This picture is I think the culmination of the media`s influence on all people.
Thinking violence is ok is de-evolution.
Of course imo.
what do you tell a woman with 2 black eyes....
So you`re an overly aggressive idiot who contradicts herself within the same semicoherent sentence.
Is anyone supposed to be impressed by that?
You actually bothered to make an account called ILOVEChrisBrown just so that you could comment stupidly about a subject where you could not be more wrong. Shame on you!
You just contradicted yourself there...
Don`t get me wrong, the girl is hurting and I feel for her, but COME ON!
Okay, calmer now.
Still, this points out some interesting traits of the human mind, the desperate need for heroes, icons and leaders, and the way atrocities seems greater with familliarity and lesser with distance.
I`m witcha girl!
Oh yeah. I`m sure.
More "real men" babble.
More of the idea that women should have carte blanche to beat men if they want to, because men shouldn`t defend themselves. Very equal.
I`m not impressed.
Perhaps you would explain your line of thought, because I don`t see how thinking leads from the available evidence to that conclusion.
It`s not right, but hell. If you don`t know the back story, you don`t have a right to judge."
I have a mind and I can use it, so I will make judgements.
On what do you base your assertion that she probably deserved this beating? It looks to me like you`re blaming the victim for some reason. That`s low. It also illustrates how meaningless your prating about not having the right to judge is - you are making judgements yourself, and you`re making them without any evidence.
i agree with you but to his dick and balls would be better so he cant create more like him
I dont really care for Rihanna, but what was done to her is so bad! I feel sorry for her, and any woman or person that gets the crap beat out of them like that.
Haha not racist.Bobby BrownChris BrownJames Brown
It`s not right, but hell. If you don`t know the back story, you don`t have a right to judge.
Twinkly wonders: What exactly is Alabama`s pre-requisite for a bad beating?
Please, a fool and his/her dignity are soon parted.
Oh sarcasim is usually made obvious at some point must have missed it or is it a jab at primetime oh well. "Stay in school and don`t do drugs." You`ve never been to college have you?
Too funny. Sarcasm is often lost on those who are weak in thought.
Waits for ban hammer. Has anyone ever been banned for quoting a Mod? lol, Chronic.
J went WAAY over your heads! Stay in school and don`t do drugs.
Which is what I pointed out 5 pages back. Finally, someone who shares the same view.
I was going to make a reference to that collegeboard video, but that is way out line. Damn.
Do you all really care that much? It`s not like we even know her, or she`s a mate in need...i bet u all read OK and Hello magazines
I heard that too, but I also heard that Chris was drinking so she thew the keys out of the window of the car. Then he got pissed off and beat her.
Don`t dish it out if you ain`t prepared for the consequences."
Okay, so she was mad because she thought he was cheating on her. That`s totally legit. It may have been annoying, but does that mean he has the right to beat her? No person has the right to beat anybody, especially somebody they claim to be in love with.
So with your thoughts every argument you have you settle by fighting? Even if it`s a woman half your size cause your soooooo tough. Sounds like your full of sh*t otherwise you`ve must`ve gotten your a55 kicked many times cause I dont care how tough you think you are there`s plenty of real men who can whip your a55 ya pathetic lady beating sack of sh*t grow a spine.
What to believe?!But anyway the reason doesnt really matter, he still beat her up bad. He ruined his career.
She was giving him poo about some texts or calls from some other woman, is what I heard. I agree with what Primtime said in the Basketbrawl forum; very well stated: "sorry that I`m not a wuss and take poo people throw at me. Sorry, I`m not soft"
Don`t dish it out if you ain`t prepared for the consequences.
Well he did turn himself in, and I think he paid like $50,000 for like bail or something like that. So he thinks he did it?
Really what do you think she did? Eat his last stick of Double mint Gum? Scratched his "how to dance like Michael Jackson" DVD? I say people who say that they "love" each other should find a more civil way of dealing with each other.
Guys who don`t appologize for not being soft. They just don`t lay and take poo from no one, that`s who. Go back and watch the basketbrawl video. She had to be out of line to deserve an ass whipping like that.
