Hmm...You know I don`t think that the punishment for shooting at a Police Officer needs to be any more severe than shooting at anyone else. I figure if you shoot at someone without a damn good reason you should just be locked the hell up or put the hell down. At any rate, 120 years ain`t because he talked back to the judge.

Judge John Wulle passes down some of the most week sentences out there but, I guess this defendant was just to plain stupid to STFU. There is only one option for appeal in this case and I doubt a another superior court judge would even touch this case or an attorney would accept such an unruly client.

that
even if the guy was a jerk, the judge should be more responsible for the guy`s life .. Thats why he`s the judge.

he should do whats best for others. The stupid guy will regret what he did from day one.

wtf is the point of being able to hand out multiple life sentances, 120 year jail sentances etc when you know damn well that the person will prolly get out in 15 years ANYWAY thanks to parole, and besides they wouldnt even live so long?

so he got an extra 100 years for that and he didn`t even kill somebody .. even if the guy was a jerk, the judge should be more responsible for the guy`s life .. Thats why he`s the judge.

he should do whats best for others. The stupid guy will regret what he did from day one.

"Wait can a judge just hand out sentences of whatever they want?" No, not usually. Judging by this video, the public attorney recommended that 120 years would fit the crime, and the judge decided to go with that and not be more lenient because of how the defendant was acting.

"Wait can a judge just hand out sentences of whatever they want. I thought there were a strict set of rules that judges had to issue sentences by? Or at least i thought that was the case in the UK, not sure about the US. Could be wrong though..."

Judges can do whatever they want, they can sentence anyone to 100 years just because they feel like it.

no, actually when he said he would gag him, that`s exactly what he meant. If the defendant`s actions continually prevent the court from proceeding, then he may be restrained accordingly. If he`s violent or an escape risk, he will be tied. If he basically just won`t shut the f*** up, then they can literally put a muzzle of sorts on his mouth. It`s made especially for that situation. It`s not just like a dirty rag. Very seldom used - but it indeed exists.

I`d have loved to have been there a few seconds after when they called the next case...

"Case #1047, sit down, and I`m warning you, DON`T f*ck with the Judge this morning..."

"dystopia04:i think the judge was being a bit umproffesional "ill have you gagged", but no doubt that the dick being sentenced deserves some consequence to his actions"

The judge didnt mean he was physicaly going to `gag` the defendent. He was using the legal reference. Read the definition:

Noun 1. gag order - a court order restricting information or comment by the participants involved in a lawsuit; "imposing a gag order on members of the press violates the First Amendment"
court order - a writ issued by a court of law requiring a person to do something or to refrain from doing something

People like that should be lined up and shot. I`m not saying because they don`t listen to the government, it`s because they don`t respect anyone but themselves. The Law can sometimes be harsh but this judge seemed like he had been dealing with this guy and hearing about this guy for awhile now. Sometimes I think the law goes over the line, but in this case..this dick is just a stupid phuck & I blame his parents for his attitude problem.

as a judge, you have a right to pretty much sentence people as you see fit.

Why should the judge get respect he was being a dick too. Instead of wasting our money he should of just sentenced him in accordance to the crime. The ACLU will nail this judges balls to the wall at least I hope so "Do you want me to have you gaged" freedom of speech ass clown you can`t do a thing about it. I can never understand why people forget they are protected by the constitution and the judicial system is drated

This will more than likely be appealed, as an excessive ruling, and he`ll likely get it reduced. Furthermore he`ll have learned nothing, and still be an arrogant zit on the ass of the US population.

@Clayboy: Oh, I didn`t mention the defendant because that guy was obviously an idiot. Didn`t think it needed saying. :P The Judge though... I think he could have used a little more restraint instead of letting the defendant get to him like that. A life sentence is a quite bit of taxpayer money, for one guy getting under your skin. Seems... silly.

wow, you shouldn`t be allowed to give a man 100 extra years in jail just for pissing you off. The defendant will soon regret his attitude after about 1 day in.

The defence was sitting there like "Shut your mouth you f`ing idiot, how stupid are you but I can`t say anything cause I`m supposed to be on your side..." I admit I was surprised, the Defendant looked like such an intelligent, upright, moral, friendly participant of society...

You can only request an appeal based on a misinterpretation of the law. Not because you think the Judge was a D-bag. That guys lost any chance he had for a lighter sentence.

Male 648
Yes they "can" give you the maximum, that doesnt mean he has no appeal. A judge, just like a police officer is in the position they`re in because they`re expected to act and react accordingly and with a calm-mature damenor. When a judge starts saying shut up and allowing the defendant to get under his/her skin...they open the door for an appeal....while we all agree the dude deserves it...some judge somewhere will hear his appeal and probably grant him a new sentencing, they might reduce it from 120 years to 100 years...but he`s going to prison forever...end of story

Lol the guy has no chance for appeal based on his behavior, in fact, his lawyers probably quit right after this because what the hell are they gonna do with someone like that? You badger a judge they can and will give you maximum sentence.

he has no appeal. the state recommended that he get 120 years. a judge doesnt have to select that sentence but in this case he did.

and there`s his appeal set up right there. If the judge loses his head, and throws his toys out the pram, he`ll give him an unfair sentence that won`t stand up to appeal.

Saddest thing is that this guy will probably just let his anger fester and boil, blaming all of the hardships he will experience in prison on "injustice". I doubt he will (even once) seriously reconsider his conduct that day on his own, nor his actions which led to that day, not to mention the entirety of his mind set.

Perfect.

Reminds me of a sentence in the UK, where the judge passed down the sentence, and the defendant claimed "Pfft 3 years? I could do that spinning on my rooster" so the judge added on 3 more years or something.

Lemme find a link.

There is definetely a sub-culture here in America that is very disturbing.... This guy is the poster child for them, and I`m glad I`m not part of it.

What a waste of human tissue, all he amounts to is a life-support system for an Ass-Hole.
