There was some other one where they had this mangled little girl in the middle of the road, telling us what happened when we hit her at 40. Then she slid backward until she was off the road and all her bones fused together and it went "It`s 30 for a reason" or something like that...
stupid road safety adverts.

our government really does love graphic and moving road safety adverts. Like the one where you go inside the guy`s body and watch his broken rib perforate his ventricle. Rough.

haha i always liked the way the guys seem to be using the dead kid as a goal post for the footy.

Agit that`s what I think everytime the Ad comes on. I just sit there thinking why is he carrying that corpse around and using it as a draught excluder.:)

It`d be more effective if the kid started taunting him, but just lying there he looks like a slightly uncomfortable draught excluder...

It is a good advert. For those wondering why he`s not in prison; perhaps the implication is that he`s served time for the accident, and this is years and years later, which makes it all the more haunting; perhaps ten years after the accident, he`s still tormented by it. Also notice him riding the bus; he`s either still banned from driving, or too traumatised to get behind the wheel. People here are correct; it gives its message well.

@jimbobsthebe, the issue isn`t so much the other countries in the UK being forgotten. It`s more the insult of being so ignorant about such a basic fact about a nation so important to America`s history, so closely-linked to America`s culture, and so stout an ally and close friend (though less so recently with who you`ve had in charge not long ago).

It`s like putting the wrong name on your mother`s birthday card, or calling your best friend Steve when his name is Frank.

Aadam you have to remember that England is a far more populated and globally dominant place. If your a successful businessman then you will have probably visited London at some point.

All I`m saying is that if you were born and lived elsewhere you`d probably be asking the same question.

The States need to start making PSAs like this. Super, super effective stuff.

Hey, I`ve once told a guy (American) that I`m from Finland, and he said "Really! Isn`t that in Asia?". And furthermore, I see this add all the time. It`s really, really effective.

Its a good advert for hitting home the message, but one thing that annoys me when these are posted on here...they are not ENGLISH! they are British! Im not having a go, i just dont understand why people assume that Britain/UK and England are the same thing! MAybe its because im Scottish, and maybe because one day an American tourist came up to me at my work and asked me "so, exactly where in England is Scotland then?" ...anyhoo, yeah! lol. rant over :) one that still stays with me is the one where the kid is playing in garden and a car smashed through the fence...almost made me not want to learn to drive! now though, been going 2 and a half years and no crashes! :D

Horrifying, but really effective concept.

And if they`re really as strict about safety as y`all say, I need to move to England.
People are careless here. I get jumpy around 40 mph, and where I live, you have to take the freeway to get pretty much anywhere.
*shudders*

This is slightly different.. its road safety rather than driving speed. But for me, this is one of the best they have done..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abADGGXi0...

I heard rumours that it was real, and his parents wanted it shown... I wonder though whether that was also part of the ad campaign.

Road safety is over the top in England... Only place where I`m allowed to go over 50mph, anywhere near me, is if I drive off a cliff. But I have to be careful about landing on double yellow lines.

oh cool i just saw this advert fo realz on the tv. Thats one thing that great about the UK. We take road safety seriously. But there`s been worse/better adverts. Ireland has pretty bad one too.

And yet they keep advertising by showcasing how fast the cars they sell can go.

"Dont blame us for forcing you to go to work everyday in rocket cars... blame yourself for being tempted to use the speed that we deliberatly offered you when you purchased that car. It`s totally not our fault you`re irresponsible... what do you mean by restrict the speed limit directly at the production level?"