This guy is a scum. His career is definitely OVER.
one "report" said they fought over incriminating numbers in his phone, but I have other information. A good source told me they fought cuz he found out she gave him the herpely-urpleys.
come on it`s funny. (not the abuse part)
well, for one thing, no matter how ripped and muscly somebody is, a strike to the neck will knock them out, and from there you can do whatever you want with the unconcious body.
Reasonable force, as I`ve said from the start. Which lies between "drating them up" and doing nothing while they "drat you up".
To stop them beating me would be a good reason.
Difference in strength isn`t the only factor in a fight, either. They might be more skilled than me. Imagine a lightweight boxer and some random slob who has more strength.
If you know you are stronger than somebody and you know that they wouldn`t stand a chance... why fight back? I`m not saying every man is stronger than every woman. I`m saying MOST men are stronger than MOST women. I kind of understand you in a way though...
True, but that could be accounted for by swelling due to injury in the pic on the left and a combination of makeup, lighting and photoshopping in the pic on the right.
I got mugged by a woman once. Random chance. She wanted to mug someone, I was there. She only got £5 though, so I sort of got the last laugh.
"But yea, a real man would not hit a woman even if she was hitting him, unless she was like a 300 lb butch bad ass..."
Then a real man is an idiot and I`m glad I`m a fake man.
In reality, using the phrase "real man" or "real woman" is usually a good indication of being an idiot.
Me, because I`m careful to distinguish between tendencies and absolutes.
Men tend to be naturally stronger than women. Which is probably what you meant, but it isn`t what you wrote.
I`m not just nit-picking. I think it`s an important part of reducing irrational prejudices and stereotyping.
"Men are X, women are Y" means that any man who is not X has failed to be a man and any woman who is not Y has failed to be a woman, and those are seen as profound failures. It eats away at those people`s self esteem and it puts pressure on everyone to conform or hide it if they can`t conform.
"Men tend to be X, women tend to be Y" means that any man who is not X and any woman is is not Y are not average.
Which only means that on average a woman would have to use more blows to cause the same level of injury. Or a weapon. It does not make it impossible.
Any woman who isn`t incapacitated in some way could do this to any man. A human could beat up a gorilla if the gorilla didn`t fight back, and the difference in strength there is far, far greater.
Which are also true.
I`m bisexual. And? It`s not like it`s extremely rare.
I`ve used women`s toilets on a few occasions, when it`s been the best available choice. It`s not like it`s a big deal. Personally, I`d desegegrate bathrooms anyway.
I`ve used make-up. Strangely enough, it didn`t cause me to change sex. In some cultures it`s normal for men to wear makeup. It was here in England in the past. It`s becoming more common in the present.
None of these things are important.
ok, guess ill put my 2 cents in as well: there are some women out there who can do this to some men out there, but for the vast majority, women are physically weaker than men. equal rights, equal opportunity are a must in our current society, but the luxury of civilization does not change physics.men must return the favor to any man who does this to a woman, methinks
It used to be a daily occurrence... especially in middle school.. I`m just saying, they know how to slap
Of course you don`t - they conflict with the nice simple image that you prefer to the messy complexities of the real world. Reducing seven billion individuals to two groups and some simple stereotypes makes things much easier.
Which has no relevance to the truth of the examples I have given. I`ve no need to lie to you, because I don`t care what you think.
Your picture wasn`t there when I started writing that post. I had to attend to a call of nature.
At the risk of sounding even more sexist, and stating the obvious again, cases of domestic abuse where the man is the attacker usually last longer as the woman is fearful of the retribution the man would inflict on her if she left the relationship. Men usually have fewer qualms leaving an abusive partner.
I don`t see why we`re fighting, we`re basically on the same side of the argument, domestic abuse is a travesty and more action should be taken to lessen it in society.
With that sentence, you demonstrate you are fundamentally incapable of understanding the most basic concept of equality - that each person is an individual, not an average for some group or another. That was my point, and it was alien to you.
If you owned a shoe shop, would you sell shoes in only two sizes - one for men and one for women, sized according to the averages? If not, then maybe you can understand my point.
