USA`s Final Collapse: Will History Repeat Itself?

Submitted by: zoneking 8 years ago in

Look at comparisons between USA and ancient Roman Empire. Can USA survive? How long before its fall? A year? 5? 10? 20?

Well... England was the major world power until a couple decades ago, and that kinda died... So who says it won`t happen to the US?

1. We are not collapsing. What is going on now is a natural part of a capitalist economy.

2. If we were to fall the rest of the world is going with us, why do you think the whole world is in recession at the same time.

i think its fair to say that if america collapsed, then much of the world would collapse as well, or run rampant

This is just dumb the US was only created a little over 200 years ago. How does a society collapse that fast? And for those of you saying that, "Ohhh China will pass us up." take into account that China`s government is way more F`d up than ours their economy is only booming because of the lack of control the government has put on the environmental standers. Also take into account that eventually China, like the US, will eventually have to come to terms with its pollution thus causing their production to decrease dramatically.

@Capncaveman. It depends who invades who. i will grant you that it is impossible for australia to invade the US at this point in time, but it would be eqaully as hard for the US to invade Australia. several reasons out basic troops are trained better then evern your marines, logistically trying to invade a country as arid, hilly, cold, hot and humid as Aus is almost impossible, not to mention if you succeded who would feed the world, as we supply the majority of raw materials, wool, and large amounts of fresh food and meat to the world. added to the fact that as we are part of the commonwealth, Britain and her domains are forced under law to help us. That is ofcourse unless we get banished or become a republic ourselves. and before you start to flame me for dissin` america and its troops, may i point out that we hold two very impressive records in war. 1st, the battle of besheba. we are the only people to have successfully capture the holy land. 2nd long tan. 100 men DEFEATED 3000.

who really knows?? yes, unchecked history tends to repeat itself, but that is why we rely on historians to identify trends, and a solid government to successfully implement measures to maintain order and prosperity. hopefully the economy starts to turn around fast!! i wonder what the true value of the dollar is, never mind the posted exchange rates...

The Roman Empire was MAHOOSIVE and spanned continents, let alone countries! Of course it was going to become unmanageable!

We`ve lasted alot longer than America, so you have a few more centuries left at least

Well before you go dissing the Aussies, know this. In every major American conflict, the Aussies are the only ones who have backed the US up every single time.

The only thing remotely close is the money losing value. And even so, it`s not that dramatic.

Back in 2000, a 20 ounce soda cost about $1.10. Now it`s about $1.39. Inflation`s going to happen, that`s what happens in strong economies.

Now I`m not saying that the US will never collapse, but I am saying that it won`t anytime in the near future.

its pretty foolish to deny the cycle that is the rise and fall of civilization. america has some pretty obvious signs of a civilization in decline. but i agree with sewermonkey that its going to get a lot worse before america actually collapses. and anyone who doesn`t realize that if america collapses it is going to bring down a majority of the civilized world with it then they are completely oblivious.

I was going to say that the video is a real stretch based on the beginning. But the end points were closer to Par and Bob had his stuff fairly straight.

Anyone who thinks the `founding fathers` and their system would stop something like this is sorely mistaking and a tad naive.
That does NOT mean i think it `will` happen.

I just mean to say that all that is arguing is that "People won`t break the rule"
No rule is greater then the rest of the rules, people tend to break them.

Einstein, please learn how to spell or stay offline. You`re representing the U.S. very poorly and it`s embarrassing. bobdavenport... question: U.S. vs. Australia in a war 1 on 1. Who wins? That`s right, Ausies go belly up like Steve Irwin in a kiddie pool filled with stingrays! The USA will never die, just turn tan and multiply because we`re the melting pot, baby!

The U.S. will not fall. We will change. Probably not for the better. The only thing that will remain the same is the name. Live in fear and obey the government. They are here to help you. They know whats best for you. They really care about you. That is as long as you work half your life away to support them and kiss their ass.

Who cares? Seriously.

The U.S probably won`t stop being a super-power within our lifetime and even if it did, that`s not a bad thing. Lots of old super-powers are still living it up with good living standards, education, etc. Take England for example.

Besides, just because a country isn`t a super-power that doesn`t mean it`s a bad place or that it`s "failed" somehow.

When the inevitable powershift does come however many years from now, I wonder who`ll take over? Hmn...

Why have a civil war to change from a republic to an empire...we just willingly handed it to them...you know, in the name of security...

I have not read all the posts, but I seem to recall many, many morons comparing Bush and his "regime" to Nazi`s... and our wars to the Holocaust... (As if it is at all possible to make anywhere near a comparison.)

My point is, this is the same mentality here. There are loose similarities between just about anything you want to compare. Like water and oil... they`re both viscous and a liquid, but they don`t mix well.

