This is something that bothered me as well.
1. you look awesome (or a douche depending)2. you dont have to climb out when submerged in water.3.you get thrown from the wreckage (joke)
oh wow, I lol`d so hard
I would never have guessed that to escape from a sinking car you would need to actually get out!
All those wasted years playing escape the room games taught me to collect as many items from under the seat and ashtray to later assembly them into a tool to help me escape, who knew it was this easy!
And the sequel to that "How to collect life insurance"
"How To Get Your Whole Family Out of a Car Sinking in Deep Water"
Yeah... that sounded better in my head.
P.S. Will probably come in handy, cars should be sold together with one of those window-breaker things, seems like a good idea.
Read (b) again. Windscreens are DESIGNED to shatter when a rock hits them.
Yeah, but what would be easier, breaking through the windshield that has plastic in the middle, (this is so it doesn`t shatter when rocks hit it), or the side window, with no plastic in between. Yeah, that`s what I thought..
Not only ARE they, they are deliberately made to be EASILY breakable, so that (a) you can get someone out of a car in a crash, and (b) people don`t drive around with hundreds of obscuring stone chips in the windscreens.
Next time I drive into a body of water, I`ll be prepared. Thanks, Howcast. :/
dude, it took me longer than five seconds to figure out wut 7x5 was, and there isnt a gun to my head.
Also, Mythbusters did this, and they have some counterpoints I believe. Such as if you don`t have a glass breaking tool and can`t open the window beforehand, don`t waste your breath by exerting yourself and trying to break it open with an elbow, that will require more air to breath and you`ll be able to hold your breath for a shorter amount of time. Just try and get calm, and try the door handle every so often if you do end up submerged. It may not open as soon as the car seems submerged (and you are too), so don`t panic if that happens either. Just wait and check to see that the door`s not locked and try it every so often, it will open eventually and you`ll be able to swim to safety. If you are waiting for the pressure to even out, you could always take notice of which way any bubbles are traveling when you`re still stuck in the car, too, to prevent panic once you exit the car and are running out of breath.
Panic is a powerful thing, things that seem obvious in a calm state aren`t so obvious in a calm state. Like if someone held a gun to your head and said they would kill you unless you told them what 7x5 is in less than five seconds, you just might not make it.