"Society wouldn`t make hitting women such a stigma if it wasn`t warranted. "
Don`t be silly. Societies have all sorts of unwarranted stigmas and all sorts of irrational prejudices are the norm. For example, 200 years ago in the UK, almost everyone was denied the vote. It was a privilege for a few men. Society wouldn`t deny the vote to nearly everyone unless it was warranted...rubbish. Your argument that social norms are always warranted is ridiculous.
I vote no.That doesn`t mean I`m against suffrage, or equal pay. But I do see a difference between a man hitting a woman and a woman hitting a man.
I`ve been hit by women all the time, not a big deal. And I`ve hit men all the time, fighting, its normal. But the idea of me hitting a woman gives me shivers
Its that time of the month isnt it?Because those were oldies but goodies.
"That`s not proved - that`s what a trial is for. So he should be presumed innocent at the moment."
Didn`t the wifey beater turn himself in. (wifey beater is now what I call him)
I used two cases I know of personally as examples. Just that - examples to illustrate the point you completely missed. I`ll spell it out more simply:
A weaker person can easily beat a stronger person if the stronger person does not fight back. The will to harm matters far more than strength.
It`s not complicated and it`s not describing something rare.
And by the way - I am bisexual, I have used women`s toilets and I have worn makeup. None of which are relevant to sexual equality, but you brought them up anyway, so I`ve replied.
Basically, her shoulders are slumped forwards in the pic on the left and held back in the pic on the right.----------------------------------
Are you saying nobody will notice in the picture I posted?
Your screen name completely contradicts who you`re trying to be, and yet, it matches who you truly are just perfectly.
"I can also point out, that 90% of the most successful top paid hitmen nowadays are women."
What?First of all, how in hell could ANYONE know that? Even if they went around looking for the hitmen/hitwomen who got caught and taking a census, guess what?
That just means that hitwomen don`t know how to get away.
"If women don`t use their muscles, they don`t keep them. We`re all the same from the beginning. Due to the plasticity of our bodies, we become different."
You`re kidding, right?
We`re all the same from the beginning? That a fact? Hmm..So, by your logic, my penis must`ve been sown on the minute I left the womb, right?
All point-making exaggeration aside, scientifically, men have more natural muscle mass than women. Testosterone is a steroid hormone. Guess what gender makes mor
About halfway between the edge of the photo and her neck, look carefully at her shoulder/neck. You can just make out two black lines close together along the "edge" of her shoulder/neck. They`re the bottom of the tattoo, viewed at a very shallow angle.
Basically, her shoulders are slumped forwards in the pic on the left and held back in the pic on the right.
I don`t care how "holier than though" you get by claiming not to be sexist, but I bet you`re not bisexual. I bet you never use the woman`s bathroom. I bet you`ve never worn makeup (hopefully). These are all social norms because, lets face it, men are different from women.
i) Individuals are not averages.ii) Humans are capable of using weapons.iii) Strength is of little relevance in one-sided violence, as domestic violence often is.
That case I just referred to again, the worst case I know of personally, is relevant again. The abuser was a foot shorter than the victim, just over half their weight and probably had a third of their strength. None of which matters when the victim isn`t fighting back, even if the abuser doesn`t use a weapon.
Or another case I know of personally - the victim was a strapping woman, over six feet tall and athletically built. Which was of no use to her because she wouldn`t use force against her girlfriend who was beating her.
The will to harm is much more relevant than strength.
If people say they care, then let them think they care. Stop being a dickweed. Calling people out on their insecure notions really doesn`t prove anything. Especially not in this case, since you aren`t doing anything to help domestic violence victims either.
It just makes you look like a dick."
Oh, I see. And you`re helping how? Yeah, that`s what I thought.
And that is my sincere, heartfelt sentiment.
It just makes you look like a dick.
So you expect the information to be available on the internet. Wow, what`s your IQ?
Yes, she can.
That case I mentioned a few posts back? The man was arrested in hospital. That was the third time she`d hospitalised him with broken bones and, unsurprisingly, genital injuries. There were witnesses that time - she wasn`t being quiet about beating him with a baseball bat and shouting about killing him. He was arrested for assault - he slapped her with minimal force to shock her enough to get past her and through the doorway she was blocking. She had a slight red mark on her face. He had multiple broken bones. Again.