This is an old, old theory. I remember this argument when I was a kid. So it absolutely does not have anything to do with current events. Nor do current events necessarily help or hurt the supposed escalation of this theory.

That`s like saying that Obama is going to be a bad president because he writes great speeches, just like Hitler did.

These are the aesthetics of a society. They are NOT what we need to be putting effort into thinking about right now. How about the depression we`re in, eh?

Hmm, New Zealand perhaps?

A nice comparaison of the two era but a pointless presentation. Just because it looks the same doesn`t mean it is. There are some major difference between what has happened to the roman empire and what will happen to the american empire.

It will be much worst then in your wildest nightmare.

History has shown us that all empires eventually fall or decline as civilizations. It`s simply a natural cycle of social evolution.

I don`t think in the US that it will happen sometime soon, but it will happen in the future and a new empire will rise elsewhere to take its place and the cycle will continue.

The USA won`t fall like the Roman Empire. It`ll just be overshadowed by another, larger empire, making the US shrink down a few sizes. It`s happened before.

Spain (I think)-> Britian -> America -> China?

@ElDavo, what the founding fathers didn`t foresee is that the political system is becoming heridatry. you have the kennadys, bush (2 were pres. and geb is a govenor i think, plus bush sn as stated that he would like geb to try for pres.), you had the rockerfellas in the early 1900 (money eqauls power) and also bill and hilary clinton. if it continues like this then chelsea clinton will be presedent in 20 years. keeping the power within a small minority is called an oligarchy which is just the lead up to a monarchy. although it can also be what occurs after one as well.
as for not having barbarians around you, you are surrounded by enemies and those that hate the US. and considering it takes less then 24 hrs to fly round the world compared to several weeks to cross the oman empire, i would say your even more surrounded then acient rome was.

@bob: It won`t have an emperor. The founding fathers studied history and put in a system of checks and balances to make sure that doesn`t happen.

As for the video, it doesn`t account for one thing: We don`t have barbarians everywhere around us (just in Canada), so D.C. is not bound to be sacked by Visigoths any time soon. We aren`t funding constant wars now, we just happen to be in a long one at the time, deal with it. Things will get better like they always do.

maxmcd: Rome was founded as a colony, formed into a land ruled by a king, became an republic (with elected officals) before being turned into an empire. The US started off as colonies ruled by a king, before turning itself into a republic with elected officals. So how long before it becomes an empire with an emperor

Numenor5, that`s why I said various incarnations of itself. The US constitution is a living document, with provisions allowing for its amendment. Also, with our judicial branch interpreting laws in such a way as to alter their intended meaning as they see fit changes have over our relatively short history, already occured. I`m sure it`s already vastly different from what was envisioned by the founding fathers. The US government is not static, just like everything that came before us. For example, look at France, England, and Spain. All expansionist empires at one time or another. While they`re no longer expansionist, they`re still France, England, and Spain. The form may have changed, but they still live on. In one form or another the US will be around for a long time.

collapse, means the USA can not maintain its self as an empire any longer. (and yes people it is n empire, just in a different way then others). interestly, the downturn of the stock market has lost no money whatsoever, it is simply what people are willing to pay for, its just a lot lower then it used to be, mainly because people are dealing with money that isn`t real. banks lend each other money so as to invest, meaning most banks are in debt to other banks, so if one goes belly up, some other bank has just lost a lot of money in a bad loan which they didn`t have in the first place.

all empires fail because of finacal problems casuing dessent within the country. generally after a war. Persia, Rome, the Spanish during the 16th century, Britian after WW1. They were the largest enduring empires and all stumbled because of inflation and costly wars which in turn leads to internal decay. Persia couldn`t manage such a vast terratory effectvly and was invaded, Roman currewncy became worthless and lack of land meant the legion was no longer a viable carrer. people were forced off their land to support the troops, thus a lack of ffod insured, Spain became so increadably wealthy due to their control of the carribean and the treasue fleets that it made gold worthless in europe (followed by the disarstorious Spanish amarda) and Britian failed after ww1 due to the cost of the war meaning thier colonial terrotories were able to demand inderpendence and recieve it. due to two costly wars, inflation, an underdevleoped social system, massive deficet, and the current finacial

"Rome came to power in 509 BC, and lasted (Eastern Roman Empire = Empire of Byzantium until the Ottomans and Muslims took Constantinople in 1453. So by that logic, the US still has 1729 years left in various incarnations of itself."

Following that logic, Rome even lasted way longer as the "Holy Roman Empire" until 1806. But Byzantium was in fact an empire that held the title of being "Roman" (East-Roman actually) just as a name, but the structure of the Empire was very different actually.
To less space in here to expand my thoughts... sorry bout that.

The USA is a republic with a president and representatives elected by the people. Rome at that time was ruled by an emperor. So by that logic, the US still has 1729 years left in various incarnations of itself.
