I dodn"t know people could actually manipulate the coils. Isn"t this dangerous?

Its actually because of the suit hes wearing, not just the block. The suit acts as a faraday cage keeping him from being electrocuted

If he dont fall from that plastic bloc he`s safe.

Plastic dont conduct electricity.

Isn`t that based on the same technology they used to make the speccy sound like it had more than one audio channel?

That`s pretty awesome, all they`re doing is pulsing the electricity through the tesla coil at the right frequency to emulate sound, like a speaker.. With a giant amp and huge voltage.

It`s not dangerous unless you have no clue what you`re doing.

Edit: He isnt playing the coils, the coils are set by computer to release a set voltage/amperage that will make the sound, he is just standing in a position where he will attract the electricity...still cool though.

"so is this all that tesla coils are good for?
what a waste of electricity."

you can wirelessly transmit electricity with tesla coils but the amount of electricity to light up a light bulb or anythng else is far from practical.

"...What would happen if he jumped up? Sorry for asking a ridiculous question. :("

nothing, it`ll be the same as standing on that block; however, if he was to fall of that block he`ll be electrocuted.

lukas1051: I`ve seen one in real life, doing exactly this, are you calling me a fake too? ^^

nirosaki: Not much. Fewer bolts would ground out of his boots while he`s airborne, but that`s about it.

The guy in the suit is not "playing it," but it`s certainly not at all fake. Search youtube, there are a ton of other awesome videos of musical tesla coils.

Look, despite, whether or not its possible for a person to control it, just look at him, he`s not. He just waving his hands around at times, not even to the beat.

...... Uh it`s not fake. Controlling the pitch is very possible.

However, despite it`s fake-ness, it`s still awesomely cool.

No. It`s a fake. Sure, you could manipulate when they come (sort of), but there is absolutely no way you could control the pitch. Getting the timing would be hard enough.

Made me shiver all over. Awesome!

allmightybob1, The big coil plays both parts, the bass is inserted in-between the treble.

One more thing for clarification, the guy in the silly suit isn`t playing the music, it`s done by either a computer or someone off-camera. He`s just acting as a completely superfluous lightning rod.

To answer the question in the description - no, it isn`t dangerous, because the suit he`s wearing acts as a Faraday cage, so all the elecricity passes round the outside of the suit. As long as he is surrounded by the suit, he is safe.

And yeah, that was cool, but where was the main theme coming from? I couldn`t see the second coil, only the big one on the left. Was he standing on it? I`m confused.
