Submitted by: Kim... 8 years ago in Entertainment

You saw her here early this week when she practically made Simon Cowell cry. Here she is now on a US television program.

I don`t like these interviewers. They`re sort of condescending.

She has a very nice voice. A very good sense of pitch and dictation. It makes me happy she`s so recognized. A diamond in the rough. :)

Ani187, it`s great `cause:
1. Everyone thought she would fail magnificently,
2. She`s not conventionally attractive, physically and personality-wise, and
3. She picked a damn good song X3!

It`s cool that she can sing and all, but I don`t quite understand what all the commotion is about. I suppose it`s because of her looks. How superficial we are....

Ani187--She`s not the greatest singer, no, but SHE is amazing.

Please tell me I`m not the only who thinks she wasn`t really amazing? Not that she`s got a bad voice, she doesn`t, but it`s pretty mediocre, not really something to write home about.

I heard her sing she is amazing,
however I was watching something last night and they said the Britan`s got talent went and recruited her for the show, so they already knew she could sing very well

Her looks are not the main reason this is happening. It`s also because of how she acted when she first came on the stage. Her manerisms were those of someone who is probably a bit odd. The reason it`s such a big deal is becasue the show, as I`m sure most of you know, is a cross between praising people who are good, but also taking the wee out of people who are rather odd.
So they were all ready to make a joke of her and the joke ended up being on them. I hope she does really well, because people who don`t really fit in never get a chance in "the biz" anymore. I hope she has a really great time and enjoys the glamour of it all before she goes back doing Karaoke at her local pub!

yo-i-am-luke:"Ack! That lass got a right set of pipes on her. When she started singing the wee berdens even stopped messing `bout to lisen.

It warms mah heart to hear such a bonny voice..."

Tip from the local: if you`re pretending to be Scottish in writing, you need to go all the way. None of this half-hearted nonsense. Like this:

"Ach, tha` lassie`s git a braw voice. Aw the wee bairns wiz awfy quiet, ken.

Ah wiz near greetin`, she`s `at brulyent..."

Congratulations, you`re now Scottish. Welcome to the club.

Big deal. Some ugly woman can sing opera, that suddenly makes her the best person in the world does it? Charlotte Chruch can sing opera, and I sure know who I`d rather watch a video of...

That said, I`m sure a radio show would suit her perfectly.

She`d BETTER win!

If she did win, all she`d need is a new hairstyle, a bit of a makeover make-up wise and her eyebrows styled and she`d be a mega hit!

But then I can see her being in Les Mis or other musicals :)

@FluffyOrchid - I totally agree. While I think she`s a very talented singer and I am happy for her getting to live her dream of singing for the world, I can`t help but feel like it`s all for the wrong reasons. Everyone who talks about her always makes sure to mention how much they expected her to fail based on their first glimpse which is completely ridiculous. Physical beauty and musical beauty have absolutely nothing to do with eachother.

It`s really upsetting that all the news coverage of her performance isn`t of congratulations so much as recognizing the fact that everyone was blown away by her voice when all they were preoccupied with was what she looks like. It`s always been this way, it`ll always be this way, but the media doesn`t need to come out and say what everybody was thinking, and try to make it seem like a human interest piece on foreign popularity in America. That`s bullsh*t.

This woman is absolutely amazing. I hope she goes far.

But please, for the love of God, stop playing the singing clip over, and over, and over, and over on the news. I`ve lost count of how many times I`ve just been sitting at my computer with the TV on in the background and then I hear "I dreamed a dream...."

She seemed so confident on the talent show, but on the air, in this clip, she seemed really nervous.

I`m having to dig into the deepest realms of impartial modliness to not respond in a negative way to the haters here.

Come on guys, sure she ain`t pretty and she`s old, and a bit of a nerd. So what? Talent is talent.

I agree with snottydyck that it`s really only so popular because she`s ugly, but at the same time I think she REALLY deserves the fame, because she is AMAZING.

That`s so nice.
You should never judge a book by it`s cover.
=)
She showed all those people who laughed in her face how good she was.

SHE had the last laugh.
Wish her the best luck!

dragonshadoz, she has a mental disability that stems from birth so I think that`s why these two on "CBS This Morning" were sensitive to that. But seeing how articulate she is -and how quick witted!!!- she proved once again, not to be too presumptious.

I love that about her. She hands it right back in spades. Such a sweet soul.

She`s a star. I absolutely love her. I`m estatic that she`s knocked everyone`s socks off. She proves that you don`t have to grind your hips, lip-synch, need studio enhancements or plastic surgery to have so many millions of us take notice appreciating pure talent.

"That video was pretty good, she seemed a lot more uncomfortable in her own home in front of the cameras then she did on stage in front of hundreds, I guess it could just be the invasion of privacy."

I think it`s likely to be performing that settles her. Once the music starts, you either fold or the nerves go away. If you get the first note out right, you`re going to be fine even if you were on the verge of wetting yourself with stress a few seconds before.

"Susan is fantastic, check out her competition 43,000,000 hits and counting "

It`s nearer 90 million hits for Paul Potts` audition for the competition - there are several copies of the video. Although maybe the 4 million copies of his debut album count for more. More money, certainly.

He`s not her competition, though. He`s not in the competition - he won it two years ago. He`s a classical tenor, she isn`t (obviously - it`s a male pitch). They`re not competing in any way.

We get it, she`s a good singer. They`re just highlighting the overused saying "Don`t judge a book by its cover" with this lady and it`s one of the most read/heard stories anywhere.

A not so externally beautiful singer with a good voice, hurry, lets put it on every major news outlet in the world!

I really think she`s so great and so wonderful but I feel really bad because of whats gonna eventually happen to her being in the limelight so much. Sure most of us love her, but theres gonna be those groups of jokers whose voice will seem so much louder while they sit back and make fun of her and ...
idk, it would be really sad to see this wonderful lady get hurt by all this media overattention.

I feel so sorry for anyone else who`s got through to the live shows of Britain`s Got Talent. They are probably sitting at home thinking they haven`t got a hope in hell. Just like the media took the whole Jade Goody thing too far, I think they are going to take this too far.

Actually it`s 6 hours ahead where she is then it is in NYC.

I thought she sang beautifully & hope she wins, my friend sent me the link a few days ago and I was completely floored when she started to sing. Then on top of her story, it was just sad & beautiful.

I hope nothing but the best for her in the competition.

I like how they say "More than 11,000,000 hits on Youtube" like it is some sort of title you should show off to all of your friends.
"I`m a general!"
"I`m a CEO!"
"I have 11,000,000 hits on Youtube. Checkmate."
