So with this logic you are saying that people that have ADHD and take their meds to relax are weak minded? people with depression who take meds are weak minded? thats fu(ked up dude
FFS it is not artificial, marijuana is natures own herb.
Michael Phelps is a douche, I didn`t watch the Olympics, weed never killed anyone, kids don`t know what weed is, and who gives a crap?!
And why would an Olympic star go to a house party and just pick up a bong when he doesn`t know the people he is with. It is his fault for being that stupid. If your going to do something illegal, know who you are with.
-he has no responsibility whatsoever to be a role model for children....-
....every athlete on the planet has that responsibility.
imo of course.
1. Michael Phelps is a role model for kids and so whether he likes it or not he now has the responsibility of being a role model and shouldn`t be doing drugs.
2. Everything after my first two sentences in my 8:56:58PM post applies to people in general, not Phelps. Therefore, your first point doesn`t apply. I agree he was a hard worker. He was one of the exceptions I allowed for by not using words like "all" and "everyone," but rather "most" etc.
3. In response to your second point. I`m still not talking about Michael Phelps or athletes, just people in general, and you just supported my point by saying that it makes people lazy, so you can`t be as hard of a worker, which is also what I just said in my previous post.
4. As to your third point, that has nothing to do with what I was talking about and was based off of you misreading my cut-off pos
I was talking about how he`s a role model for kids and therefore does have to be a law-abiding citizen. Did you even read the rest of my post? Your comment didn`t make much sense with what I was saying, but I will respond to it anyway by saying that yes, to a certain extent, I do think that, because otherwise you find yourself at a potential contradiction. You see, if you`re a hard worker, you are most likely not doing too many drugs as well, as drugs can create significant changes in mood/personality etc. and cause someone to become more apathetic. Also, if you`re breaking the law all the time, why should you be allowed the same opportunities as everyone else, no matter if you`re the best? That`s like the annoying guy you know who gets out of everything cuz he`s "in" wit
so you think that the opportunities of the world should only be available to die-hard law abiding citizens regardless of how much someone works for it and has an irrefutable talent for it?
The media is making to big a deal over this.
Right. There will be more of this to follow...
But is it REALLY that hard to just avoid drugs altogether? No.
"Lets have a look at the professional football league. Some of the "atheletes" are ex-convicts,a large amount have been proven to have involvement in using illegal drugs, some of them get involved in violent crimes while playing and are not dropped from the team."
While I agree with you that some of these people aren`t the best people and some shouldn`t be allowed to play, most of those same people are people that no one has every heard of. Phelps won 8 gold medals at Beijing representing the USA and became a huge inspiration and role model to tons of kids I`m sure. Then he goes and does something stupid like this. Whether he wants to be or not, he`s a role model, unlike many of those NFL players, and he needs to be more responsible.
We aren`t talking about the Raiders here, we`re talking about an olympic athlete.