He was lucky. When he was in court, having already been labelled as a who hit a women of course, the case was dismissed by a judge who wasn`t grossly sexist.
She was never charged.
Wrong answer. You don`t care. If you did give a damn, you`d probably ask me how they are right now and if you could do anything. You wouldn`t investigate to see if they were famous or not.
Sure they are. Genetically, we are all the same. We`re based on a use it or lose it system. You don`t use your muscle, you lose it. You use it, you keep it. End of story. If women don`t use their muscles, they don`t keep them. We`re all the same from the beginning. Due to the plasticity of our bodies, we become different. Generalizing won`t help here.
Sure you do. Now, what would you do if I told you at this very moment, someone else is now a victim of domestic violence. What will you do?
I can`t help it if you, not you in the specific sense, but in the general sense, are a weak male. I`m sorry if you, again, in the general sense, were picked on, be it by a man, woman, boy or girl. Now, go pick up a biology textbook. Speaking from a purely objective, scientific view, men are stronger than women, men are more capable at pure carnage with their bare fist, on the most part.
There can be, if enough people work for it. Although in many ways we`re moving away from sexual equality rather than towards it and I can`t think of any sort of even vaguely successful organisation advocating it at all.
But I`m optimistic sometimes despite reality. I think most people have a general support for fair play and many things are better than they have been in the past. I still think it`s possible that maybe, in a few centuries perhaps, sexism will be something children learn only in history classes, where they laugh at the folly of their ancestors.
It could happen.
If a woman is beating me up im sure as hell are going to beat back. Now im not saying that Rihanna (or rhianna whatever) beat chris brown. but a woman cant go untouched when shes beating somebody up simply because her victim is a man and she is a woman.
Not only that but, if you want to treat Rhianna like a regular person than this cant go unnoticed nor unpunished and people should be making a fuss out of it. If you want to treat her like a celebrity then this should still be taken care of. Her popularity has nothing to do with the fuss. What if that was someone you loved in that picture instead? you would be making a fuss to. Both ways this should be fussed about because it simply needs to happen.Same goes for your aunt, and i dont want this to seem like i`m taking anything away from her. that also needs to be dealt with and fussed over. "
Alright, how many people here actually sincerely CARE about this and aren`t just doing it to look good? Nobody? Yeah, I thought so. You may care, but its not sincere. If it was, you probably would be sending an email or some crap like that saying how much you fee
A fair point, but the medium is also relevant.
For example, I`ve spent hours talking with someone who was being abused, I`ve sheltered someone else who was being abused and I`ve physically intervened in domestic violence that happened when I was around. But why would I have started a thread on IAB about those incidents?
Something to think about and consider how polarised and politicised the issue of domestic violence is:
In the first case, which was by far the worst in the degree of violence and how often it occured, the victim was a man and the abuser was a woman.
In the second case, the victim was a woman and the abuser was a man.
In the third case, the victim was a woman and the abuser was a woman.
Domestic violence is not sex-specific, although the response to it usually is.
Incorrect. You are being sexist and stereotypical here. Men are the same. I`ve seen many weak (Let us refrain from weak. I vote for physically impaired) men when I was in high school who couldn`t even life 5 lb. I can also point out, that 90% of the most successful top paid hitmen nowadays are women. You are being sexist, and you`re really making yourself look like a moron.
You don`t have to advocate sexual equality if you don`t want to. Most people don`t."
You may as well let him make the correction, but we all really know there is no such thing as equality in this world.
Both ways this should be fussed about because it simply needs to happen. Same goes for your aunt, and i dont want this to seem like i`m taking anything away from her. that also needs to be dealt with and fussed over.
You call it a correction, but it`s the same underlying idea.
You don`t have to advocate sexual equality if you don`t want to. Most people don`t.
I`m going to assume here that it also applies for the inverse.
I`m just saying that any man that has any decency would never hit a woman."
So much for equality. So, a woman can hit a man yet a man cannot hit a woman? What kind of bullpoo equality is that?
