TiVo, BlackBerry, Nintendo Wii, Wikipedia. Do you know the names, but do you know where those names came from?

the best one left out of this list, was the name "mario" a character everyone knows and will not forget. when the original game came out with "mario" facing off against donkey kong he was called "jumpman" eventually nintendo had a problem with a man named Mario segal[sp?] involving money of course. so they decided to name the character mario. gotta love nintendo.

Fail on the translation of "hulu" in Indonesian (and to a closer extent Malay). It does not literally mean `butt` as in the physical human backside or bum.

It means `end`. Like `hulu pedang` means `the end (a.k.a the hilt) of a sword`.

So hulu isn`t popular in indonesia because of it`s name, but more because we can`t use it over here (F you broadcast laws).

I`ve always wondered how the words "All" and "Most"
came to mean a close call (Almost).

"proves everything a teacher tells you, that is not in the ciriculum, is wrong"

I spent the past 6 years of my life thinking/actually telling people that kiwis were a crossbreed of strawberries and bananas, thanks to an assclown teacher like that.

I`ve wondered what wiki meant for the looooongest time, but have been always too lazy to look it up. Thank you, once again, for doing the dirty work, IAB.

I think the wii was originally going to be named the "Nintendo Revoultion" instead of "Nintendo Wii". Interesting stuff though!

I saw an ironic thing involving a Prius yesturday. I was driving behind one, and they threw an empty two-liter bottle on the road. Get it?

And the concept for the Wii`s name is pretty cool, but I think they should`ve stuck with "Revolution"

Lmao! Was I the only one that read about wikipedia on wikipedia? It shows right there that the wiki comes from the wiki wiki shuttle bus in Honolulu.
