Not to rain on your parade habbazoot, but I`m pretty sure you have no idea what you`re talking about. And wiki-ing something and then halfassedly regurgitating what you read doesn`t count as understanding it either.

Poindexter: So what you`re saying essentially is, is that along with infinite space which extends beyond perpetual bigness there`s also infinite smallness?

Wormser: [nods head in agreement]

Poindexter: How?

Wormser: Easy. Take an asymptotic line and extend it outward.

Poindexter: Oh.

Stewart: Right, right, right. So perpetual bigness exists simultaneously with perpetual smallness. What was I thinking?

Ogre: What if uh C-A-T really spelled dog?

Poindexter: Wow. That`s heavy Ogre. Dog

As soon as he said "This is the sun: Mostly hydrogen and helium"

I had to go look up that "the sun is a mass of incandescent gas" song. =D

Every time the words "universe", "earth", and "science" are typed on the internet, you can bet your arse that a political or religious debate is going to start...

The universe is 3 inches wide and 4 long, and about half an inch thick. That`s absolute fact, the only debate is about what constitutes an inch...

Yeah so I`m here stoned and I see this and I think wow that`s big and then I think how come we don`t know more about gravity, how come we can`t figure that one out? I mean we deal with it constantly and if it`s a force then hey tell me it`s a force or if it`s a particle tell me it`s a partice but if it`s a particle where does it originate then I think wow this is some good weed.

Ikeray and friends:
"How can people say there is a God when there are pentrillions of life forms? This is why there is no God."

Have you ever seen the "Checkmate Atheists" video? You`re that guy. Without the sarcasm. Seriously. The argument is as valid as "Banana, therefore Jesus".

1) God is not a person.
2) Space is almost entirely that, empty space. For every star there are trillions of miles of nothing. To suggest God doesn`t have enough space to hold the few tiny dots of life in the universe is ridiculous.
3) AceG: Those same scientists suggest there are an infinite number of universes already: suck on that, Science. :P

You can`t just state some facts, claim they agree with you, then claim some sort of philosophical victory. They have to actually... you know... back up your point.

IkeRay is right.

Also, the scientists who are trying to recreate the Big Bang estimate they can make 1,000,000 of them per second, which is 999,999 more than "God" made.

This just proves that science is awesome. Suck on that, God.

how can someone see something like this and STILL insist that there is no way for there to be life on another planet?

whats even more, how can people say there is a God, there has to be trillions or quadrillions of life forms, maybe even pentrillions or more? that means that ONE person controls and houses those people after death...no wonder atheism/agnosticism is raging currently, science is making religion mythology much like it did with all the previous religions (now known as mythologies [greek, roman, egyptian]).

"Space is big. You just won`t believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it`s a long way down the road to the chemist`s, but that`s just peanuts to space."

Why is it when someone tells you there are over a billion stars in the univers, you believe them, but if they tell you there is wet paint somewhere, you have to touch it to make sure....

To put this in context.

If the universe that we can see was the size of earth, the milky way would be: A house.

If the milky way was the size of the earth, our solar system would be: A Gamecube.

If our Solar System were the size of the earth, earth would be: A Sofa.

Roughly. And that`s just the bits we can see.
Bear in mind here, when dealing with scales that range from E+10 Light years to E-17, some rounding is necessary, so my margin of error is large.

Nice, Kappy.

But yeah, this shiz is just too much to think about...

This is the kind of stuff that makes you say "Do I even matter?" and then deeply ponder this question for 4 hours, unable to do any sort of productive work.

THANKS ALOT

Don`t forget that that marble containing the universe at the end is also the smallest subatomic particle in existence, which in turn forms larger subatomic particles, which in turn form atoms, which form molecules, which form the people, animals, plants, and objects that comprise Earth.

We are infinitely small and infinitely large.
