"Um, I think you guys`re confusing PETA with the ALF and Earth First!. o.o;
`Cause I`ve sure as hell never heard of a PETA raid."

No, we`re not confusing them. At least, I`m not. I never said that PETA commits acts of terrorism themselves (though chances are they do). I said they FUND people and organizations like the ALF who commit acts of terrorism. They also employ several people convicted of crimes committed in the name of animal rights.

Of course, when you get down to it, there`s little difference between committing a crime yourself and providing someone else with the resources to do so. PETA does the latter on a regular basis.

Hah. Some of you supporting peta are pathetic.I don`t see why you love animals so passionately. They are just that, animals. And you can guarantee that if I have to slaughter, torture, kill, eat and animal to survive, you can be sure I`m going to do what it takes to survive. Now don`t get me wrong I don`t hate animals. But if it counts on me surviving, I come first.

i dont see the fuss on animal rights anyway, and treating them in a `humane` way... they`re not human, they can be treated like animals because they`re.. well.. animals. once they have their own crack at special global domination they can knock themselves out with making rights up for themselves.

The problem is, without animal research, medical progress essentially grinds to a halt. We would basically never find a cure to another disease. Ever. And that includes diseases for animals.

No one enjoys performing medical experiments on animals. But without that research, most of the human population would be dead by now. And one might could say it`s selfish to put our own species above all others, but Mother Nature is a bitch. We`re programmed to do everything we possibly can to try and survive.

"So many people hate PETA because they`re generally horrible people. PETA funds terrorists who attack animal research facilities that conduct potentially life-saving research, while their vice-president is kept alive thanks to drugs developed via animal testing. They are, quite simply, one of the most hypocritical organizations to ever exist. Which would be fine, except for the part about them causing real and serious harm to people. "

You must be a genius, because that is HILARIOUS. NOBODY has EVER said that before EVER!! Wow. Hahahaha, you sir are a comic genius. Oh man, I can hardly breathe I`m laughing so much. Oh god, that should be repeated by everybody on anything ever having to do with PETA because it will NEVER get old because it is SO funny. Oh that was drating hilarious, good job man.

LOVED this! I`m all for the rights of animals, but NOT for someone FORCING me to conform to their way of life. If I want to kill and eat Bambi, that`s MY business. And if I want to wear fur or leather to keep warm, that`s MY business too! I don`t need some radical group to tell me how to live my life! Nice to see someone exposing groups like PETA for what they are.

Boredx12, if you support PETA, that`s fine. Just know what you`re supporting.

If PETA had their way, they would let every human being die of cancer and AIDS if the alternative was to experiment on a single rat. They would forbid the owning of pets, so pet-owners who support PETA are screwed. Animal products are used in and essential to so many aspects of modern civilization that it`s mind-boggling, and PETA would put a stop to all of it, so no TV or movies ever again (as the film uses animal products).

Plus, at the end of the day, it`s natural for human beings to eat meat. Not eating meat goes against the natural order. Killing animals may not be pretty, but that`s an aesthetic issue, not a moral or ethical one. I fully support treating animals as humanely as possible, but to not use animals at all, for anything, including food, is just ridiculous to me.

*deep breath*
I actually support PETA.
*waits for a huge fist to come out of screen*
*ducks*
Because they`re the biggest animal rights organisation, and I for one support animal rights. Supporting the biggest therefore makes it bigger, gives it more weight and therefore more chance of success in the long term.
Also, they make all those awful undercover videos showing people what they`re eating/wearing etc, and I think that if everyone saw those in restraunts there`d be an omnivorous option where the vegetarian one is now.

I know PETA supports euthanasia. I dont think this is great, but Im not the only one so I reckon we can make them change. And once they stop being so hypocritical, they`ll hopefully get more people to listen so we can improve + save billions of innocent lives worldwide.

*waits for everyone to give their opinions*

I`m predicting this is going to turn into something similar to that of Clay Aiken`s maniacal fans. Insisting vehemently that Clay Aiken is *not* gay when there`s a million hints that he is. And when Clay did come out of the closet they all exploded and we`re all happy.

Just waiting for the PETA activists to start exploding.

on a side note: Yes, I love debating in IAB too because at least a lot of people here are reasonable and not brain dead.

PETA continues to expose themselves for the fraud they are. A report came out not too long ago showing the number of companies, organizations & Public donations alike dropping their support (financially, etc.) significantly from PETA because they just proven themselves to be low grade radicals essentially and hypocritical money hungry frauds who use the word animal to carry on their hidden agenda. PETA likes to pretend they have all this clout in society, but when you really look into it you`d see they have far more anti-PETA individuals then they do for them.

Baal, I wasn`t attempting to come at, you at all :) Just the way it was worded sounded (to me at least) as though they openly admit without provocation, which is definitely not the case.

Hehe,

Baal, just a lucky guess on the mint tea. I`ve been to Dubai, Muscat, Damascus, Tehran, Tunis, Doha, Manama and Tripoli (the Libyan one) enough times to make a stab that at any given moment, your average common-or-garden resident is likely to have a mint tea in his hand. I like it too, by the way.

And Lettermage, you should join in more of these forums. It`s fun and interesting, and I`m sure Baalthazaq will concur.

The great thing about IAB is, it`s an online community, so even when regulars like Baal and I disagree on specifics (Baal, you know I speak of our religious viewpoints), we can still respect each other and have a good old debate. And that is why I love this place so. To find intelligent and interesting people is a rare thing to luck into these days.

I hear what you`re saying lettermage, but if you`re responding to me personally, I think you`ve prolly got the same impression davy gets.