I`m just saying that any man that has any decency would never hit a woman.
I agree completely with this statement.
I`m not a Chris Brown fan or anything, but he seemed so nice.
She looks dead in that photo, and she didn`t come out and call the cops really, they found her like that, and it wasn`t the first time like some people said, she canceled tour dates and stuff because of this.
What I`m saying is, the Humanity doesn`t give a poo unless their own asses are in danger. I mean, nobody gave a crap about domestic violence until this came up. Nobody gives a crap about anything until some bright-ass decides to put it on the news, and people who want to be known will just go and dump money for the victim(s) and act kind. We all know nobody really cares because we live in a period where nobody gives a damn about human life anymore. Recently, a four year old kid saw his mom get killed in broad daylight, and there were plenty of by-standers who did nothing.(Con`d)
it bugs me that everyone cries for rihanna, who had millions and left the country to get away from chris brown and says nothing about her staying when this happened before - but when the woman sleeping on cot in a shelter goes back to her abuser because she can`t make it on her own, or refuses to stay with family because he threatened to kill them all (last one happened to one of my aunts), she gets called stupid and looked down on. no one seems to even try to understand why she went back, they just judge.
That`s not proved - that`s what a trial is for. So he should be presumed innocent at the moment.
But kept in a cell until the trial, unless there`s a reasonable possibility he didn`t do it.
I can fake a tattoo on a picture, and I`m not that skilled.
I`m inclined to think that it`s the photo on the right that`s effectively a fake - a skillfully manipulated publicity shot - coupled with the harsh lighting on the police photo making them appear even more dissimilar.
Yes, there is - exactly the same reasons as striking a man. Sexual equality is not a pick `n` mix thing. You either advocate it, *all the time for everything*, or you don`t advocate it at all.
Reasonable force in defence is the only good reason, and I don`t see how this case could be that. Enough provocation can constitute mitigating circumstances, but I don`t see that being the case here either.
It could reasonably be argued that it`s more cowardly in modern society for a woman to hit a man than vice versa, because a man would be judged as being in the wrong if he defended himself. Or even if he didn`t - sexist victim-blaming is so entrenched that a woman hitting a man is routinely assumed to be proof that he`s done something bad.
Jail time for that, definitely. I think it`s likely that - obviously completely by coincidence and not arranged by anyone - he`ll get mugged in a couple of months time.
You are a sexist bastard.
Those weren`t funny, just poor in taste and plain stupid. You really ought to think before you post.
Nothing, shes already been told twice.
Why does beyonce say "to the left, to the left" in that one pooty song?
Because women don`t have any rights.
Wanna hear a joke?
Why don`t women have watches?
Because there is a clock on the oven.
How many men does it take to open a beer?
None, it should be open when she brings it to him.
What do you do when your dishwasher breaks?
You hit her.
I promise I`m not a sexist bastard... I just couldn`t help myself.
but really, that set of pictures would be a good marketing tool for proactiv and all those makeup companies lol
Idontknow951 is right. Domestic abuse isn`t anything new and doesn`t get the attention it deserves. It`s disgusting that it requires celebrities to stoke the country into action on so many injustices.
Rihanna has the chance to encourage other women to come forward against their attackers, which would be great.
Also, I hate correcting people, but it`s Rhianna... I think. There are more letters, and an H. I know that."
You know how I know you`re gay? You know the correct spelling of her name....and actually called someone out on it.
Idont, like it or not celebrities bring attention to things. It`s not that because she`s famous it somehow makes what happened to her more important, it`s that now it`s in front of everyone`s face. It`s brought up again, and we have to talk about it now that it`s out in the open. You should care as much as you do for any domestic abuse victim, which I hope you have a shred of thought for.
i dont need to prove anything though because either way its sad.
Nobody should hafta put up with that and, like PirtGrl said, if any good can come of this, I hope it encourages others in her situation to speak up about this kinda thing.
That is all i could say towards that photoI feel so sorry for her.
Also, I hate correcting people, but it`s Rhianna... I think. There are more letters, and an H. I know that.
i still don`t like her music though
