Its bullpoo that they are making such a huge deal over him smoking pot. While you never hear about that push over A-Rod taking steroids. A-Rod is cheating at his sport but no one seems to care. But everyone is busting a nut over phelps rippin a bong. If anything he is hurting himself. He is not cheating like a-rod openly admitted to doing.

yah i know codmily...I was kinda impared. I apologize. But it`s his body he has the right to put whatever he wants into it. Why did this even make the news? Lot`s of people smoke pot. If not for marijuana there are a lot of amazing movies and amazing music we would not have today.

"no offense or anything but if you need artificial help to relax... well, you`re a bit weak minded. All i`m gonna say."

So with this logic you are saying that people that have ADHD and take their meds to relax are weak minded? people with depression who take meds are weak minded? thats fu(ked up dude

i love when people throw the word "need" around like its our only option. do you NEED to watch tv? do you NEED to visit iab? i doubt it. i bet you do those things because you enjoy them.

If you are taking sponsorship money from companies that advertise to children, then you are a role model. That is what you are being paid for. You make yourself and the companies look real bad.

And why would an Olympic star go to a house party and just pick up a bong when he doesn`t know the people he is with. It is his fault for being that stupid. If your going to do something illegal, know who you are with.

-If I was to be in a pic taking bong hits id get arrested...-
...no.

-he has no responsibility whatsoever to be a role model for children....-

....every athlete on the planet has that responsibility.

wtf.....If I was to be in a pic taking bong hits id get arrested....he gets all this attention and gets to have a pic of him doing something he loves on the cover of a magazine? I thought phelps was quite the douche bag during the olympics....and after but now.....I kinda think he`s less of one.....he`s one of us lol. And about the whole role model thing...he has no responsibility whatsoever to be a role model for children....It`s his life let him do whatever he wants to HIS body. It`s a picture that somehow got leaked...it`s not his fault the world found out he likes to enjoy nature once in a while. Just because he smokes doesn`t mean they`re a scum bag with not job or life....I know plenty of professionals who enjoy toking once in a while and I know people my age who work go to school and smoke. As long as you get the bills done and take care of what needs to be done. To the people bitching on here...about how horribile it is.....it relaxes ya...maybe you should try it sometime......

1. this incident was before the Olympics in the first place... i.e. before he was a role model.
2. so you`re saying that "most" people shouldn`t be allowed equal opportunities that law abiding citizens should be, only the exceptional ones like Michael Phelps.
3. It`s not that people CAN`T be as hard of a worker, but it`s generally accepted that they probably wont be. if they smoke pot and ARE hard workers, then PROPS to them.
3. We definitely agree that pot makes people lazy and fat GENERALLY, but should that exclude the people who aren`t effected that way?
4. I didn`t have a 4th point, it was an extension of my 3rd point.

And I`m tired so I`m going to bed, but all I really wanted to say was that drugs just aren`t a good thing and can and should be avoided. They do more harm than good, and you can live perfectly fine and dare I say better without them (I`m not talking about when they are used for medicinal purposes, there is a difference)

@thebandit, I wasn`t talking about Michael Phelps anymore, because I didn`t think you were either.

1. Michael Phelps is a role model for kids and so whether he likes it or not he now has the responsibility of being a role model and shouldn`t be doing drugs.

2. Everything after my first two sentences in my 8:56:58PM post applies to people in general, not Phelps. Therefore, your first point doesn`t apply. I agree he was a hard worker. He was one of the exceptions I allowed for by not using words like "all" and "everyone," but rather "most" etc.

3. In response to your second point. I`m still not talking about Michael Phelps or athletes, just people in general, and you just supported my point by saying that it makes people lazy, so you can`t be as hard of a worker, which is also what I just said in my previous post.

4. As to your third point, that has nothing to do with what I was talking about and was based off of you misreading my cut-off pos

" You see, if you`re a hard worker, you are most likely not doing too many drugs as well, as drugs can create significant changes in mood/personality etc. and cause someone to become more apathetic. Also, if you`re breaking the law all the time, why should you be allowed the same opportunities as everyone else, no matter if you`re the best? That`s like the annoying guy you know who gets out of everything cuz he`s "in" wit"
1. Michael phelps was a hard worker. i doubt anyone would deny that regardless of his drug use.
2. why shouldnt someone be offered the best opportunities if they are the best, even if they smoke pot? pot is not a performance enhancing drug at all, ask any pothead and they will say the same. pot at best makes poeple lazy and hungry.
3. was Michael Phelps "In wit it" before he became an 8 time gold metal champion"? I`m going to have to go ahead and say no to that one. they didn`t give him them win because he smoked pot, the

...h the right people. I mean, it`s not like no one doesn`t break a minor law once or twice, I`m sure that most people may have. But laws are there for a reason, you know. Oh, and it still isn`t that hard to just not do drugs. As long as you`re not already addicted to them. If that`s the case, smooth move.

"so you think that the opportunities of the world should only be available to die-hard law abiding citizens regardless of how much someone works for it and has an irrefutable talent for it?"

I was talking about how he`s a role model for kids and therefore does have to be a law-abiding citizen. Did you even read the rest of my post? Your comment didn`t make much sense with what I was saying, but I will respond to it anyway by saying that yes, to a certain extent, I do think that, because otherwise you find yourself at a potential contradiction. You see, if you`re a hard worker, you are most likely not doing too many drugs as well, as drugs can create significant changes in mood/personality etc. and cause someone to become more apathetic. Also, if you`re breaking the law all the time, why should you be allowed the same opportunities as everyone else, no matter if you`re the best? "Lets have a look at the professional football league. Some of the "atheletes" are ex-convicts,a large amount have been proven to have involvement in using illegal drugs, some of them get involved in violent crimes while playing and are not dropped from the team."

While I agree with you that some of these people aren`t the best people and some shouldn`t be allowed to play, most of those same people are people that no one has every heard of. Phelps won 8 gold medals at Beijing representing the USA and became a huge inspiration and role model to tons of kids I`m sure. Then he goes and does something stupid like this. Whether he wants to be or not, he`s a role model, unlike many of those NFL players, and he needs to be more responsible.

Seriously, the line needs to be drawn. Personally I thought the public appology was enough. Why is it that people in positions of power are always bloody drating idiots? (btw if you haven`t heared, Kellog`s droped their sponsership for Phelps)

so, I`ve been holding this question back for a while, but sometimes when I go to rate a link, it says that I have already rated when I know that I haven`t rated it yet. I really wanted to give this one star, but now I can`t. This tends to happen a fair amount to me, too. Does this happen to anyone else and/or does anyone know why this happens?
