The only way this would be scary is if you put your face up to it and it followed you around everywhere.

"So its a robot that can look at stuff. Why?"

It`s experimentation and development of technology for later application in . . . who knows what.

Why make a stick that moves a dot around a screen? So you can later invent video games and call it a "joy-stick".

It`s just one piece of technology that could be applied to lots of things we probably haven`t thought of yet.

To me, the "Why" question is: "Why do we continue to try and make these things look human?"

This makes dust mites more intelligent, because they at least do something constructive.

diggna - Most of the time, people don`t like things they don`t know, or they`re scared by them. From birth, it`s pretty much hardwired into us that humans aren`t going to harm us (the way babies learn and process information is amazing), so, instead of being afraid of what it is, if it looks human, we`ll assume it`s friendly...or at least not much of a threat.
    Or, that`s what I guess.
