Ha!
That made me hungry though. and made me think that that was a waste of burgers. And I also thought, "Why did they decide to pay for so many burgers?!"

OMG this will be a first on IAB, a serious answer is required. OK, well basically Japanese society is overcrowded and very structured, psychologically this means an extreme degree of herd mentality/conformity is required in order for it to function as a society. In any social structure, people give up certain personal rights in order that the larger group can function without conflicting with each other. Couple this with an almost stone-age tech level 100 years ago, belief that their Emperor was a god, and a national shame over WW2, and you have a society where Conformity, Obedience and Strict Behaviour is the norm. Every boiling kettle needs a vent for its steam or else it explodes; Japanese have weird game shows, hobbies and habits in the privacy of their home, etc as a safety valve to stop them going insane, to release once in a while.

This sums up 99.9% of Japanese game shows.

"Yup, my dictionary says Ame= candy and kanmuri= crown. Well, two more words to add to my dictionary"

Actually it`s one word, meaning the "rain" kanji radical, like in the character for lightning.

Actually the hiragana reads:
A-me-ka-nn-mu-ri

I have no idea what it means and google translation gives me "crown candy"

In japanese a n sound can be, and often is, at the end of a syllable. It is pronounced, in some accents, with a more ng sound though... but not strong.

That`s weird, the hiragana on the bottom of the screen at the start of the video reads:
amekannure
Why is the N necessary if right after it is a symbol that is pronounced nu?
Doesn`t the n become redundant?

I didn`t see a lot of actual patties used. I think we were duped. But at least patties were not harmed in the filming
