smoke in my garage. My pregnant sister can`t even walk out there, I have to hold my breathe if I want to, and that`s where one of our refrigerators is, so it isn`t like it`s a low traffic area. God Forbid I have a friend with Asthma over and they walk out there.
Not to mention that I have problems breathing some times, and I worry that it may be part of a bigger problem caused by my parents smoking.
So yeah. It`s not about you. It`s about the other people you hurt with your second hand smoke. Until you can find a secluded area where nobody else can ever be affected, you shouldn`t be smoking.
I agree with pomunium. We smokers are being ridiculed, discriminated and insulted, often by non-smoking bigots who have no idea what it`s like to be addicted.Of course it`s still a choice, but if you`re condemning me for it, you sure aren`t helping.
drat you, I hate that kid.
ya im sure you`ll look really cool when you`re dying of lung cancer:(
Anyway, I smoke because I like smoking and it makes me look super cool.
Couldn`t they have got an actor or something?
How on Earth would this make childless smokers quit?
They are. I just saw it last week, only with an American voice over.
This is still the 60`s right?
anyone see the pictures they put on cig packets?
I thought I had forgotten what that feeling was like...but it`s still there. Deep within my mind...that feeling`s one of the very worst.
This is how the powers that be are taking over and creating a one world government.
I`ve never smoked a cigarette in my life, But I don`t support the current campaigns against smokers. Once they have fully vilified smoking, They will go after the rest of our freedoms.
The child has also had previous work in other advertising commercial not too long before this one.
He has played many parts in commercials and acting that require him to cry, straight after the filming he was back to normal.
the man who supports this commercial did not witness them make it, therefor did not know if the producers did anything bad to the kidall he could say that he can stand to have one kid cry to save manys lives
and it true. Yea sure smoke yourself to death and leave you kid motherless.
But admitidly it wouldnt be until the child was grown thta it would get you but you gett the point.
You`re right, hopefully people keep buying those cancer sticks. As long as large companies are making money, who cares about people dying of lung cancer and second hand smoke
Tell that to my uncle and cousins. My aunt died of emphysema last week. She was on an oxygen tank for the past 10 years and finally expired. Now my cousins don`t have a mom anymore.
As for this commercial, it`s called acting. Little kids act in TV shows and movies all the time and part of that acting is pretending to cry when the situation calls for it. The kid obviously could see the huge camera in front of him so he knew that he was being supervised.
Now as for this post? Its a very strong message, but I`ve seen better/harder hitting adds from Truth. And I`m sure it was just a staged thing, too. So the kid is fine and dandy enjoying his big old pay check XD
i second that. That is better than this.
Not ironic at all, they both help making people quit.
The whole goddam world has gone mad with frickin` ultra-sensitivity about everything these days. We are creating a generation of pussies. "
The kid was acting (mighty fine actor, btw), and it was staged!
Pointless (smokers know the bad points, they know why they have to stop... so reiterating the negative illness and death factor again and again is not going to do a thing) but good...

I don`t really see why its controversial.
Being selfish, disrespectful, and narrow minded. Well...that and 2nd hand smoke...yuck!
It leaves no long term distress whatsoever, and will probably enhance the mother-child relationship by concreting dependence in such an early stage of life.
Without a doubt for the greater good in my opinion!
Or maybe he`s just super-toddler and knows how to act already.
These silly adverts always trying to make it sound worse than it is....
You know the one.