I eat meat. I own cats. I`m pretty ok with using animals for food/clothing/etc. Hell I`m not even all that against clubbing seals.

PETA irritate me for a lot of reasons, but at the same time I don`t like them being falsely attacked. If PETA are *such* a horrendous .org, then that should be demonstrable without a propaganda filter.

They don`t kill animals for fun or profit.
What they do is not a big secret.
There is no flash of lightning behind PETA members when they speak.
They do cast a shadow and have reflections.
Etc.

You know, what PeTA does is their thing. The issue that I have with them is that they take charitable donations from families around the country who are made to believe that PeTA is finding homes and giving family animals a fighting chance. They don`t mention to their donors that most of their money donated is used for either radical, over-played nut job bail money, protesting medical testing which has saved lives (don`t agree with makeup testing either PeTA, but if they can find a cure for AIDS, go for it), or killing animals. If they did, that organization would go under so fast that you`d swear they an hero`d.

BTW, did you know that PeTA is considered a charitable organization, who doesn`t have to pay taxes to do the things they do?

Baal, I do understand what you`re saying, but when someone donates, the person they speak to probably says something shiftable like "Your money will go to help dogs and cats across the country", never mentioning humane murder (oxymoron m

Joolin:
"They protest animal shelters simply because they euthanize."

BZzzzzzzzzt. Wrong answer. What they protest are the inhumane methods used by some shelters.

Quote:

"Sometimes the most humane thing that a shelter worker can do is give an animal a peaceful release ... PETA, The American Veterinary Medical Association, and The Humane Society of the United States concur that an intravenous injection of sodium pentobarbital administered by a trained professional is the kindest, most compassionate method of euthanizing animals."

"If your local pound or animal shelter is using any euthanasia method other than an intravenous injection of sodium pentobarbital, protest to local authorities and demand that humane methods be implemented. "

"I would like to the proof on this. I know we all like to hate peta, but come on, stop believing everything they say about peta."

PeTA is a charity, so they are legally required to make all financial information open to the public. Because of that, you can see for yourself exactly how much of their money is going to things like giant walk-in freezers and contracts with crematoriums. You can also see for yourself the exact number of animals euthanized each year if you look hard enough.

"There are far too many stray and homeless cats and dogs as it is. It would be drating impossible to find homes for every single one of them."

First off, by that logic we should be euthanizing homeless people, and unless you`re a complete misanthrope you probably don`t want that.

Secondly, they claim to be against all animal killing. They protest animal shelters simply because they euthanize.

And P.S. I didn`t say it was a repost, I said the source was the same. CCF doesn`t have data on display, PETAKILLSANIMALS.COM does.

Thisistrue gets its information from the same site.

ERGO, just permalink petakillsanimals if you`re trying to make a point. (I`d also advise just permalinking cracked.com. :P)

Furthermore still the idea that PETA does this to make money is preposterous. PETA Spent $9,370 on a walk-in freezer. Ergo, it lost basically $10`000 here.

Damn PETA and their greedy money losing schemes!

They aren`t required to take in any animals... they`re not saving money by killing them, this is a flat out loss.

PETA takes animals from shelters? Why are the shelters giving them to PETA in the first place if they could easily find homes for them? Why are loving owners giving their pets away?

These animals are for the most part, sick, lame, old, and UN-adoptable. .

0
Reply
Male 4,546
PETA killed over 2000 pets.
PETA takes in UNadoptable pets, which is part of the discrepancy.

8`900`000`000 chickens are killed annually in the US alone.
330`000 seals in the next month.
35`000`000 cows.

The average American will eat 1800 chickens in their life. That is a comparable number, not the above. As a percentage, how many did you find a good home? Why you so hypocritical IAB?

Here is PETA`s response to the old accusations, including why they put animals to sleep, and why the shelter mentioned is not a comparable.

Finally, all of these stories revolve around the numbers PETA PUBLICLY PUBLISHES. I think at the very least the accusations that PETA does any of this secretly should stop.

There has to be a lawyer out there somewhere who could rightfully claim this as animal cruelty and severely cripple PETA.

Sure, Animal shelters must euthanize pets after a time, but during that course they are actively trying to get these pets into loving homes. If PETA is not going to put these animals up for adoption after they "save" them, what are they expecting to happen to them?!

What would happen if some 40 year old psycho was adopting animals and taking them back home and killing them? His ass would be in a jail cell in no time.

Either PETA stops being hypocritical douche-drats or the hammer of the law should fall on them. Have Obama reopen Gitmo and send them down there with only Spam to subsist on.

Wouldn`t getting pets adopted counter PETA`s ethics? I thought they were for total animal liberation (which would mean liberation of "pets" as well). The whole thing is laughable really, but you`d think the whackos would at least try to release all those dogs and cats onto a free range private animal reserve or something. :P

I have to agree with CrakrJak. PETA are a bunch of halfwits who don`t value human life and the certainly dont value the life of domesticated animals in any way shape or form (Remember..we are talking about an organisation who is run by a person who has publicly stated humans should have no interaction with animals ever).

That said, they do have a point when it come`s to killing animlals just for their fur, hide or worse, just for fun.

Now I`m hungry and must eat meat! :D

Even if euthanasia is the right choice for those animals (which there is no evidence to suggest it is, especially in such large numbers), that doesn`t change the fact that this is a group who protests animal shelters who practice euthanasia and funds terrorists who attack animal research facilities.

PETA kills far more animals than they actually save. The vast majority of animals that PETA rescues are killed without even an attempt to find them loving homes. Yet they say anyone other than themselves who kills animals is evil.

It just doesn`t stack up.
