Me and my girl have a little tussle every now and then. I don`t abuse her and I don`t get abused, but if we get heated and she throws up her dukes I will not back down. I take a punch and give her one back at a .5 ratio. She knows I hold back but its still a little fun to get her back for nagging me and making me eat rice. Shes taller than me and is no punk so its not as bad as it sounds. We wrestle for fun sometimes and it always ends with some nice rough sex or a sloppy BJ.

Also, if I were this Rhianna or this Charlie Brown guy, I would do what any self respecting celebrity would do and just hire someone to kill the other.

Why, Andy? Do you condone the statements of ChronicJ? If so, I find that equally ridiculous. Any man who finds it okay to hit women for any trivial reason is a failure. Maybe if she comes at you with a knife or gun with full intent to use it, but that`s a different story. If your lady is cussing you out or "getting in your grille", that doesn`t give you the right to strike her. She`d never done anything physical to you, and it proves you a poor character anyways.

I`m sorry you feel I`m an idiot over my opinions, but your defense just proves to me you`re just as much of a fool as ChronicJ.

The human race is getting dumber and dumber, but I believe you`re the better example for that, as would be any person that encourages or defends any one who would dare strike a woman like ChronicJ described.

"ChronicJ, I am ever-so pleased to say I hate you with every fiber of my being. There aren`t even words to describe the displeasure I have sharing the internet with you. Do me a favor and deny yourself any more life. End it."

Get a clue wcclark. Are you allowed to operate heavy machinery in your daliy life?... Responsible for the care of small children? ZING!!! Are you (This is a serious question, lives could be at stake) that frickin` dumb? If so, Jesus, the human race is getting dumber and dumber. God help us all.

Women should never be hit unless they get in their man`s grille about stupid poo like Rhianna did with her man. She ain`t got no wedding ring on her finger. He can damm well text anyone he likes. That is an example of a woman who had it coming, and she got it.

Baalthazaq: One way to get a very high figure, such as 75%, is to include words and actions and define "abuse" very broadly. That way, you can go as far as getting anyone who`s ever had an argument of any kind and get a figure close to 100% if you like.

For example, leaving the room or area is counted as abuse in some studies (but almost always only if a man does it and only in heterosexual couples, because of the image the people doing the studies want to create). So if a het couple are having a row and he storms off, it`s counted as him abusing her.

It`s easy to hugely inflate the real figures.

a post script to make sure i`m not incarserated for this... we were wrestling and she grabbed my arm and my hand got caught and my fingers broke. then when i flipped her over she fell on a lighter that had fallen out and it set all of the lint stuff on her sweater on fire

"After seeing this, I feel above a lot more people. My girlfriend ONLY gets the best."

Good for you, by not hitting your girlfriend you have changed the world forever. Pat yourself on the back, grab a beer, and sit back. Your work here is done.

Hell, I`ll grab myself a beer as well. I don`t murder hookers, or kill puppies, and feel above people that do.

Erm, there`s also the detail that almost nobody on this site is even outside of the 13-29 bracket, and most people are under 18.

8 people on this page are 13-17.
12 people are 18 to 29.

The "75%" polls may be based on a completely different age bracket (18+), and may also only be counting people actually having been in a relationship.

Though I have never heard that figure. They may even be including abusive relationship with parents which could be much higher.

It is sure nice to see that people acknowlege the fact that guys get hit by GF`s too. I lived with a girlfriend for 2 years (yeah, I was as stupid as the girls who stay). This bitch hit hard but I stuck around. Didn`t want anyone to know that I was being abused by a girl. Anyway, after two years she hit me one day and I pushed the bitch. She fell into the closet and acted like she was hurt. She called the cops, and they took her to jail, finaly. I left the next day. Bitch could dish it out, but couldn`t take it at all.

I was in a relationship for a long time (drug-related, obviously -- if I was in my right mind, I wouldn`t have stayed as long as I did), and my ex burnt me with a cigarette and dragged me through a parking lot by my hair. I`m really thankful that I`m with someone that treats me right now, and that I`m clean and sober... Glad I saw so many "No" answers.

"Wow, currently 82% say they`ve never been in an abusive relationship... that makes a lie out of all these domestic violence ads on TV, which say 75% of women and 60% of men have been bashed by their partners at some time... exaggerating the truth to make their cause more important?"

It depends on who you are polling too. Every random group of people are going to give different results.

Lion, it doesn`t make it a lie. It only makes it a lie if this poll were a simple random sample, which it is obviously not. The majority of people on this website are between 13 and 17, and the percentage of people that age who have been in an abusive relationship is VERY low.

> Okay, so once when I was drunk, I slapped my boyfriend 6 times... feel really bad about it, but...

So basically you`re saying its ok that you`re now a criminal who committed felony assault on another person and got away with it, as long as you regret it. Well, on that basis we`ll have to let millions of prisoners out of our jails now, cause they all regret it now...

Or maybe us internet users aren`t a fair sampling of the `real world`. You know, being on the computer all day in our parents basements...

Plus a lot of users here are fairly young, they`ve got years to abuse and to be abused. Gotta look on the bright side, y`know?

Yesterday I had to delete a comment of yours where you referred to another user as a (quote) "F aggot". Everyone else abides by the rules (come on, it`s I-A-B, it`s not like there are many, it`s not hard). Please do the same. Thanks!

Okay, so once when I was drunk, I slapped my boyfriend 6 times. But he was saying some really cruel things to me and I was already crying very hard and obviously emotionally distraught. I was frusterated that he wasn`t understanding me. I feel really bad about it, but that`s the only time I`ve ever did anything.

Plus I`ve kicked him in the balls a few times. But that doesn`t count cause it was an accident. I`m a clumsy bitch.

Noone`s ever hit me. Only grabbed me hard (we`re divorced now) and the other one put the emergency brake on in my car when I was goin 45 mph and made me do a 360 because he was mad at me. I guess that counts as abusive. I`m still with that guy.

Male 4,546
I said no, even though my wife has no qualms about hitting me.

She can`t really physically do any damage to me so we both kind of think of it as fine I think. She`s much smaller than me. (I`m at least 40 pounds heavier than her, and fairly fit).

I`d leave if I felt I was in any danger.

She also doesn`t hit me when she`s angry. She`ll only really hit me for small things like not taking out the trash or making bad puns.

So I really don`t think any of that counts. Some people seem to think everything is domestic violence though. So take from that what you will.

Either way I think it`s fine.

yes you can, theres a `no, I`VE NEVER BEEN IN A PHYSICALLY ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP` if you`ve never been in a relationship, then you`ve NEVER BEEN IN A PHYSICALLY ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP. i know, it takes about 2 seconds of thought to realise.
