To all you people who think this is fake. That little yellow square and a quarter shows that it`s from National Geographic. In fact there are several species of horny toads in the American southwest. We have them here in Colorado although not the squirting kind. Their spiky armor is actually very soft. And they are small and cute. Being that are also slow are often played with by children.
Why does the coyote care that it got blood squirted on it? Wasn`t it going to eat the lizard anyway? Last time I checked, that involves blood...
True dat. But I loves me a good cheeseburger, and that involves ketchup. If said cheeseburger were to start squirting ketchup at me just as I`m about to chow down, you can bet your arse I`m gonna run like f*ck.

ooooow...
And why would this deter the coyote?
Presumably it would have to come into contact w/ some blood in order to eat the thing.

What is this, for 5 year olds? I don`t think it would be possible to make the commentary more moronic. Thought Nat Geo was supposed to be a sensible channel!

It would be surprising if there was one person here that hasn`t seen this video or have seen something related to this lizard.

Is it just me, or did the blood seem thinner (runny-er) than usual blood? Mixes with water in tear glands? Who knows? Meh. It`s still pretty creepy.

Nope I was right.

The coyote smells the blood, and thinks he was injured.

Evolution* at work - animals have now evolved* a defence method nowadays where they give their enemy AIDS!

Woooo yeah Sonoran Desert. Just FYI, it extends pretty far into Arizona too. I live in Tucson, and we`re surrounded by desert. That and the largest stand of ponderosa pine in the country. But mostly deserts.

It`s funny, though. We just call them "horny toads". Oh well.

...why is the coyote afraid of getting squirted by blood? I mean, when it eats the lizard isn`t it going to get blood all over the place anyway?
