Opie: We don`t know yet if this one is any better..

I think it looks nicer than the same-old-same-old apple..I am actually quite surprised that it is a Dell, because as the girl said, they are usually quite bulky.

Too bad the interviews are staged.. (The girl says it is lightweight before she even picks it up..)

And Macs are nothing more than a fashion accessory. All this `Mac Community` bullpoo and `It Just Works` (even though there are numerous `Help me, it`s broken` help forums out there). Notice how all Macfans come out with are corporate slogans invented by the Mac wizards? Yes, let`s queue all night for an iPhone. It has less features than a standard phone $200 cheaper, but I don`t care! I love the HUGE announcement that the latest iPhone is.... wait for it... going to get COPY, CUT, PASTE! features. Like no other phone available has that exact same feature and more!

Yep, that should create a nice Mac / PC flamewar. Especially from Macfans who think I`m being serious. Or am I? *Diehard pose!*

Who cares how thin a laptop is? As long as it lets you look at porn and play games, does it matter!?

I have a white 80 gsm laptop which is about 0.0001 inches thick. It displays anything, in real time, which I input to it using a graphite and lead stylus...

It`s just like the mac book air... not tiny enough and cost way too much.

So wait, mac air which is 0.16 inches is thicker than the 0.65 dell? I really should have concetrated more in maths, because I could have sworn the mac was thinner. Though, I digress, the air is thicker in the middle at 0.75.

I enjoy macs but they are definately a little too pricy for my wallet but then again as the one person said, if dell or someone else offered to run programs similar to mac os, I`d buy it.

Thinner than the mac book. I was disappointed to find out that its specs are comparable to the mac book, and its at about the same price. (The macbooks are 1800 and 2500).

Dang.

Still brutally expensive. I could build a beast of a machine desktop that could take over the world with that kind of cash.

The dell website does a fairly poor job at advertising the laptop. I find it incredibly hard to actually "see" the laptop with all the extreme closeups of irrelevant parts of the computer.

The site is probably a little too obnoxiously artsy.

nothing wrong with dell, my system is a dell XPS that i added a second gfx card and more ram to, works better than most of these top of the line systems out there or custom built things.

I don`t like my laptops to be thinner. Thinner means more likely to break. >.>

For that amount of money, I`d do much better than some squishy laptop.

"No, im not a mac boy Shin. Dells are just a POS. I`d rather build my own rig. No offence to anyone who owns a Dell and willing to die for it with thier loyalty."

So you`re going to build your own laptop?
I mean, it`s possible, but good luck, I`d rather just buy one.

I love building desktops, but if you`re going for portability I wouldn`t diss laptops at all.

My current desktop is at my old house, built it myself.
The place I`m staying now is rather... confined... so I got a high-end laptop (not quite a Sager or anything, but a good laptop).

It`s a fine desktop replacement.
Dell isn`t bad. Their desktops aren`t bad. Their laptops aren`t bad. I just prefer Acer and Asus for their laptops.

And btw, to whoever said they had a Vaio, I`m sorry for your bloatware. I`m sure it would`ve been a fine machine. :p

I chose my laptop because it was as light as I could get with still a reasonable amount of power. The only downside is that it doesn`t have an internal cd-drive, but it came with a very good external one. I think lightness and slimness are really important, since the whole point of having a laptop is that it`s transportable.

"No, im not a mac boy Shin. Dells are just a POS"

Ive got a custom rig and a dell xps lappy. gotta say i was unsure about dells, but the xps line is ridiculously good. i wouldnt reccomend a PC from them tho, but the laptops are great.

But thin laptops are dreadfully bad, the LOL-AIR is a perfect example.

all customer service ppl i talk with are Indian. it very hard to communicate. one time i called Verizon 30 something times that week cos my internet wasnt working and all the people were Indian with different names.

I`d like that, assuming it has decent processing power.

I know macs have a sturdy build and they just "feel" nice, tight, and well built. (price tag reflects it :O)
But the air was stupid. Too little of functionality.

This one looks like a good laptop. I`m assuming it has integrated gpu, 2-4 gigs of ram, and a core 2 duo, meaning it would have reasonable speed.

Looks sturdy and sleek to me... and it probably has a disc drive already in it (rolling eyes at apple).
Nothing wrong with it.

I`ll stick with my asus m50vm though. :)

Soon enough companies will be making laptops as thin as paper whos only function is as a word processor.
0

Male 62
Well I usually say no to Dell anyways, but this just cannot be a good investment. They didn`t really show any of the specs off, so I`m guessing the practicality of it is just as bad as the Air.

Well it makes sense, the companies want you to break it so that you will buy a new one.

I don`t get why people want such thin laptops... I get that it`s easier to store/carry around, but you could break it so easily...Isn`t a normal laptop thi enough? Not to mention the reduced space, battery, less features....

Even the Macbook Air seems pretty useless to me, except for design and showing-off purposes. And I`m a mac.

I`d happily lug a laptop the size of an oldschool brifcase around if it meant battery life and adequate processing power.

Mainly battery life if I was using it for work.
